Fortunately the escence has not been lost. They still sound very very DP. It is My favorite band since I Heard them in 1976. I am 60 now and very happy to know they are still working with such Quality.

Mate, when you pause, can you rewind just a bit before continuing, makes it flow better ok?
And of course it sounds like Purple, it is Purple, it’s new but familiar at the same time, every band has their own signature (just like AC/DC sounds like AC/DC, etc, etc).
    Anyway.....
The new album ‘= 1’ (equals one), is due for release tomorrow (hopefully the same date here in Oz too).
Three new tracks have been released so far, ‘Portable Door’, ‘Pictures of You’ and ‘Lazy Sod’.
Go look at the official Deep Purple UA-cam page and you can listen/watch.
Purple is still on the road and currently touring Europe (the only time they stopped touring in recent years was when everyone was forced to stop during Covid).
The new album, will be their 23rd studio album too, plenty of track to listen to over their 56 year history since the first in 1968, and of course there is way way more to Purple than just ‘Smoke on the Water’.
*Ian Paice, drums - age 76, since 1968
*Ian Gillan, vocals - age 78, since 1969
*Roger Glover, bass - age 78, since 1969
*Don Airey, Hammond organ - age 76, since 2002 - (Don replaced the late Jon Lord when he retired in 2002)
*Simon McBride, guitar - age 45, since 2022 - (Simon replaced Steve Morse when he left the band to look after his wife who had terminal cancer, she recently passed away. Morse was in the band for 28 years, from 1994-2022, much longer than Blackmore who quit mid tour in 1993)
Still making and playing good solid rock n roll.
    Cheers,

      Hey man!
Thanks for the feedback and complementing the information. Yes, "new and familiar" is a great way to put it. It's hard not to describe it as "sounds like Deep Purple" since they've become one of THE references for rock sounds after such a long and successful career.
      Cheers!
