I believe it’s HPSP you are talking about. ( health professions scholarship program). I believe if you do get a healthcare profession you come in as an 03 in certain branches. You get an officer stipend in school and they pay for school.
If he doesn't get ROTC they still have loan repayment programs. I owed about 60K in student loans and the Army paid back about 45K. No ROTC. I was Army RN and I also got 20K bonus each year based on meeting certain education requirements and my specialty. Pharmacist he would probably get a bigger bonus..He should also look at Public Health Service. They use Navy rank and all that, but the PHS has lots of great opportunities as well.
