Yes I told my friend at work that. Many of these artists I won't hear on FM radio but I can hear on Colbert. Now I want to hear the whole album by Josh!!!
Had to look this up again, great lyrics and brilliant rendition by Josh! She's Always a Woman by Billy Joel She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes She can ruin your faith with her casual lies And she only reveals what she wants you to see She hides like a child but she's always a woman to me She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you She can ask for the truth but she'll never believe you And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free Yeah she steals like a thief but she's always a woman to me Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh, she never gives out and she never gives in She just changes her mind And she'll promise you more than the garden of Eden Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while you're bleeding But she brings out the best and the worst you can be Blame it all on yourself 'cause she's always a woman to me Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh, she never gives out and she never gives in She just changes her mind She is frequently kind and she's suddenly cruel She can do as she pleases, she's nobody's fool But she can't be convicted, she's earned her degree And the most she will do is throw shadows at you But she's always a woman to me
With Josh's theatrical type phrasing and voice plus the addition of the accordion, this sounds like it could be a song taken from a stage show musical. On a side note, it was good to see Stephen acknowledge and shake hands with the accordion player too.
I can’t believe it’s taken me four years to find this video. One of my favorite Billy Joel songs, sung by one of my favorite singers, ON my favorite late-night show! ❤ This is amazing
picture the following: when the guy with the accordion starts playing, josh jumps up and grabs it from him. he begins playing the prologue from natasha, pierre, and the great comet of 1812. the rest of the cast comes on stage. he's tricked us. this isn't the late show, this is a performance of great comet.
This guy...I saw Josh Groban covering Billy Joel and just thought 'no, why is this a thing?'. Finally listened and it's great. I should know better than to doubt the Grobes. He knows when to let loose and when to be more subtle to best fit the song instead of just showing off.
I was wary as it began, because I adore Billy Joel and this song is a favorite of mine. Partway in I was still not convinced but Josh's voice made me keep listening. Towards the end I realized that I could love BOTH renditions. Billy's is still my favorite, but it has the advantage of being lodged in my ears, brain, and heart for a few decades now. The memories that sound can conjure are pretty powerful.
Don't worry weird Al ( weird lord ) will be on accordion when you reach the Gates of heaven ( owned by Microsoft too.) Ump pho pah is either a polka blunder or Vietnamese soup.
Billy Joel version brings you something more realistic and 'raw', something that you can relate to, something that you can recall. This version is more like a dreamy fairytale, whimsical yet mesmerizing. Both are great, it just depends on your preference. I usually like originals better than covers, but in this case... Josh's theatrical voice just lulls me into a dream of fairytales and love stories
Thank goodness I got a heads up abput Josh being on,because SC does not come on here in Australia until after midnight. Worth waiting for, but was annoyed with other guests- 1 because I had no idea who they were and 2 because I was waiting solely for Josh. Made it to bed at 1.30am this morning.

Obviously will never be better than the original as this is one of Billy's greatest tunes. Nonetheless, Josh does a respectable cover of it. Both are fantastic artists.
This song is highly effective at winning over romantically inclined women if you can sing it well and accompany yourself with an instrument. ...also is this a different key or is Groban just going down an octave for the chorus? It took me 2 weeks of clenching my butt cheeks to be able to confidently hit that second "ohhh".
Save the show The Good Cop it has Josh Groban it came out a few years ago but was cancelled after the first season this show is awesome and Groban is amazing in it.
If you wanted to hear Billy Joel instead of Josh Groban, go to You Tube channel & click on Billy Joel! It's that simple. Love Billy Joel too ! This was never one of his favorite songs. I think Josh did just fine! People are hilarious

He's a talented guy, can obviously sing, but you don't have to be a hater to not like it. I listened because I like this song but him singing it is not very pleasant to my ears. I think he has some trouble picking the right songs sometimes.
@@jeeither I must admit I do agree on one thing with you. He can do a better job of selecting his songs, or his specific renditions. I absolutely HATED his version of Vincent. I am not a fan of that operatic singing when the song isn't specifically composed for that (like eg. the songs Freddie Mercury wrote for Montserrat Caballé). But since his first appearance on Never Mind The Buzzcocks it has become entirely impossible for me to dislike Groban as a person.
He’s a baritone with some high notes up his sleeve - quoting Josh Groban himself about his own voice. Groban only categorises himself because of his classical training background.. in pop and the like it doesn’t real matter but it’s good to know your limits! His vocal range is roughly G2-A4 just from listening to him
being "able to sing" does not make one a great performer or even a good singer. he has no soul - he sounds like he is rehearsing this for a church choir, not extoling the deep sentimental musings of the mysterious woman in Joel's original. he feels nothing, and it shows. he's a hack and a perfectionist with little more than the ability to carry a tune and play basic piano.
Might start a huge fight here, but I gotta say it's really hard for me to listen to Billy Joel being covered by pretty voices. It just doesn't work for me.
I’m a huge Billy Joel fan, but I find the same thing. Even he's admitted that he didn’t have a great voice, but it’s the one that sounds right for his songs.

I really like Josh Groban. He is a very talented musician, but this was not the song for him. Billy Joel meant for this song to have edge and bite, but this was not it. He should have sung Piano Man or N.Y. State of Mind or Just The Way You Are. They would have suited his style better.
FacheChanteDeux: He's an artist who expresses that talent through his singing; he can sing any song he wants! He can also sing any genre and in any language he feels comfortable with!

She's Always a Woman by Billy Joel
She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes
She can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child but she's always a woman to me
She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth but she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free
Yeah she steals like a thief but she's always a woman to me
Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh, she never gives out and she never gives in
She just changes her mind
And she'll promise you more than the garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while you're bleeding
But she brings out the best and the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself 'cause she's always a woman to me
Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh, she never gives out and she never gives in
She just changes her mind
She is frequently kind and she's suddenly cruel
She can do as she pleases, she's nobody's fool
But she can't be convicted, she's earned her degree
And the most she will do is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me

Billy was my Mother’s ultimate favourite. But even she couldn’t argue that this is 👌🏼.
Josh’s vocal control is insane. Also this is the one of a few covers where he takes down the key😂
To be fair… it’s a half step down from Billy’s original release. Not exactly scandalous, and puts it right in Josh’s sweet spot, apparently.
I love when he does covers of pop ballads. When he "Up Where We Belong" with Idina Menzel I was totally blown away.
Great voice as always.

The real question here is why Weird Al wasn’t the one on accordion.
