I’m 77. Legally blind. Some usable sight in my right eye.
I am painting my kitchen cabinets🤣 I am always redoing things I have, thinking of ways to brighten my tiny 700 sq ft home. Life is good, I am grateful for what I have, the people I love, and my health. Not perfect, good enough!

I have just passed the 18 month milestone of being cancer free! I spend every day thanking God for that and all he has given us- all the things we have that 90% of the world doesn't have, the daily multiple blessings-adequate finances, a decent home and car, enough money to pay bills as long as we stay frugal, a wonderful husband, Bible believing church, decent medical insurance and care bc my husband spent years in a crappy job. The list goes on and on. I cannot stop thanking God for His blessings.

I have a wish list on Amazon and QVC. I go back to review it from time to time. Frequently I remove things. On QVC I only order if I get free shipping and it’s on sale or clearance.

My husband immigrated from Greece in 1970 at the age of 15- they were extremely poor over there & did not throw anything out, they could find uses for it in many ways. I call him my McGyver because he can fix just about anything where I would throw it out & buy something new.
There's a lot to be said about our throw away society! And I am so grateful for what I have, especially when I hear the stories of his family's struggles!

Lynn here I broke my back in February I should be healed by the 3rd. Week in May..I can not bend or lift or do any housework. My husband is on 24 7 oxygen he helps me dress, does the dishes etc. I thank the good Lord every day that I will heal. My husband of 55 years is doing it all and I’ve learned through all of this that a lot of crap does not matter. I also look through my apt. And count my blessings . ❤️

I live in MN where the first item of gratitude on this list in the middle of winter is reserved for the working furnace! Great video and message. If we all practiced gratitude instead of comparing ourselves to the Joneses or allowing brainwash by media, then whining about what we don't have but feel we need, I think we'd all be happier.

This is weird but ever since I was a kid (almost 80 years ago) I’ve been fascinated by, and grateful for, hot and cold running water. I always loved long baths, and when the water got cool, I’d add more hot and think, “We have something kings didn’t even have in the past.” We really are richer than we think.

Hi Dawn, this, for me, is THE ALL TIME BEST VIDEO from you, next to the news of your paying off your heater early of $10,000. You are my mother/older sister that I NEED to hear from, reminding me to value the things I already have, rather than looking around to "keep up with the Jones" (Who are probably going broke, trying to look rich or happy). Happiness, which you are reminding me, is being content with what you already have. THANK YOU SOOO MUCH. May you continue to put out great messages like this one!!!

Great topic, Dawn! My brother once told me something (when I was depressed) that I would like to share with everyone. He asked me three questions: #1 Do you have a bed to sleep in?
#2 Do you have food in your cabinet?
#3 Do you have a roof over your head?
Then he said to me, " You are a rich person, if you have those things," he was right. So many things we take for granted without even realizing it.

This is something so many people lack these days - gratitude for what they already have, what they're been given, what they've been able to do or buy already, it's always about attaining more.
Look at what you have, and be grateful! What you take for granted, other people are praying for.

When my husband was left disabled and then died due to a drunk driver, we downsized big time, and the idea of shopping even for things I need finds me making excuses to not shop. 😄
Then I moved to a new modern 500 square foot home and discovered the benefits of 'less is more'. And I am so utterly thankful to have the necessities. Always reminds me of the adage, know a need from a want, and that wants should be seen as a treat. Remember when going to a fast food drive in was a treat? Now with many people it's almost a daily occurrence.

