  • Found in a charity shop, this reel of Super 8 film was labelled as:
Our holidays in Mevagissey, Cornwall. June/July 1969
    Places visited:
    Mevagissey
    Penzance
    Mousehole
    Gorran Haven
    Truro
    .......................................................................................................................................................................
On a recent visit to a local charity shop, I stumbled across a large selection of cine equipment: a projector (that doesn't work), a camera (which also doesn't work), but most importantly a collection of more than 30 Super 8 cine films.
With films dating between 1966 and 1972, this looked like a home clearance. This was someone's entire collection of home movies and I felt myself compelled to do something with them.
I am now in the process of converting these films to digital and will be posting them all on UA-cam.

Makes me cry. I want it back this way when the smallest pleasures seemed so special. With the music of Stevie Wonder as well, these are truly lovely scenes.

These films bring back great memories of going on holidays with my parents to Cornwall & Devon (slightly later in the 70's), They're a wonderful insight into someone's life from way back when, thank you.

5:20 is Tregolls road, that school is now a nursing home.
The tyre centre is still a tyre centre and shell garage is still there!

Thanks for saving these films. I hope someone recognises the family on holiday. I find it rather poignant that this families record of happy times finds its way into a charity shop, but now they could reach a much bigger audience than they would have ever thought possible.
Also, as someone who was born (1964) in Cornwall and still live here it's interesting to see places I know well.
Once again, thanks for rescuing these lovely films, I look forward to more uploads.
