If Ukraine already blew through 150 billion+ in aid through two years just to receive 13 billion from the U.S. and then have zelensky state to the public “we have enough artillery for the first time in the war” is statistically a complete lie. I saw a recording of the Ukrainians shooting artillery ammunition from India, maybe there are large supplies that are not publicly known.

Number of russian soldiers in Kharkiv oblast is enough only for limited operations, at least for now. Statements at the West outlets are mostlly speculations about possible russian plans before actual offensive began.
Yes, in theory capturing Kharkiv will force ukranians to retreat from Donbass completely and its minimal wargoal for Russia, but for now it looks mostly like diversion attack to force Ukraine to overstretch supply lines and help forces on Donbass.
My personal opinion that Russia decided to avoid gamble with attacking large city and just increase attrition war speed.
I believe putin is lying, he isnt stupid. He wouldnt reveal his plans to the public, Putin wants kharkiv and it looks like hes gonna get it

There are also two points that are worth considering:
1) The Ukrainian government and local authorities in Kharkov in particular say that the situation is completely under control and there is no talk of any evacuation of residents from the city. They either knew well the goals of the RU army, or planned to make human shields out of the residents, as was the case in Mariupol
2) If we consider the second option, then they will have a good picture for the West, which will obviously escalate the situation and could lead to the sending of troops to Ukraine from NATO countries or at least lead to an increase in military assistance

If we develop the theme that Putin was waiting for the West’s reaction to the Kharkov offensive, then in this case it turns out that Russia is now doing what he said, but in this way is testing for a more priority direction for the future. @@m3bmuadib well, when we consider Russia's pre-war power and Ukraine's pre-war power, Russia should've taken all of Ukraine in 2022. But they didn't. So what about half of Ukraine by 2023? Clearly that didn't work either. What about Donbas in 2024? Not looking too great either, now does it? I thought Ocheretyne was going to be a meaningful change, but that front was stopped as well. So at this point, ANY breakthrough at all would be meaningful, but unlikely.

The Russian offensive in Kharkiv is obviously to establish a buffer zone between the frontline and Belgorod to protect it from Ukrainian shelling. If it was meant to take the city of Kharkiv they would not be using a mere 50k soldiers.
