  • Australasia All-Stars Shine Bright and take out Major Award on International Stage
[Sacramento, 18/02/2024] - In a dazzling showcase of talent and determination, the Australasia All-Stars have triumphed on the global stage during their recent tour (organised by travelgang.com.au) through New York, San Francisco, Sacramento, and Los Angeles.
Each year, the Aussie All-Stars and the Kiwi All-Stars embark on a transformative journey, showcasing the very best young musical theatre talent their country has produced. This year, for the first time, in a display of Australasian unity, the Aussie and Kiwi performers joined forces with the esteemed teams from Junior Theatre Festival Australia and Junior Theatre Festival New Zealand to create the first international performance of a new Australian musical, Dot and the Kangaroo JR.
The adventure kicked off with a New York chapter where the All-Stars absorbed the magic of Broadway musicals, engaged in talk-back sessions with Broadway performers, and participated in exclusive workshops and masterclasses. Amidst the iconic sights of the city, during an intensive 4 day rehearsal period, the All-Stars crafted their Dot and the Kangaroo performance piece under the guidance of their creative team consisting of Director, Daniel Stoddart (Book writer, Dot and the Kangaroo), Musical Director, Rob Rokicki (Composer, The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical), and Choreographer, Fernell Hogan (The Prom, Kimberly Akimbo).
Following their week living the lifestyle of Broadway artists, the cast of 36 young performers traveled to Sacramento to take centre stage at the Junior Theater Festival, where they were joined by thousands of like-minded young performers from all over the world. With their performance of Dot and the Kangaroo, the All-Stars were awarded the prestigious accolade of Outstanding Production. Only 5 other groups at the festival were awarded this honour.
After their international award winning success in Sacramento, the All-Stars traveled south to Los Angeles to continue their adventure with visits to Universal Studios, Hollywood Boulevard, the Walk of Fame, and two full days at the happiest place on earth, adding a touch of Disney enchantment to their journey.
All-Stars alumni and their families have hailed this international adventure as "a unique, one-of-a-kind program that was a once-in-a-lifetime experience!" Inviting parents and siblings to join as chaperones, the program aims to make this exceptional journey a family affair.
Auditions for this extraordinary experience (delivered by JTF Australia sponsor, Travel Gang) are held annually at the Junior Theatre Festival Australia and the Junior Theatre Festival New Zealand in October each year. For more information about JTF Australia and JTF New Zealand visit:
