Those Hydra's sound nice out on the trails. Can always hear who's rockin the I9's. Killer Bees get everyone's attention. Keep up the great vids Tony!! Need more for 2021.🤘🤘
Loud hubs save lives!!! I LOVE the sound of my I9 hubs. I had the torch and just ordered a set with a the Hydra. Can’t wait. I can’t stand silent hubs. I’ll never get used to the sound of the i9 hubs. It’s music to a trail rider.
I have 10 years on the torch hubs to dt swiss ex471. Trail days with climbs and chunky downs to chairlift park days. If they fit my new bike they would be on the new bike the minute I got it.
I just got my I9 EN315's on November 8th. I can't say enough great things about them. Probably the last brand of wheels I will ever ride because 1. they are indestructable, 2. Maintenance is so easy, 3. Nothing looks better than I9.
Still like your wheels? I have en305 hydra and the rear will not stay together. Tensions are all over the place always having to tighten spokes and getting tires on and off these things is a pain in the ass. I'm selling mine asap
Oh wow after watching this I can't wait for my custom built Alpha bike wheels with the same fox orange Hydra hubs. Which will reach by the next month. And it's going to be the first pair in india. Thanks for the video 🙏🙏
@@MTBdropIN Yep, so good. It’s really hard to explain. It’s just one of those things you have to try; I mean really put the setup through it’s paces. How are you liking it so far?
You know, I9 doesn't just make Hydra hubs. They also make 1/1 which i have a pair and i love them! They are better than the ones i had. (stout). I think most wouldn't be able to tell the difference between 90 points and the engagement of the hydra using 29er wheels.
I got my hydra wheels for my trail bike... thought I was done... then I found myself fiddling around on the laptop configuring a 26 inch set with hydra hubs on the i9 website! Looks like the dj might be getting an upgrade soon 😎
Hey man, I’m the dude that talked to you at Greer about these wheels, went home and bought a pair that night. You should have mentioned your UA-cam presence!
I have had Hydras...Torch and reluctantly went to Onyx Vesper. Once you have sprawled engagement and that silence theres no looking back for me. I now get irritated riding my I9 but they still make a killer Hub.
@@MTBdropIN will do. It’s gonna be a hot minute till it’s done. Taking my time and not rushing this build. It’s going to be my zero compromise built just the way i want it. Listened to too many guys at the shop and switched a bunch of stuff that I wasn’t happy with in the end
It looks like 40mm inner width, I could be wrong though but I have the 35mm i.w. and that looks even wider. The older one looks like 21 or 25mm I.w. like my old Dt swiss with 21mm inner width.
Okay found the link my bad so I’m new to hubs and stuff do you know exactly which hub you got? Bc there are all different kinds lol I just want my bike to be loud and good engagement
I just bought a bike with I9 hubs. I definitely notice the difference in engagement, however to the average Joe rider ( myself included...LOL), I don't think it makes a huge difference. Prior to this I had bikes with Ibis hubs and DT Swiss 350 and they perform well too. I see your point how the noise can be an advantage with Mountain lions, etc. However, I'd like to make them permanently more quiet. I don't think there is a way to accomplish this...LOL.
Yes there is in fact! Put thick dumondtec grease it quiets it a ton. To your point, if you ride anything that is carbon the average joe shouldn’t be able to tell either 😁
this is super awesome!!! I really like what I see and hear on this HUB wheel set I like to get rid of that "#CLUNK" of my present bike bit I hope I can find it for #QR i've got an older bike but I hope I can get this later! Sweet info about the #grease makes total sense thanks for the informative video. Gracias dude!
I’m 5”6 and I ride medium but if small bikes re sold as easy and mediums I would ride a small. But I grew up on big dirt bikes so I’m used to a bigger bike
More points of engagement increases durability? how so? btw, not ANYTHING against I9, I actually run I9 hubs in all my wheelsets, just very curious as to how that statement is true.
I can’t say it’s just something I know i9 states I would ask them for the scientific answer. I’ll give you my theory... the more engagement the less stress there is on any one paw,
