    This raga helped me get through a night of sadness and personal termoil. It reminded me of the sublime, the eternal and the vastness of life. What is one night of hardship for one person when the entirety of existance is outside your door to be witnessed. To be grateful to have a chance to see moments in time; never to be repeated and never to be experienced by another living thing makes the lows worth while. Get out of your own head and look outwards to the beauty in the fabric of life.

    भारतीय संगीत यहां की संस्कृति का आधार है। मन को उच्चतम स्तर पर ले जाने में सक्षम है। और इसी से संस्कृति को और पनपने और निखार लाने में सहायक होता है।
    आज समाज में जो दुर्दशा दिखाई देती है वो छद्म धर्मनिरपेक्षता और इंसानियत का विभीष्ट रुप है। उसकी बातें करके लोग अपने आपको बड़े दार्शनिक बताते हैं।
    सच यही है कि महान व्यक्तित्व एकदम शांत और सौम्य होते हैं, विचारों में गहनता। यह संगीत उस और ले जाता है। अतः यही हमारी संस्कृति का आधार है।

    • @selvamthiagarajan8152
      @selvamthiagarajan8152 3 роки тому

      @George Makedon Indian classical music is devotional offering to Hindu deities. Muslims clearly and obviously do not devote their performance to Hindu deities. Historically they played it for the sensual pleasures of the Mughal rulers and their harem, and now for a livelihood. Notes may be the same, but the interpretation of its purpose isn't Hindu in nature. I consider it Islamic.

    • @KnzoVortex
      @KnzoVortex Місяць тому

      The value of Indian classical music is its utter mathematical perfection as a tool for spiritual enrichment. Dhrupad is one of the few “popular” schools of Indian Classical music which keeps unwavering discipline towards rendering the music correctly without much individual tampering, to a degree far beyond most other styles, which, ironically,
      have a lot of Islamic musical influence even if they are played by Hindu people. The Dhrupad family musical lineage is now Islamic by religious affiliation, more due to political reasons than anything, but what they have preserved is a product of some of the pinnacle of bharati wisdom and spiritual realization.

      Hey! I would like to introduce you to a person who transformed me and gave me meaning in life: Jesus. He is the way, the truth and the life. With Him, all things make sense. The death that scared me so much, today doesn't scares me anymore, because I know that His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for all my sins, giving me eternal life. Eternal life is not just for me, it is for everyone who believes in Him, for He died for everyone, including you. This love wants to give a wonderful meaning to your life too. Jesus is our source of peace. I invite you to go to Him, it will be the best decision of your life. Download the Bible on your cellphone and read it, you will find light to your life.❤️
      But he was pierced
      because of our transgressions,
      was crushed because of
      of our iniquities;
      the punishment that brought us peace
      was upon him, and by his wounds
      we were healed.

    A very special recording. Majestic. Exceptionally beautiful and truly awe-inspiring. A masterpiece. I see Indian classical music as nothing less than the pinnacle of humankind's artistic endeavor. It should be celebrated as such and carried forwards as a flaming torch of what we are capable of as a species and as individuals; as a measure of the depth of the human soul. All of life is contained within it.

    My wife and I were lucky enough to see Z. Dagar when he was visiting artist at the University of Washington in the late 70's-early 80's in the Ethnomusicology Dept. The free concerts in the small auditorium are precious memories. We had no concept of the cultural heritage involved but it was intuitively obvious that this was something very special. Time seemed to slow as standing waves of sound permeated the room. We happened to be in a museum-palace in Udiapur and there was an exhibit with a veena and a printout story about the Dagar family as court musicians. What a coincidence.

    In depth, simplicity and swara- concentration this Alap and Jod in Iman surpasses all other vast and complex alap renditions of Ravishankar and Imarat Hussain Khan (surbahar) that I have heard so far, or at any rate, by any instrumentalist of Indian classical music like Annapurna Devi or Mustaq Ali Khan who has adhered to the veenkar style and manner of playing their instruments.
    It is a dream-like journey to eternity on soft waves of sculptured sound.
    This is to remain one of the 5 supreme performances in alap for Indian classical music that I have ever heard , including the vocal performances of the earlier stalwarts Faiyaz Khan, Sharafat Hussain Khan and the great Dagars.

      To talk of alap only the best five that comes to my mind instantly are:
      1.Nasir Moinuddin Dagar's Puriya (vocal)
      2.Imrat Khan's Miya ki Malhar(surbahar)
      3.Imrat Khan's Puriya Dhanasri(surbahar)
      4.Ravi Shankar's Malkauns(sitar)
      5.Ravi Shankar's Ahir Bhairab.
      But frankly, without offending none of these old golden greats, the present expansive alap by Zia Mohiuddin Khan Dagar has given me a rare feeling of peace and solitude that I have never experienced before. I do not feel like talking to anyone for an hour or so every time I hear this. And, I am not a religious man!

    I had incredible and fully immersive visual hallucinations while listening to this with my eyes closed. It's the first time I've been able to experience this from music alone. Quite powerful. Thank you.
