This raga helped me get through a night of sadness and personal termoil. It reminded me of the sublime, the eternal and the vastness of life. What is one night of hardship for one person when the entirety of existance is outside your door to be witnessed. Get out of your own head and look outwards to the beauty in the fabric of life.

Wahre Musik aus den (göttlichen) Sphären hätten Weisen aus dem alten Griechenland sagen können. Danke an den Musiker. Danke für das Hochladen.
I live in the states and I feel this music is Godly for lack of a better word. It penetrates thru the soul, so amazing. This tradition should never die. India is the treasurer of the world wether they know it or not. Their culture is very rich in all aspects. No country on the planet can compare in over all human value like India in my opinion. Wish the world would seriously take a look at the Sages that have walked this Earth and all their wisdom. If the people really new they would be wonder struck. Namaste! ❤️

This is probably the best rendition of raag yaman that I have ever heard. This is nothing but pure bliss, the inner soul feeling the presence of god almighty through this divine rendition.
Today I had the amazing experience of visiting Bahauddhin Dagar's residence in the outskirts of Mumbai - built by his father and over the years home to numerous musicians and students including jazz masters like Don Cherry and Sonny Rollins. He gave us an unforgettable rendition of Raag Jog and we talked about life and music all day long. I am forever grateful for this unique experience and insight into the music of the Dagar family.
Sitting on a couch with loved 1, day after christmas with chosen family, the raag reminds us of the ether and our connection to vibration. Peace and love to all the souls on this youtube video.
I was lecturing on Indian classical music at the University of Jyväskylä', "Finland's Athens", and someone asked: ""Why do we Westerners have such difficulty in understanding Indian music?" I didn't know, but now I've got it: it lacks modulations, or chord changes.
My beautiful country the US is in such turmoil. When all hope get shattered and fear drives you every where on this Election day this music and the magical instrument and this artist who come from a divine sorce. Has been so uplifting. 🙏🏾❤️🥰👍🏾
A very special recording. Majestic. Exceptionally beautiful and truly awe-inspiring. A masterpiece. I see Indian classical music as nothing less than the pinnacle of humankind's artistic endeavor. It should be celebrated as such and carried forwards as a flaming torch of what we are capable of as a species and as individuals; as a measure of the depth of the human soul. All of life is contained within it.
Exquisitely said ! And just what a sensitive, profound and beautiful , person you are - to have felt all this and vibrated to it in complete resonance ! 🙏
Very well said. This recital is unlike any other so far by anyone . Past, present & future. Truly brings out the very soul of Indian Classical Music , which sadly most of the present generation of musicians have lost track of. A benchmark for all to emulate.
A great Muslim composer/ musician in Baharat and not mot a single comment from a Muslim.......I had to pay tribute to him .... this kind of music vibrates your soul..admired by every one especially Hindus and definitely Muslims
😭 ❤🙏🧘♂️ This music cannot be real... it is not of this Earth, not of this time, not of this plane of existence. This comes from somewhere beyond and I am left swimming in tears, depleted of thoughts, one with all. To practise non attachment here will be to summit a mountain that reaches space. But I will try... ☸️
My wife and I were lucky enough to see Z. Dagar when he was visiting artist at the University of Washington in the late 70's-early 80's in the Ethnomusicology Dept. The free concerts in the small auditorium are precious memories. We had no concept of the cultural heritage involved but it was intuitively obvious that this was something very special. Time seemed to slow as standing waves of sound permeated the room. We happened to be in a museum-palace in Udiapur and there was an exhibit with a veena and a printout story about the Dagar family as court musicians. What a coincidence.

I once attended a live concert of Zia Moinuddinji. It was blissful as expected.I learnt Rudra Veena music has been in the family for 19 generations. 19 ,yes! I was listening to the 19th gen descendent! It has to be perfect,no less. They train from babyhood 24/7 And aesthetics are so high and deeply woven into their imagination that it flows ...
The life of traditional North Indian music before 1948 was quite different. It was supported and nurtured by wealthy families from aristocratic heritages with live in musicians and their families, where ancient musical traditions were past down generation to generation. This heritage is sacred and to be cherished. 🙏🙏🙏
My consciousness fades as I am sucked into the tumbling locks of the darkest waters of my mind. Eventually, I awaken, face-up, on the shoreline and this song is playing; spiraling upwards.
That beginning - It pulls you in by the marrow. And I'm finally able to understand what Arati Ankalikar Tikekar meant (while talking of another great - Kishori Amonkar) when she said, '...there's this ehsaas, this realisation that the air, the room and I have all become Yaman...' Precious.
I am astounded by Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagger’s prowess of Vena play,,which resoundingly imitates, someone singing in the background. Amazing and mesmerising. Loved it.

