Italians made some absolute beautiful sounding and looking synthesisers. I love Italian synths. Very nice playing BTW.
Thank you so much! and yes especially this keyboard has a lot to say!
Very beautiful playing
Thank you so much!!
The memories come flooding back as I watch your vid. I had a GEM S3 Turbo & it was stolen 17 years ago. Still trying to get another one of these rare beasts! Hopefully it will happen.
Awwhh gutted!! Get another, they're great as you well know ........
Never even seen one of these before. Sounds great!
It is an Italian brand, I mean it was! :-)
I'm a synth guy from way back. Never heard of this great sounding synth. Oh what a treat for the ears!!
Welcome Scott! I agree it is unique and very espressive! Have a nice musical day!
Ahhh the s3!! I have always wanted one...Sounds great, Very underestimated Synth!
It is a little heavy! but the sound is really interesting! have a great day :-)
I've been a vintage synth nut before they were vintage and I've never heard of this model. It sounds great though!
I agree, it is a real good machine!! have a great music day!
Hey You are a real great keys player, also seen on the Ultranova and KS4 videos! This synth is completely underrated, having polyphonic aftertouch and since early 90's I think able to get owner sample loaded in ...
Thank you so much!!! Exactly you can load you're own samples, and the touch sensitivity of the keys is on another level, a different technology, much much better than other expensive keyboard, have a great day!
@@DamianoDellaTorre888 Yes, thank you so much Mr Keys!!! I’m a massive fan of the old GEM S2/r/3 Turbo Series - I have a fully working S3 Turbo as my master controller for the studio, as you mention with lovely action Poly Aftertouch 😃 (if you’ve ever seen the actual insides of the design with actuation wires for the AT, it’s amazing!!). Also have same model in repair plus 2x S2 Turbos in repair. Even the Rack ‘r’, though looking to sell that now. Huge disk sets I have too, but like most others nowadays, fitted floppy emulator with USB thumb drive 😎👍🎹🎵🍻🇬🇧
@@theaudioeng i have a s3 turbo, it only need a power supply board repaired. How much for the rack version??? Maybe some dollars and s3 turbo parts???????
Thanks, this is very much needed -- picked one up a couple years ago. Never heard of it of course, but was convinced by the fact it had poly AT. Could really use a second camera (or intro) to know how you've got it set (I assume you are also using the proprietary triple pedal) ... not a lot of info available about these machines, so that would be a real help
I agree! I'll do something better soon!
@@DamianoDellaTorre888 -- aw gee, you're very kind! Please msg me of whatever, so I know when it happens. This is a fantastic machine, for the few of us who have one
very good italian instrument!
I agree!
So nice played. This is not a “strike a key, feel good, get bored soon” -kind of an instrument. I know. Happy to own the S2 myself. Again, you play it well!
Thank you so much!! yes yes it is a lovely keyboard! very expressive!! thank you again 🙂
@@DamianoDellaTorre888 You're welcome. Twenty years ago I wrote a song on this synth (because it was the only synth I owned back then), and I was lucky to own track-recording software on my pc (big thing in those days). I really don't want to brag, but you will be amazed how rich this synthesizer (GEM S2) can sound. ua-cam.com/video/xboEFyfesgw/v-deo.html
@@pendago8484 Absolutely beautiful track! thank you so much for sharing!!
What is the name of the solo sound at 3:49? I want it! Can you please sample it !
Hi I will check soon as possible, I'm sure it is a factory patch!
Hi Kambata1, bank 9/performance 10 "Dark Quack", the solo sound is a Saw wave sample (the patch is made up of 8 overlapping and split samples) 😉🎹
Bravissimo....W Le Gem, turbo o no?S2_3?
I have s GM S2 that I bought for 95 in Austin TX. I love the sounds.
Is there much difference between the s2 and s3?
Hi! it is only one octave of keyboard difference 🙂
@@DamianoDellaTorre888 Oh ok. Thanks for the reply. I have another question; Can I sequence a drum pattern or are there preset drum patterns in the synth itself?
@@christhedemocrat I don't think that there are drum patterns in the synth itself, but you can record them with the internal sequencer for sure, the good thing about this machine is that you can load new sample ( drum samples for example ) and use it with the internal sequencer 🙂
@@DamianoDellaTorre888 Thanks again. I'll have to read the manual to find how to record patterns. That's what I was trying to figure out. That'll be a game changer for me 💯
@@DamianoDellaTorre888 If you could point me in the right direction on how to do that, or do a quick video on it (record and add samples) I'd Greatly Appreciate it.
How come this thing isn't more well known? It sounds like a million bucks, and it's got polyphonic aftertouch? I mean, come on, what's not to like? And yes, I know that GEM had slightly dodgy reputation due to semi-toy keyboards, but this sounds absolutely lush.
I agree man, I think it was a kind of "mistake" by GEM! And the keybed is really good and unique. Hope you can find one somewhere 🙂
@@DamianoDellaTorre888 Yeah, I might look into getting one in the future. For now, I am prioritising something slightly more vintage and analogue.
Are u Pat? 7:48 😍
Hehe!! almost!! ;-)
I had this machine and sold it in the early 2000's.....FACEPALM!
It is a really cool Synth, maybe you can find another one!
