Mike Inez has said when they were on tour in Japan they had a few days off and during that time nobody had seen Layne. They ended up at some bar and there was some blue haired guy working behind the bar. Turns out Layne had ended up taking a job working at the bar because he liked the idea of just being normal somewhere and nobody knowing who he was.
Starr was there that night. Thats why he couldnt ever get over it. He felt he couldve saved Layne and felt like he failed him. In truth, only Layne had the power to save Layne but Mike let it eat him up. Two great men that should be here today. F*** Dope man...
Actually, no. That is all fiction. If you listened to Mark Lannegans last memoir, he goes into great detail about how Mike would constantly “pop-in” and lobby for free party favors and if you only had uppers he’d straight up just ask for cash to score some opioids. Mike constantly took massive loads of shit from Layne about his prescription addiction and when Mike eventually realized that day wasn’t going to be a cash score, he’d find a way to bail. That’s truly why Lane felt bad about it and asked Mike to “don’t leave, not like this.” SLAM! I suppose Mike could have saved Layne or at least summoned help to at a minimum extend his days. But when you’re sick, any good inside hides far away. I truly believe that Mike awoke to Layne gone forever and bailed. The story he told Laynes Mom Nancy on Celebrity Rehab was an obvious royal crock of shit. He tells her a fairytale about how he went over to Laynes “concerned” and wanted to phone for help but didn’t because Layne threatened him. •BS• It was hilarious to watch Mike spill this tale to Nancy while he was in rehab and she didn’t buy any of it. She simply spoke over his lies and confronted him directly by asking “Did you see Layne die?” “Were you there when he passed?” She knew he was. She knew he didn’t give a shit and bailed when things got heavy and he was sick. Now that my friends is a true ride-or-die! (Pardon the pun, ha)
It’s not known if Mike was actually there with Layne when he died, Mike’s ex girlfriend (who was very close friends with both Layne and Demri) and one of Layne’s best friends who goes by the name of “D-rock” (D-rock was also a close friend of Demri as well) have expressed their doubts on Mike’s claims that he was with Layne a day before he died. D-rock who last visited Layne few weeks before he died stated that he didn’t believe Mike and felt that Mike would’ve died beside Layne that day because Mike claimed that he was very high on drugs when he allegedly came over to Layne’s apartment a day before his death.
I was born a couple months before Layne passed away. Really getting into the music coincidentally on jar of flies 31 anniversary wish Layne got out the haze long enough to realize how loved he really was
They usually won't talk about it but the reason it took a day to identify Layne is because his poor cat was locked in there with him with no food for 2 weeks.
We were robbed, That man was blessed with a voice that many a singer would kill for but sadly the drugs beat them to it. William Duvall is doing the best he can but the one show I went to see just left me feeling kind of empty. As my friend said, No Layne no pain.
Growing up in the 90s, I own albums from 52 bands that have lost at least 1 member, with most of them from drugs and/or alcohol related issues. Some of those deaths affected me more than others. Some were shocking, and some weren't. Though Layne's demise was all but inevitable, I don't think any of the deaths affected me more than his. This man accomplished so much in his short life. He became one of the most important musical figures of his generation, and has inspired countless artists that came after him, yet he laid dead in that condo for two weeks before anyone even noticed he wasn't around. Regardless of the mistakes a person has made in their life, no one should leave this world in that way. Layne deserved so much better from the people who claimed to care about him. He had all of these people in his life that supposedly cared about him, yet all of them just set back and watched it happen. Having struggled with addiction in the past, I can say that addiction will continue as long as the people around the addict enable it to continue. My addiction came to a grinding halt the moment that the people around me had enough. I quickly hit bottom and got help. Layne deserves blame for what happened, but the people around him are equally responsible. So much could have been done to prevent this from happening, but nothing was. I hate the fact that this has become part of his legacy. He deserved better. RIP
Layne is one of my biggest inspirations as far as his drive and his pure raw emotion he poured into everything he did. He was a very awesome vocalist and musician and artist and it breaks my heart that heroin and crack drove his last years. It also breaks my heart that that’s all people remember of him like most musicians with addiction to heroin. I’ve had my issues with heroin and meth and alcohol. I’m still human and I’ve gotten clean and I’m still the same person. I’m just happier and have worked on myself. I’ve heard Layne was a great guy. Saddens me that heroin makes people see those who use it as sad people. I’ve met many heroin addicts who were the opposite especially in recovery. It’s just a crutch like any other vice. His mom said he once said to her some along the lines of “why aren’t people getting it mom? I’m warning these people that it’s a trap and they come up to me saying they’re using because of me”
Damn.. 8:12 hit hard man.. 10 yrs clean from heroin, glad my parents didnt have to lose me to it.. i have 3 kids now and i thank God every day. Its because of them im still here. I was lucky and finally kicked it RIGHT before fentanyl started showing up in everything. Took years of hell and failed attempts to quit. Prayers for anyone whos in the struggle now and any parents who have lost their kids to it.. the shits evil
@@JAMESGANG-f5u, yeah, combining substances like H & booger sugar is EXTREMELY dangerous. Granted, there are other combos that are bad as well, for example alcohol and caffeine.
I asked my doctor about that. I asked her which substance would take effect first & without hesitation, she said H will take effect before C will. So it is possible that Staley passed before the C has even taken effect, I’m guessing the toxicology report within the autopsy probably found H metabolites but not C, that kind of thing?!
Rest in peace.

