I have been waiting so long for the PMDG 777 and the TFDi MD-11 to make it to MSFS. I flew the PMDG 777 a lor on P3D, and I am part of the TFDi Quality Assurance team, so my dreams are coming true! Both of these airplanes are incredible, and both are "buy now" add-ons in my opinion.
I went over to P3D for the PMDG 777 as I was a real 777 Captain, and flying several aircraft on MSFS was affecting my job performance. On the other hand, flying the 777 on P3D actually helped me at work. No rap on P3D, as I really loved the honesty and performance accuracy of the study level PMDG 777. However, I am trying to build a following, and MSFS is by far the most followed.
I am a 1958 vintage pilot with over 21,000 flight hours. I currently reside in Connecticut. I am a 1980 US Air Force Academy graduate and a seven-year Air Force instructor pilot. I have flown for a major US Airline since 1987 and I retired in September of 2023. I have been type-rated in the MD-80, B-737, B-757, B-767, B-777, A-300-600 and the MD-11. I am a recently retired (9/6/23) 777 Captain.
I have traveled the world and I have come to the conclusion that there is no place like home. It's been a great ride. I am very new to the MSFS and P3D world and I love it. Please feel welcome to offer any advice that you deem helpful.

FSIPanel makes it so much easier to practice these non normal approaches then flying the aircraft to sort final. Without FSIP, I would often just continue the approach because I had so much invested into the flight already that I wanted the reward of landing it. Now, it is a click of a button and I can do as many approaches as I want. Thanks FT.

You got the skills Captain. Great job 👍
I will train these scenarios too.

Always great to view your videos. My favorite was the bounced landing. Do you think that you could do a video on a go-around when caught in a windshear during an approach?

Great suggestion! Peter. I’ll have to see if there is a way to simulate a wind shear. We have very specific procedures for windshear, so there’s lots of material to work with.

Hi Father Time, that has to be one of the best comments yet "I'm going to try and fly the approach badly!" yeah I noticed you really struggling as I think it's fair to say your badly is way better than my best! However I did like the education of different missed approaches, I didn't realise there were three different missed approaches until now...........See that's why I keep coming back for more..............All the very best my friend...........Dave.

Hi Dave. Most of us really pilots are nervous about going around. We don’t practice it more than twice a year in training, and the litany is never natural. Most of us will brief the litany if the weather is bad or we are have tight spacing on the aircraft ahead of us. Naturally, the one we never practice in training and never brief on approach is the bounced landing. It is really a hard-flown finesse maneuver. Always great to hear from you my friend. Jeff

@@FatherTime1958 Omg so annoying I typed a reply and then lost it. I wanted to say, here I go again.
I guess the bouncy go around is the one most likely to cause damage to the aircraft isn't it, and probably get you in trouble with your company too. The other two I guess you get comments about using too much fuel, oh well.............The crew moan they are late home for dinner, but no real damage done.
I took my 747 up for a flight the other day VECC Calcutta to VNKT Kathmandu, it was only 300 miles about an hour but a nice cool Rnav approach in the destination amoungst the mountains..............I wish my PC was better so I could record some of these flights for UA-cam using OBS...............Still I will just have to watch yours instead. All the very best Dave.

I would love to see you make videos. You’ve been doing the flight simulator gig for a long time. American has a no-fault go-around policy. They want you to be in the go-around mind set on every approach. They have automated feedback programs that will trigger a phone call on every go-around, but it is for data only. They will also call if you are unstable and continue. Yes, the bounced landings have a much greater chance of causing airframe damage if you catch a tail or wing. Jeff

@@FatherTime1958 Oh interesting. Our trucks at work do the same thing, telemetry send back every gear change and brake application, even how hard you accelerate and how far you pushed the accelerator pedal down.........Oh I didn't tell you, I had an hour in a full cockpit 747 flight sim the other month. Did three flights one around San Francisco, one around Anchorage and the best landing at the old Kai Tak in Hong Kong............Brilliant and so cool................I must find a way to show you that one.
