The show's third season was completely laid out before ABC swung the axe: The Freedom Fighters, now dubbed "Freedom Builders", would have begun the process of rebuilding Mobotropolis, with Rotor spearheading the construction effort. (Some of that was explored during the middle part of the Archie Comic, but this coincided with the soap opera elements coming into play, and it later became moot when "Eggman" swooped in and took over his counterpart's base of operations.) Sonic would discover that Victory Is Boring, but unbeknown to him, Snively is sneaking around Robotropolis and gathering intel on the Freedom Fighters. However, his stint as lead villain would prove short-lived, and in a moment of desperation he would free Naugus, Robotnik, and King Acorn from the Void. (The pair of sinister red eyes glaring at the viewer when the show closes belong to Naugus.) Naugus would immediately claim the villain crown: using the King as bait to lure Sally in, turning Robotnik into a Snively equivalent, and in turn downgrading Snively into essentially nothing. Snively was slated to defect to the Freedom Fighters, although he would plot to betray them at some point; Antoine would end up being the only one to notice - and ultimately stop - Snively's plans. The show would have eventually confirmed, as some fans had already speculated, that Mobius was Earth All Along, with the plot set millennia after a human-purging nuclear war which caused animals to become sapient. Robotnik and Snively were to be the last humans left alive, having been off-world on a space colony mission before the war struck. After betraying and killing the rest of their crew, they returned to Earth and, due to relativity, landed after the animals had already taken stewardship of the planet. Once again, the Archie comic would reused this concept but with aliens bombarding the Earth with Gene Bombs after Robotnik’s ancestor dissected their emissary. Tails would have matured and played a much larger role in the Freedom Fighters, even showing a bit of a rebellious side and saving Knothole from a major disaster. His later relationship with Sonic would have been closer to the games. Dulcy would have come into her full powers. All Ben Hurst said about that was, You don’t want to see a dragon when she gets mad. Sally would be romanced by someone other than Sonic, though Sonic would come out on top in the end. The insufferable Geoffrey St. John (a faux-British skunk) was Sonic's rival for Sally's affections in the Archie storyline. Sonic would also undergo a major personality change. NICOLE's backstory would reveal that she was once a Mobian child who was downloaded into a computer by Robotnik. At some point NICOLE would be restored to her former self, becoming a member of the Freedom Fighters. This, too, was revisited in the Archie comic, with NICOLE turning into a Lynx as a pun on the Atari handheld. At some point, Knothole would "get crunched", whatever that meant. Knuckles was supposed to appear at the end of the season, and was going to be be promoted to a main character in the also-nonexistent fourth season.
Sonic SatAm is one those shows I wish had continued. Sonic was allowed to be emotional and I grew to love Sonic because of his characteristics here. I wish Sega didn't have that rule about Sonic not looking weak. I am conflicted with Sonic because he has too many versions that people latched onto. I don't blame folks for having their favorite version of him. I think this show is a nice watch with plenty of flaws. Thank you for this review and looking forward to more.

Hot take: I actually prefer the slapsticky weirdness of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog over the darkness and seriousness of SatAM. For a few reasons: - AoStH focuses more on the game elements. It features the Chaos Emeralds, the music and sfx, the badniks (including Scratch, Grounder and Coconuts themselves) and the levels like Marble Zone, Casino Night Zone, Labyrinth Zone, Star Light Zone, Scrap -Brain- Valley Zone, Chemical Plant Zone and even the special stages and at one point you can see Sonic inhaling a bubble underwater. - Tails is better utilized in AoStH than he is in SatAM. Without the Freedom Fighters, Tails gets more focus, more screentime, more active role as Sonic's sidekick, more fleshed-out character and relationship with Sonic. In AoStH we actually see Tails build gadgets since he's supposed to be a young genius, whereas in SatAM he feels like an afterthought and may as well not even be there, especially since SatAM already has Rotor as the inventor. - given the light-hearted nature of AoStH, it doesn't really NEED any sort of ending - it's tonally accurate to the games - Sonic likes to travel 24/7 (doesn't have a house), the places he visits are abstract and otherworldly, Robotnik always tries to take over the world and Sonic always stops him, Robotnik's plans tend to backfire on him - it's got WAY more memorable quotes and moments than SatAM to a point where I think AoStH is referenced more than SatAM
I would love to see a 'Into the Spideyverse' style Sonic crossover, where the more comedic Dr Eggmen are completely intimidated by SatAM's Robotnik, who manage's to galvanize them into a formidable threat against the Sonic's.
23:00 huh, I guess the brazilian airing of Kamen Rider Black was not the only thing that got canceled due to power rangers... for the curious, context: Here in brazil we actually got tokusatsu shows airing on TV, metal heroes, super sentai, kamen rider however, after Sabam got the rights for those show (and the main channel airing them going out of bussines) put a stop to that infamously, Kamen Rider Black got canceled and stopped airing at its penultimate episode.

