Hi Christine. We own a home in Tulum. A note about mosquitoes. They are more of a problem in the summer months when it is hot, humid, and rains more often (but briefly). That is because the limestone that the entire Yucatan Peninsula is made of is notoriously slow to allow rainwater to soak into the ground after a rain, leaving many puddles in those potholes and low spots you mentioned. Perfect for mosquitoes. But, let me pass on an old army ranger trick I was taught in the military from those guys who trained in the jungles of Panama: Vitamin B Complex. Take large doses twice daily and you will be bitten less, and the few bites you get will itch and redden far less. It's also more palatable than raw garlic (and you'll smell nicer to your boyfriend). He will thank me.
When you touch down at the airport be sure to power cycle your phone to make sure you’re on the right time zone 🤦🏾♀️ I missed my Ado because my phone was not right🤦🏾♀️

I was in Tulum for the first time in early July . Loved the beautiful bohemian vibes but yes it was hot and one thing that saved me from melting away was a fan! I definitely plan on going back!
Oooo you know the place! Oh I’m melting. today I melted after riding a moped all over the beach road sitting in traffic getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. I love it. kinda like i love ice cream even after i have to drink it. 😂
@@ChristineLozada 🤣😂that’s called a milkshake! ✌🏽And yeah despite the 20+ mosquito bites I got - I lost count but I still do want to return! 🤦🏽♀️ One of my coworkers told me that vitamin B repels them so maybe try that!! Have fun!
I am so grateful something told me to pack a mini flash light! I was lacking at the ruins and walked way too far down the beach. Heading back it was literally can’t see my hand in front of me pitch black! I never been so scared in my life trying to find my bike in the dark. All I kept thinking about was the Jaguar signs that were down the main road 😂😂
My best friend and I are going for a week, Sept 11 - Sept 18, just a little concerned about the weather, it's rainy season. Thanks for all the great tips though, very helpful
I'm back from my trip, had an amazing time. The weather was perfect all 7 days. We got caught in one down pour that only lasted a few minutes. Staying at an all inclusive resort kinda kept us from venturing out much, but we did visit ruins and Tulum City. Authentic Mexican food options for vegetarian/vegans are plentiful in Tulum. We found a hut like vegan taco spot that was absolutely delicious 😋
You're hilarious and helpful. Thanks for the vid and info! I'm currently deciding b/w Cabo and Tulum, which would be, I'm sure, vastly different trips.
I just found you and you have alot of super helpful videos! I'm doing a solo trip later in the year and was going to book transport on viator, but I'm definitely going with ADO bus now. Same time and way cheaper, probably safer too.Where does the bus drop you off in Tulum? How did you get from there to your hotel, bike or taxi? Also what brand is your portable charger?
I love your videos. I'm planning trip September 14 through 19, 2022. Any helpful insights you may give me please? Is the weather okay enough to travel there?
we are staying in town. we have a rental car but the home we are staying in also provides bikes. is it more clever to ride a bike to the beach or take the car? i'm flying in first on the 23rd of Jan. and staying in Cancun for 4 days before my friends get in. any tips for Cancun? Google says the average temp is 76. Does it get cool at night? Thanks!
ooooh my answers will change as the weather does in tulum. if it's busy and there is a ton of traffic: bike. parking can be hard at the beach if its busy and traffic can be SCARY if it's busy. as for the weather.. it's the weather! and tulum is a jungle. i love using weather channel app premium version for the MOST up to date info on weather. it helps me for flying my drone 🤘🏽
Really love you vids. I am a new sub to your channel I have booked Tunich Cabannas end of March for a 2 wk stay as a senior ( 78) solo traveler and first time in Tulum. Decided on that place as I wanted to experience both the jungle and the beach in one location without the hassel of traveling from the town to beach and back. I am not an experienced solo traveler so ...my bad... I did not ck all the reviews prior to booking..yes I know I can cancel.. and when I did ck I found a mixed bag...one thing I have not been able to find a pix of the beach but I did see lots of places to eat just down the road. Anyway I was wondering if you have ever reviewed that place and or can you give me your expert opinion if you think it is a place for me or might be able possible to reccom a similiar property in that or lower price range ( Tunich is my max budget ) that has what I am looking for... beach and jungle? Thanks so much and I look forward to your reply....all the best...Terry
Great infomational video yet again! Did you rent a car from Cancun and return it in Tulum? If so, which car rental place did you use? Most of the reviews I've read mention that the car rentals try to finesses you with insurance and fees. I was just trying to rent a car for one day to visit Itzchen Icha and the Cenotes. Any suggestions would be appreciated! On the side note: do you remember the exchange rates in the town? Thank you!
@make it make sense Got it! I was going to do that but to go to Itzchen Icha I feel like you'll want a car right? I dont think there is ADO buses that go there.
Oo that’s true, you’d need to go with a tour operator. While i don’t think it’s impossible to get there via public transport my guess is you’d be taking collectivos and it wouldn’t be easy
Great questions! I don’t rent cars in Mexico (after a previously very bad experience) but SO MANY people do and have a grrreat time doing it. I’m hoping someone else in the comments might know the answer to this and can help out!
