Dear Sir,with the help of your information and review,I just ordered my first bolt action rifle..
Its a Sako s20 in a special edition.
It's custom built by Roedale in Germany,
    It's a.308 with a 20"fluted barrel with a snipergrey cerakote.
It has a hunter back end and a precision fore
end,to me the best of both worlds.
It comes in true timber strata camo,so you helped me make that choice.it has a roedale muzzlebrake in the same cerakote finish as the barrel.
Roedale fluted the bolt, and tuned the
action and trigger, the trigger is set at 500 grams, but it can still be adjusted.
Due to their work it comes with a 1/2moa guaranty..
There is a utg 360 recon t! bipod under it, and A meopta optika6 4.5-27 x50ffp rd mrad scope on top.
Looking forward to shooting it,but it will take at least 2 month's.
It is because of people like you that i get enthousiasted and interested in shooting bolt action rifles and i thank you for that.
You are a big inspiration to me.Please keep up making all those great video's because i'm sure they are much appriciated.
All the best from the Netherlands.
    With kind regards,Barry.

Incredible marksmanship! I heard the Sako ammo is the most accurate, per a couple of other impartial videos whose ammo is, like yours, also not subsidized.
From Canada here, just getting into rifles after decades of not even touching anything more powerful than a pellet rifle. Since suppressors are illegal across the board here from some likely ridiculous reason, I considered something in a lighter calibre, but no, I'll get something powerful as I like & deal with the consequences at ranges. My intent is to get good, then to hunt deer or perhaps elk.
I need to be discrete about owning any kind of firearm, I'll spare the details why - but this means I need to carry any rifle I get in a guitar case. This is why I want a "takedown" rifle, so I may split the rifle into discrete parts.
I initially wanted a Browning BLR Takedown '81 Stainless barrel lever action as my first centerfire rifle, in 30-06. I still do - but get in line, it'll be a year before I can get something like that.
I noticed the Sako S20 Hunter is modular/takedown, and very highly rated. I read that the Tikka T3X in 30-06 has more recoil than is necessary, so with Sako/Tikka being mostly the same company, I was hoping to get someone's opinion on how the S20 handles recoil with the larger calibres (.308 and over), does a muzzle brake make much of a difference, is the heavier weight of the Sako vs. Tikka T3X a blessing or a curse re: recoil, and another piece of info I'm having a bit of trouble finding - when taken down, the S20's action & barrel portion - how long is it? Is the 30-06 barrel 20", or 24"? With a muzzle brake? Do the Sako barrels come shorter as the calibres decrease, like with Tikka? If I can't fit the rifle into a 45" guitar case, I might as well be driving a tank.
Any advice appreciated. Learning much from this channel! Only marksmanship I've seen that compares is some Russian guy who hits 20cm groups on gongs at 2kms....and maybe an Australian air gunner who neuters rats at 150m.

Great review, managed to pick up a secondhand S20 virtually brand new only shot 24 rounds it was the 24” barrel version but I got Andrew at RifleCraft to lop down and it’s 22&1/4” currently testing factory loads S&B Blues coming in at 1/2 MOA same with Hornady Super Performance GMX 120’s next up are those RWS . This vid is very useful, thanks.

Awesome review mate. Picked one up two weeks ago in 7 mm. Waiting on scope to test the accuracy. A you tuber called Hooteehoo tested the 7 mm. Version and got a .27 inch group with Remington core locked tipped, 150 grains bullets. Pretty incredible accuracy. Hopefully mine does the same.

Just had mine at the range today for the first time. First two on paper at 50 yards were in the same hole just right of center after a bore sight. The third one went in the same hole again but just maybe half a hole high. Absolutely insane to me considering how the 7mm kicks. I love this gun.

Just stumbled across your cracking video, (you have a new subscriber).
I'm picking one of these up this week, (the precision stock model with the heavy, longer barrel). By the looks of things 1/4 inch groups will be possible with handloads.
Quick question for you, (given the very impressive groups you obtained), did you measure your distance from the lands or did you just work back from the max OAL?
    Regards,

Dear Sir,thank you for this nice review.
I would like to ask your opinion on how the stock feels with this camo look.
The normal version feels very "plastic"..at least to me it does,.does the camo version feels better as i imagine sako has put another layer on top of the normal material to make this beautyfull strata camo.
Thank you,and warm greetings from the Netherlands.

    • @broadswordballistics
      @broadswordballistics  Рік тому

Personally I really like the stock. Its not as solid feeling as say a Mcmillan but then its lighter but it sits on an aluminium chassis so is very rigid. The camo finish is better than the std finish which is a bit smooth, plus the Camo is really nice looking and practical.

Probably a silly question BUT every review I have seen shows someone switching between one stock and the other. Don't suppose you actually get both when you buy it, do you? I assume it is for video-making purposes only.
Currently weighing up either a Tikka T3x or this Sako S20 (in .270). Great video, thank you.

Monolithic copper bullets do not do well after jacketed lead bullets . Rifle needs to be thoroughly cleaned before using monolithics.

Will someone ever make a rewiew of hunting rifle in a true hunting caliber? Is so dificult to find a rewiew in any a little precision rifle in 7mmRm, 300wm, 270w. Could it be because Those rifles don’t make tight groups with these recoils?