It's pretty amazing how they managed to make a strong story-driven show about Sonic, especially with having Robotnik already in control of the city. The voice actors also did a great job here, especially Kath Soucie as Sally, Christine Cavanaugh as Bunny, Jim Cummings as Robotnik, and Tim Curry as the King. It's a shame that this show ended on a cliffhanger. I've never been much of a fan of those, especially for season finales. Also regarding the animation, I really didn't like how they changed Rotor's design in Season 2. Not only was that new design lame, but it also annoys me whenever a show drastically changes a character's design mid-series. Or at least without any explanation, like say an upgrade or loss of power. Seriously, if you're going to that, either do it right after the pilot episode (which granted did happen after this show's pilot), or wait for a reboot/new adaptation.
Executive Meddling: Sega Enterprises was known to make frustrating and seemingly-arbitrary demands. For example, like many American cartoons, the characters were all originally designed with four fingers instead of five. The designs were approved by Sega of America, but were rejected by Sega Enterprises, who were reportedly afraid that it would be associated with the Yakuza's tendency to chop off victims' fingers. This resulted in DiC having to reanimate a number of already-completed scenes to include additional fingers. Almost all of the writing staff who worked on Season 1 were removed sometime before development of Season 2 began, leaving Ben Hurst as essentially the sole writer for the series going forward. The remaining staff were pushed to create Dulcy to balance out the gender ratio of the Freedom Fighters. The four Antoine shorts were also a request of executives, as a part of their demand to lighten up the series by adding more comedy.
The show is available legally on UA-cam one one of the Wildbrain channels. I don't know if they have any of the other Sonic shows. DIC has been absorbed by other companies that got absorbed or rebranded so finding their current library owners requires research.
This show was basically X-men lite. The mooks were basically sentinels from the X-Men. Beast Machines is basically the closest to a new sonic satam show

The comics were good for the most part until Ken Penders took so many liberties with the story and characters (mostly the echidnas) that he went to court over it, so what writers resolved to do was write in a retcon for it in the form of the Super Genesis Wave. It was basically Archie's way of saying "You don't want us to use them anymore, fine they don't exist anymore." (Personal account of the last issues for a subscription) It was too bad the comics ended before anything else could be explored. I had a one-year subscription to Mega Man and all three Sonic comics (Main title, Universe, Boom) because worlds unite cross-over. When Mega Man ended they just rolled the number of issues owed to me over to the next subscription. Finally, I was down to 3 issues, but the comic was canceled before my subscription was finished. It wasn't until months later (and I was about to move too) that they delivered me 3 issues of Cosmo. At the very least the sent me something, but after that, it was over for me and Archie.
Penders worked on the Sonic comic almost from the very begining. So much of the lore, especially Knuckles' world and family history was his own brainchild. So when he got the Pink slip, he took it with him.

