People forget Garland BROKE HIS JAW AND LOST LIKE 20 POUNDS. He 100% was still trying to regain strength as the playoffs went on. He'll bounce back in 2025
Good ass take my guy. Rare for anyone outside of Ohio to give a good Cavs take these days I think Atkinson COULD be a mastermind tbh and he is VERY excited to coach Garland and Mobley
I was watching the KD pro runs, DG and Evan were balling. Mobley was even bringing the ball up the floor and looked super comfortable, he's been putting in major work.
There is video of Mitchell bowling with beer kegs outside clebeland browns stadium with fans before a browns game a couple weeks ago. He clearly love it here haha
As a cavs fan it’s annoying seeing media try to say cavs need to win now they have to make changes. Like Kenny said this team is young, we have time to keep growing with Evan and DG. Maybe two seasons from now we should be contending and if not then yeah make the big changes but don’t blow up a good thing we have our best players young don’t give up on that to try and rush the process.
Cavs have a lot of young guys who are getting better no matter who coaches, but they’re gonna get A LOT BETTER with an actual coach and a fast paced OFFENSE. I think Atkinson will be in running for COY and Mobley will be in line with MIP Garland will become widely seen as elite too. I’m 100% with you on coaching being their main concern and I think they nailed it tbh
I subbed bro. Not just bc it was a positive take, but it was a take that shows you know what you’re talking about and don’t just make shit up like most ppl talking about the Cavs outside of Cleveland
Bickerstaff's greatest sin was not focusing on Mobley's offensive development. He literally had zero plays drawn up to get him the ball, it was infuriating.
JB is probably a top 5 defensive coach, and he is a floor raiser, not a championship guy. I think he's capable of raising the pistons, but man am I excited for Kenny.
The Cavs are perfectly set up to punk a contender in the playoffs, and be a dark horse for the ECF. Young team where everyone gets a year better, they pick up a playoff tier coach, and a prime Donovan Mitchell. Ball knowers know if the Cavs were healthy last year that Celtics series would’ve been a lot more interesting.
Exactly Mobley’s is prime for another leap & I think it’s coming & Garland has shown a flash in 22 but has some inconsistency but I believe he can get back to a similar or better level
@@winter9242 didn’t say identical I said mini in a sense that they have so many high end players without having a Luka or Jokic or Giannis while also having good depth
And you recognize Mobley? Nice! He is an elite rim protector and is the only guy not named Gianni’s that can easily switch 1-5 and lock someone down. That’s a rare pairing of skills. He led the LEAGUE, as a rookie, in shot contests and covered the 2nd most ground… that’s a rookie Cavs are gonna be unlocked this years. Book it!
People are forgetting that the Cavs during year 1 of Donovan Mitchell when they lost to the Knicks they had the best defensive rating in the league and a top 10 offensive rating that season mainly due to garland being healthy. That season garland was just as good as his all star season, 22 and 7 shooting 41% from 3 on similar volume vs 38% during his all star season. Garlands gonna be a top 10 pg this season and if Mobley shoots 37% from 3 like he did last year on higher volume this teams gonna be in the Conference Finals
Yes but they’re weaknesses are GLARING Garland and Dmitch are cool together but they don’t compliment each other and they don’t cover for each others weaknesses, they have no perimeter defenders outside of Isaac Okoro and then the front court situation…..they should’ve traded Jarrett Allen. Evan Mobley doesn’t shoot the 3 ball so that only hurts their half court offense plus Mobley can easily play the 5
@@WestCoastCheeseHeadbut what are those weaknesses? Everyone always says this and then gives no actual reasons. The defense is still great even when DG and Don are on the floor, so what are we complaining about?
Finally a video on my team, & I love the take. I try to not be biased but I’m excited for next year, the development of Mobley & the resurgence of DG & Levert are they keys to our season imo & not losing Okorro was great too
I think we need Darius to be more of a passing guard and have D Mitch charge at the rim a little more because it’s one of his best parts of his game but he’s too much of a pass first player when he has a good passing guard
Exactly. Darius needs to channel Steve Nash, he's a great passer and can do 17 and 8. Let Donovan do the heavy scoring and lurk off brick wall screens from the two big boys
@@mkilver9darius can really do 20 & 10 few lobs to emob & jallen (dmitch too) on pick rolls can hit the roll man or if he’s popping can hit corner shooters out of it too. DG should be killing with these guys he has around him.
I agree I think DG needs to make his impact as a playmaker, but I feel like he needs to have a score first mentality and kill defenses with the lob threat. It would be great to see Okoro, LeVert, Strus even Wade all score off assists in the paint. If roll players can get easy buckets like that, I think they can contend now.
I think we need garland to put up more shots as a passer and ball handler talented yes but tends to turn the ball over as a three point shooter tho he is very efficient just seems to want to dribble dribble turnover I need Mobley to put up 6 threes a game and make 2-3 a game
Mobley finished the last season STRONG. He showed that he is still improving and was one of the major reasons the Cavs gave the eventual champs a fight. The Cavs did better than the Mavs vs Boston and could've realistically won another game or 2 if they had Mitchell healthy.
In a recent interview, Mitchell was not shy about the fact that they will be running plays now on offense. He seems very happy with the coaching change, most guys “play the game” of not burning bridges but he seems much happier now with Kenny.
Man In the Celtics series there was a game where the Cavs lost by like 3 and the Celtics had 21 foul shots to the Cavs like 4 and the Cavs had more points in the paint. I do not think we would’ve won but the series was more competitive than the box scores showed and we were missing don and Ja
A lot of media people complain about teams not sticking together in this era of basketball how they all flip players and roster overhauls happening way too often.
