- In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

the eclipse that were made from 1995-1999 model are still my favorite up to this day.

in europe you don't see many automatic transmissions it's mostly manual so we don't have problems with that

I drive manual cars once in a while but I dont see whats the big damn problem about an automatic car. Not everyone prefers a stick or knows how to drive one. Car companies have to please everyone you know. I prefer an auto myself and i'm not afriad to admit it.

the guy before me put a battery to big in my eclipse. it kept touching my hood and kept me from starting the car. when I figured it out I covered the terminals with rubberized plastic caps, had no problems afterwords, and non of my electrical components were fried. everything was fine! certainly proved it's potential in electrical absorbing

Too many cheap red accents.
Looks like this car has been through a lot of use. Some fading a wear. But still a cool looking car for the miles and age. It still shines for the most part too. I love the red gauges too! Saabkyle04... you rock!
this is a LONG SHOT but does anyone happen to know the exhaust brand and how low that eclipse is sitting?? I like that height and want to do that to mine

I use to own a base Eclipse RS just like this one, red and everything. Mine wasn't modded to hell like this one is but it was a great car for me. I had it for 7 years and it never gave me a problem. It was not very fast, nor did it handle great (it came with stock 14" wheels), but it was very reliable and it looked cool. It was a good car for me during my college years. It's a good starter car, but not really meant for anyone over 22 or 23.
@stoone113 in a 4 speed automatic P is park, R is reverse, D is drive (3rd & 4th gear), 2 is 2nd gear, and it won't upshift from 2nd if in 2, and 1 or L is 1st gear. 2 and L are best used for compression braking to save brake pad, or if you're going downhill in the mountains, or if you're trying to pull something and don't want it to upshift. I use L when I'm on steep gravel in a FWD automatic, because I can gently put on the power, without it possibly jerking the wheels too much when it shifts.

I recently saw an ad selling a 95 Eclipse, Private Sale. Some things wrong of course but cheap enough so that I can probably get most of the problems fixed. Anyone have any opinions on this kind of car and anything I should know before, or if I buy from said ad?

i owned a 1995 eclipse gs myself.and i can say that the hood scoop (thats what it is called,not a hump,bubble,or anything else,its a HOOD SCOOP) and it just for a look.it isn't because anything sticks up or to make clearance for anything.it is just for look's.if anything,it would be to help cool the motor down at speed,but i highly doubt that.it's not for a turbo,not for battery,not even to serve any function.ITS FOR LOOKS. i hope this helps.=](note,it was that way for ALL 1990's models.)

@judacomadc Part of the motor sticks up higher then the rest, the turbos arent usualy in that spot
@waglok9110 on the 4g63 the cams are in the bump. He has the 420a motor which is reversed like you said. they just didn't make a different hood for it.

@saabkyle04 turbo sits on manifold there for not needing a hood lift, i think it was just for a sporty look

nice car but looks like it might have some electrical problems, i saw it has some bulbs gone out and a turn light missing,also the one neon under the back bumper was never shown turned on.

@queeneboy566 the gs is a 420A non turbo the gst is a 4g63 turbo fwd and teh gsx is a 4g63 turbo awd... thats for the gen 2 dsms

yeah i just bought an 01 eclipse gt with the 3.0L v6 and it has an automatic tranny, but it has the wave spring problem so it will be a stick soon

@TheJaimetexas Really? Because here in Dallas you see tinted lights all the time. I think they just can't be too dark, like completely black like this car.
I love how you always see the 4 cylinder Eclipses riced out. Now it's the Scion Tc's that I see riced out now (along with the normal Civics, Accords, Corollas, etc.). It also confuses me why people will buy the cannon, smoke the lights, and put rims on it without putting disc brakes on the back. I mean, come on, painting your drum brakes?
That Mitsubishi badge on the air bag cover on the passenger side would sure hurt when it spears you in the eye when the airbag goes off.

Thought it was a GSX but saw it was an automatic..... You should really do a review on a GSX eclipse, or a 3000gt VR4 twin turbo. Those are great cars.
Those wheels are pretty sweet with the red (or are they orange?) accents. And yeah, smoking the headlights doesn't seem like a smart idea, but the tails don't look too bad IMO. Too bad it's manual everything (someone I'm pretty sure paid extra to have the automatic installed).
Power sunroof but no power windows?
This must be an RS.. Bottom of the line of eclipses basically same as the GS minus power accessories .. I have a GS 5speed.. On the GS, Theres an automatic sunroof sliding 2 piece cover, A cargo cover, also a net separator in the trunk area.. Not sure if the RS came with those or if your missing them.
RS's also have rear drums while GS has rotors. or atleast mine and my buddies do. the 96 models like these are the happiest eclipses ive ever seen
GS is non-turbo, right? it was the GS-R that was turboed i think
@judacomadc haha, no typical reason at all, it's basically just for looks, turbo kits on an eclipse don't sit right there at all, the only thing that sits under that spot on the 420a engine stock is the intake pipe and battery, and on the 4g63t engine the only thing in that area is the right side of the engine.

I like and I have always liked the 1995-99 Eclipse,the design and the engine but here you have one really cheaply customized Eclipse in a bad shape which I a shame for that type of a car and if I pretend that I did not saw all that I just can't stand an automatic gearbox,just f*** it.
yeah its pretty nice, it has 157,000 miles, the steering wheel is worn down pretty bad but every thing else is nice, ive decided to put an automatic back in and sell it for around $3500

If you ever find another one from this generation, do a driving video of it if it isn't too much trouble for you. My dad worked with a guy that has a '98, he wanted to sell it, he doesn't anymore. I like the manuals better.
Putting a metal logo on the airbag was a smart idea. That way, when the airbag goes off in a crash, the logo will shoot out at the passenger, likely injuring them severely.
PwnMaster881, try going for a 1999 eclipse, the interior is black leather instead of gray or tan.

@saabkyle04 no,it is not.all models of the 1990's eclipse had them.even the non turbo versions. (i owned a 1995 eclipse gs.which is non turbo) it is basically for flash,just like what ford did with the mustang hoods and side vents,half (if not all) of the "vents" didnt even "vent.".it was just for show and looks.=p