Wow you are saying just what I decided to start doing!
I heard a phrase to shop your closet! That can go for everything! Shop your jewelry! I just have costume jewelry but I have taken apart some of my jewelry that I never wore and use them for my hobby which is making memory wire bracelets and stretch bracelets.
I decided I was being too picky about my wardrobe and decided to wear some clothes that are almost new but was too spoiled to wear because I wanted something else.
You are so right! I have an ac unit but was going to buy a fan to put in another area of my apartment! I remembered I had an almost new fan I stuck in the closet and didn’t like it that much. I’m getting it out and I’m going to use it anyway.
Your watch that you were going to replace but decided to keep and work with the band was so me! I’m doing the same and it’s amazing how much happier I am.
I think to myself if someone else saw my stuff they would be happy with it so why shouldn’t I be too!
I’m 76 a person can wish they were younger, better looking, richer on and on.
I figured if I be thankful for what I have and in decent health I better be thankful!
I like the saying, when we complain and we have enough we should march ourselves to Hospice where people are dying. Don’t you think they would trade lives with you in a New York minute? Of course they would.
When I visited my best friend in Hospice before she died as I was leaving I heard a man call out from his room asking several times what time it was. I started to keep going and then I looked at my phone and went back and went into the doorway and said it’s 1:30! He said thank you! I said you’re welcome!
I never forgot that such a simple thing to another was so important to them to know the answer.
Living a life of thankfulness and sharing can make us feel and look younger and it’s a medicine that can’t be bought!
    Plus my faith in God!
Thanks for your video it just validates what I have started to do!❤️🙏🕊️🌹

I think it is so important to realize how valuable having your health really is. My husband has been going through some pretty concerning health issues, and let me tell you, everything else just doesn't seem to matter quite as much when you're in the middle of something like that. I have been a lot poorer and more stressed in my life. I am wealthier spiritually than I have ever been, and I think that is because I have let go of expectations that my life is going to get better or that "drive" to make it better. It's pretty good just the way it is. I think I would be richer if I had my best friend, Sammie, back in my life, but I am hopeful that the Lord will send me someone just as great as she was before dementia took her. I have friends, just no one quite like Sammie.

I was really inspired by this video! You’re right certain videos tempt you to buy things even though they may not be created for that purpose. For instance, if I watch cleaning videos a lot of times the people have really nice furniture and a lot of decorations that you know I would like to have. so yes, I get the motivation to clean but also get the motivation to decorate and buy things and stuff, etc. A video that focuses on making do with what you have when you are attempted to buy more. That is in and of itself worth its weight and gold! Here’s one example. I saw on Pinterest a picture of a bedspread that was black and white ticking material. I started looking on Amazon, etc. and all of the ticking bedspreads were upwards of $100. So I didn’t wanna buy that so what I did was, I went to Goodwill and I started looking through the Place for black-and-white striped material behold I found a small comforter with black and white stripes on one side and zebra stripes on the other. Well, I snatched it up and I was looking for some material to make some black-and-white striped cases. Saw a man shirt that was perfect so I Fashioned side of the pillowcase for my shams out of the men’s shirt and then I used my other my too small of a quilt. I put it on sideways some kind of a bed topper and I got the look that I want it total cost $12. Yes I had to so yes I had to come up with a little bit of creativity but in the end it was fun. It was awesome and it took care of my craving to update my bedroom without money. I did still spend $12 but it’s better than spending 100is the point I’m making.

Good video! If you don’t have your health, then it doesn’t matter how much money you have in the bank. Money can’t change a cancer diagnosis, can’t change a stroke diagnosis, & any other serious diagnosis out there. In the end, it doesn’t matter how big your house is, how expensive your car is, etc. I know how hard times are right now just to survive, but if you can, try to slow down at times, to maybe appreciate the flowers blooming, the leaves changing colors, your family, appreciate that you woke up another day to do these things, etc. That’s what matters.

When I am tempted to buy things, I say if you buy it, you have to get rid of it. You are trying to declutter. Also when I bought too much clothing from the pandemic clothing mania, I just think that was so stupid, because when styles change I am stuck back in pandemic days.
As for being grateful, the health issues I have had in the past caused me to make changes in my life that allowed me to live longer, I am sure. So thank god for those problems. As far current health issues cropping up, I say god is telling me to speed up the decluttering so you can move to a new place to explore, as I don’t have forever, I am 66, and then I see people with canes and wheelchairs and am so grateful I am not there yet.