I've waited (procrastinated) on listening to this for a couple of years. And I finally gave myself to it. This is so full of dignity and still retains all the tenderness of something truly beautiful.
Keep coming back to this. Had to face terrible tragedies in life but coming back to this piece is like laying my weary head in the lap of my late mother.
In depth, simplicity and swara- concentration this Alap and Jod in Iman surpasses all other vast and complex alap renditions of Ravishankar and Imarat Hussain Khan (surbahar) that I have heard so far, or at any rate, by any instrumentalist of Indian classical music like Annapurna Devi or Mustaq Ali Khan who has adhered to the veenkar style and manner of playing their instruments. It is a dream-like journey to eternity on soft waves of sculptured sound. This is to remain one of the 5 supreme performances in alap for Indian classical music that I have ever heard , including the vocal performances of the earlier stalwarts Faiyaz Khan, Sharafat Hussain Khan and the great Dagars.
Agreed. This is a very rare gem. This piece of music just takes you into another world. Among my playlist too this is among top 5. Words are less to describe this kind of music, it could be only felt in heart and soul. Eternal. Very fortunate to listen to this kind of music.
@@adityamudugal To talk of alap only the best five that comes to my mind instantly are: 1.Nasir Moinuddin Dagar's Puriya (vocal) 2.Imrat Khan's Miya ki Malhar(surbahar) 3.Imrat Khan's Puriya Dhanasri(surbahar) 4.Ravi Shankar's Malkauns(sitar) 5.Ravi Shankar's Ahir Bhairab. But frankly, without offending none of these old golden greats, the present expansive alap by Zia Mohiuddin Khan Dagar has given me a rare feeling of peace and solitude that I have never experienced before. I do not feel like talking to anyone for an hour or so every time I hear this. And, I am not a religious man!

Hey! I would like to introduce you to a person who transformed me and gave me meaning in life: Jesus. He is the way, the truth and the life. With Him, all things make sense. The death that scared me so much, today doesn't scares me anymore, because I know that His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for all my sins, giving me eternal life. Eternal life is not just for me, it is for everyone who believes in Him, for He died for everyone, including you. This love wants to give a wonderful meaning to your life too. The Sitar is not even from "INDIA"???
@@BAFREMAUXSOORMALLY I am confused! Sitar, is from India.
@@adamakaru2683 "The word sitar is derived from the Persian word sehtar, meaning “three-stringed.” The instrument appears to have descended from long-necked lutes taken to India from Central Asia. The sitar flourished in the 16th and 17th centuries and arrived at its present form in the 18th century."
N.B. Most of what is being written about "INDIA", a British label, is just pack of lies! India does not exist, but HINDUSTAN that was conquered by the British and called India, and later given to "HINDUS" (a religious nation that refused to use their original name as they were never a SINGLE NATION!), and Sikhs who had joined the British Army! The leadership of those "Hindus" are LYING RACISTS who wiped out their Persian, Turkic, Mughal, Arab, Central Asian, and Muslim heritage!
Now, Aparheid Hindutva has plans to exterminate all Muslims or expel them! Muslim rule allowed them to survive and never touched their religion. Today, they are making over one billion people show their INGRATITUDE!

I hear a narrative of striving, yearning, and mourning past sadnesses, all subsumed in the elevated sentience of Saraswati. Not to be grandeloquent. I am humbled as any.
God is here . Every note is divine, a balm for the bruised soul, great healing indeed !
i discovered this genre of music through a book i read for one of my courses. i love the way life leads us into these special moments, even if they only last a little while
Each moment is different from any before it, each moment is different... it's now.
always a pleasure to come across such thing in life randomely, yes they only last for a while but what is life without small moments of joy and happiness
Perfect universe
can you tell us the name of that book? :)
So much wisdom from people listening to this raga that does something to people to feel reality and the possibility we can have it now and always proves the good in humans and anytime anyone listens to this someone is working in a data center somewhere keeping the servers going - Peace Love Abundance Blessings Breath

Namaste! ❤️
ur intelligent.
Lol, human value? It's nice to write dreams that are so detached from reality since the reality is really bleak. A coping mechanism, if you will.
All cultures have value. India has produced many amazing things I agree, but you're just idol worshiping.
I AM wonderstruck and grateful.😌🤗

Divine.
I havent been meditating for many years, i came across this and push play... i lay on my bed at the music gave me the caurage to face my fears. i meditated for 20 min but it helped already. i feel better now but realize i have been walking the wrong path for many years... and realized im far from home. i want to go back now. but its gonna take some time.
Brilliant. That's a powerful insight. Follow it!

Great story. Being lucky enough to hear him live, almost by accident. Good karma.
Check out Season 1 - Episode 2 of Harmony with A R Rahman. It features Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar's son Ustad Mohi Bahauddin Dagar. He talks about their lineage and history. Very interesting, you might enjoy it. It's available on Amazon Prime. www.amazon.com/Harmony-R-Rahman-Season-1/dp/B07GBGZW55

The life of traditional North Indian music before 1948 was quite different. It was supported and nurtured by wealthy families from aristocratic heritages with live in musicians and their families, where ancient musical traditions were past down generation to generation. This heritage is sacred and to be cherished. 🙏🙏🙏

Magnifique loum l'âme aum..
I feel the same. This is one of the top ones ever. This is just amazing science
Agreed. This is a very rare gem. This piece of music just takes you into another world. Among my playlist too this is among top 5. Words are less to describe this kind of music, it could be only felt in heart and soul. Eternal. Very fortunate to listen to this kind of music.

Could you pl translate in English?

Can you kindly let us know what the other four performances are! Many thanks and gratitude in advance!

To talk of alap only the best five that comes to my mind instantly are:
1.Nasir Moinuddin Dagar's Puriya (vocal)
2.Imrat Khan's Miya ki Malhar(surbahar)
3.Imrat Khan's Puriya Dhanasri(surbahar)
4.Ravi Shankar's Malkauns(sitar)
5.Ravi Shankar's Ahir Bhairab.
I had incredible and fully immersive visual hallucinations while listening to this with my eyes closed. It's the first time I've been able to experience this from music alone. Quite powerful. Thank you.
Unbelieveable how this music releases me from worry and anxiety Thank you, thank you, thank you. Bless, bless, bliss
