- This is the ending song for the movie Dot and the Kangaroo which is an Australian animated movie from 1977. I have always loved the work of composer Bob Young however there is not much information on him. He would have been 100 years old this year if he is still alive.
The start of the video has a bit of a back story on this one. Very sentimental to some Australian's like me :)

I am so glad you did this piece and let me know! This really sounds true to the tune, and it's amazing you recreated it by ear. This tune holds for me such bittersweet feelings. A happy reunion, but also a sorrowful parting. And it has with it the gentleness and innocence of Dot all over it. Thank you for doing this.

Dot and the Red Kangaroo was shown in the UK in the late 80s and my family just happened to record it on VHS. My sister and I rewatched it many times over the years. It’s probably where we first learned about and Australian outback and the Dreamtime. Amazing to hear the final theme again after nearly 30 years.
That’s so nice to hear. Yes I think that’s where I first learnt about the Dreamtime too but I do remember this coincided kindergarten as well so it was quite confusing for my little brain at the time because I was so young ! But anyway, interesting to think back on these memories !
Oh man... I remember this song... Hearing it again after SO LONG brings tears to my eyes.