Once upon a time, there was a lovely princess. But she had an enchantment upon her of a fearful sort, which could only be broken by love's first kiss. She was locked away in a castle guarded by a terrible fire-breathing dragon. Many brave knights had attempted to free her from this dreadful prison, but none prevailed. She waited in the dragon's keep, in the highest room of the tallest tower, for her true love, and true love's first kiss. Like that's ever gonna happen. WHAT A LOAD OF (toilet flush)!!! To be brutally honest, those people who defending this TV series and treating Amy Rose like a shit, this forcefully reminds me of the way the Kingdom of Melromarc, King Trash and Princess Bitch treat Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising Of The Shield Hero. Goddammit !! Are the both fanbase of the series, and the Sonic series Creators involved in this bigger-class scheme where Amy Rose has given no mercy, damn it? What the hell is that, Amy needs to be treated the same way the punch off assholes treat Shield Hero and his team, both in the series itself and on social media? WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS? And this is the biggest reason that makes me hate this series, even more and more. But, if something positive has to be said, my anger at this series helped to create my own passion project. And that passion project is a web manga comic called FOX OF THE CITY !! If you don't know what Fox Of The City is, it is a series, whose artstyle is a mix of Sonic The Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot and anime. And it takes also lot of influences from Sonic X, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Biker Mice From Mars. And the series tells the story of five mutant bounty hunters who investigate crime in the late 2010s in Japan. The series began to be released in January 2013 and has 19 chapters. Chapters 20 and 21 are currently in production. And the series is a mix of sci-fi, thriller, action and adventure, comedy and drama. And the series also contains a lot of satire from both modern society and popular culture. And yes, even Sonic The Hedgehog also gets criticism. Basically, if Sonic is like Disney, so Fox Of The City is basically Shrek. In Chapter 17, Koshiro and Misaki, the protagonists of the series, infiltrate a terrorist base, and in an enemy café, terrorists begin to look at Sonic SatAM, and Koshiro snaps because of this and blows up the entire cafe with lightning. And scream that, “Pika, Pika MOTHERFU .. KABOOM !! Maybe I should be grateful that this video made a flame inside me re-ignite, just when I have had problems with my motivation to do my own series. Who would have believed that anger and bitterness in a series or creation helps to create a passion project.
Sorry for looking like an edgy contrarian but this show is so grossly overrated. The story is bare-bones and basic, the screenplay is rushed, the music is drivel, and the characters are the most underwhelming and overhyped things in this show.

I know this is superficial, but AOSTH Sonic is much much faster than satam Sonic. I know this is due to the slapstick nature of the show.

To be brutally honest, those people who defending this TV series and treating Amy Rose like a shit, this forcefully reminds me of the way the Kingdom of Melromarc, King Trash and Princess Bitch treat Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising Of The Shield Hero.

And this is the biggest reason that makes me hate this series, even more and more.
But, if something positive has to be said, my anger at this series helped to create my own passion project.
And that passion project is a web manga comic called FOX OF THE CITY !!
If you don't know what Fox Of The City is,
it is
a series, whose artstyle is a mix of Sonic The Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot and anime.
And it takes also lot of influences from Sonic X, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Biker Mice From Mars.
And the series tells the story of five mutant bounty hunters who investigate crime in the late 2010s in Japan.
The series began to be released in January 2013 and has 19 chapters. Chapters 20 and 21 are currently in production.
And the series is a mix of sci-fi, thriller, action and adventure, comedy and drama.
And the series also contains a lot of satire from both modern society and popular culture. And yes, even Sonic The Hedgehog also gets criticism. Basically, if Sonic is like Disney,
so Fox Of The City is basically Shrek.
In Chapter 17, Koshiro and Misaki, the protagonists of the series, infiltrate a terrorist base, and in an enemy café, terrorists begin to look at Sonic SatAM, and Koshiro snaps because of this and blows up the entire cafe with lightning. And scream that,
“Pika, Pika MOTHERFU .. KABOOM !!
Maybe I should be grateful that this video made a flame inside me re-ignite, just when I have had problems with my motivation to do my own series.
Who would have believed that anger and bitterness in a series or creation helps to create a passion project.

Sorry for looking like an edgy contrarian but this show is so grossly overrated. The story is bare-bones and basic, the screenplay is rushed, the music is drivel, and the characters are the most underwhelming and overhyped things in this show.