Thank you for doing this! Stayley is so underrated and not given enough credit! He's unfortunately over shadowed by kurt.

'What I feel is un-real..
I've written my own part.
Eat of the apple so young 🍏
I'm crawling back to start...'
This was literally in the video
I was reading this comment as the story was being told 😂
Yeah it's in the video 😂

The best grunge voice Layne was amazing
RiP Layne. RiP Mike. RIP Demri. I really wish we could have saved Layne. Even if he never sang another note.
Still think he died on 4/5/2002 - exactly 8 years after Cobain
Correct. Eerie coincidence. 😳
My local rock station rather coldly played 'Man In The Box' and 'Them Bones' back to back the day Layne died.
Ew that's tacky
I remember after my local rock station announced that Michael Hutchence of INXS died, they played "Suicide Blonde".
God I loved Alice In Chains and Layne's voice. Such a great band!
I was born a couple months before Layne passed away. Really getting into the music coincidentally on jar of flies 31 anniversary wish Layne got out the haze long enough to realize how loved he really was
It still hurts that Staley passed so early.
Rest in Peace Layne. Thank you for the music.

😖😩 BAD KITTY !!!
NO NO !!
Yup, it’d been feeding on his corpse. The cats name was Sadie and Jerry Cantrell adopted her after Laynes death.
Damn, that's brutal. I have a cat named Sadie, good thing I don't use heroin
No, the cat didnt eat Layne, thats false, Layne had an atomated feeding machine wich fed Sadie, she didnt touched Layne`s corpse
@pedrowillimannmusic if the cat did try to eat him, it probably would be dead too from all the drugs
Love AIC...RIP Layne...you are missed

Last week my wife got me jar of flies and mad season on vinyl for my bday 🎂

RIP, Layne. I’m gonna see your boys in May at Sonic Temple. 🙏🏻🤘🏻

You guys erroneously put Mike Inez picture up when talking about Star doing heroin with Kurt and Courtney 🤷🤦
Exactly when I stopped the video. Terrible.
I originally had misread his name one day back in the 90s and it just stuck. He will always be Layne Stanley to me. 🤪
The same thing happened to me except I misread it as Layne Staffordshiretonsons
Strange, I heard Staley technically died of injecting a speedball.
He did, they’re just saying H

RELEASE LAYNES SONGS!
7:40 no mom should have to find their child's body 😢
He is a legend
Alice in Chains was the best band that ever came out of Seattle.
❤️🕊️🙏
Favorite song of all time Nutshell.

I'm pretty sure the higher-ups were against saying ,"In " and swap it out for,"N".. not the other way around