Oh, I love this video. This is exactly what I've been trying to say for the longest. We have so much, but yet a lot of people worry & complain & say they don't have enough. Most people in the USA have a store for a house. Most people in the USA, I bet, could go a month without buying anything. I know, it's so easy to go into a store for 2 items but end up with a whole cart full of items. But if we didn't have the money, we couldn't do that, or if things weren't available in stores, we couldn't do that. But we have both money & availability. We have so much abundance, we are so rich. And when it's all said & done, we're probably going to look back and realize how much we had, and wish we had of enjoyed, appreciated, and respected what we did have. Instead of not enjoying our great abundance & blessings.

We throw away items because part of it is broken or torn. We can have the nicest dress, but if there is a tear somewhere on it, the whole dress goes in the donate bin or the trash. When we see that 99.9% of something is still good, why do we waste all of it? There are times when this cannot be helped. Like if you got a rock bouncing off your windshield and it left a small "spiderweb" crack on it. We may not be able to get that fixed, as it could spread over time. But we want 100% of something to be good. I have handmade quilts that I've had for years, with pieces of the patchwork either torn or missing. I still use them, even though they look ratty. Why? Because no one sees them, and these quilts breathe so well. They are warm in the winter, and cool in the summer. I love them. They could be patched, if I wanted to sit down and try to do it, as they are hand stitched. Or, maybe I could simply cut out appropriate pieces and use fabric glue. Yes, there is a point where we should simply throw things away, but I am one that HATES to waste a usable item. I'm not a hoarder, but I can see how someone could be. Sometimes I just have to bite the bullet and toss it. I did that with a toaster the other day. It lasted for years, but the "hold down" handle wouldn't stay down. The toaster worked fine, but I decided that no value was saved by me standing there holding the handle down. I got another toaster.
Sometimes, when we can't donate something, and we can't bring ourselves to throw it away, envision huge warehouses full of this product and similar products all over the world. Like diamonds, if you have one, it's precious, but if you have a dump truck full, each one may seem less valuable. Value is in the perceiver. But we do waste way too much, as industry has taught us to keep buying, regardless of the cost to the planet.

You and your channel inspire me! I love your attitude of gratitude. In some areas I'm more frugal than I ever was and in other areas I spend more freely Then I ever did. I think knowing our priorities helps so muchIn knowing when to save and when to spend. Personal growth means knowing ourselves better and so we have fewer regrets and less waste because we know what we value.

I live according to my means, which isn't much but am happy. Don't waste my money on new gadgets, and stay within my budget. If a person has a roof over their head, and some basic necessities, and no worries about someone coming to put them out of their space, then they can sleep at night.

Hi Dawn! Can you get a replacement band for your Fitbit? I just got a new band for my Apple Watch. I asked for it for Christmas. My son replaced it for me.😊. P. S. The Apple Watch was also a Christmas gift several years ago.

In life, either you count your blessings or you will find yourself counting your curses.
The difference between a farm and a homestead is that a farm produces food for everyone, a homestead grows food for themselves. The essence of homesteading is to live authentically. By authentically I mean to reduce what it takes to live to just what was necessary for survival and to have made these choices deliberately. Too many times we wait until we're at a crisis in our lives before we examine why we live, work, wear, own what we do. Only then does it impress on our minds that we were handed a lifestyle to believe in, by authority figures, society, and by hollywood.
Deliberate placement of objects; deliberately reduced to essentials. Decluttering isn't about getting rid of what doesn't work or has reached its sale by date. It's about reducing down to what you need today and relying on the protection of divine providence for future needs. Living a simplistic lifestyle enables you to find fulfillment. Cottagecore is the romance of simplicity. I live this life and it's a little slice of heaven. UA-camr "With Love, Kristina" is an example of cottagecore.
