I have tried a lot of scenarios with my 7.2.4 system… setup for music and HT may be different… and be careful to not kill the sound stage by correcting the curves up to 20k! Not such a problem for HT, but really bad for music! Almost same for the bass….
Great to see Anthem cementing their place in HT. ARC is very good at what it does. The main obstacle is instructional use on the featured. Each interview opens the curtain just a bit more into what to and what not to adjust.
A suggestion on peaks over 5 kHz - aside from Anthem’s suggestion to not correct above the frequency, most content is not going to be above that range anyway. Drop the correction point down to just above the dip and let the rise exist. A/B and see if you hear a difference. I found greater detail when pulling correction away from the peaks and focusing on the dips/suck outs in the upper ranges.
My experience with REW is it may be used to confirm what ARC reports, but it can be a rabbit hole trying to get the curves to match. Different mics, placement, and software. Your ears a your best tool. Satisfy them and rely less upon curves. -Paul

Those curves in high frequencies may be corrected by modifying something on the wall… curves down from the front… high with the surrounds…
Hey Jaremy. Are there any specifics I should know about setting up a near field sub in ARC Genesis? I heard Nick mention it at around 59:30 but didn’t really go to far into the topic.
I have not done near-fields, sorry.
So after you get ARC ready to upload, do you click upload to device, then click the phase adjustment? Do you need to upload again to device after hitting the adjust phase button?
Yes. Get everything set and calculated, then upload, then run phase. I recommend just to be safe that if you make configuration changes to always re-upload and then re-run phase too. You do not need to upload anything after phase is ran though. ARC will automatically update the new phase values into the unit.

Try multiple computers, perhaps. If the mic is bad, might need to contact Anthem.
Good stuff. Curious why Nick was advocating to not use a Harman style curve with ARC? Also, regarding measurements with seat backs, I would think you would want to place the mic as you would be listening and not make the path to the mic clear if it won't be clear during normal listening scenarios?
I'll discuss this in a live coming up. I think it boils down more to the larger customer base that Nick serves and their user profiles. The mic recommendation was an interesting one though. I trust that a lot of Nick's best practices come direct from Anthem.
@@Techthusiasm Home theatre guru uses certain adjustments/parameters to get near a Harmon curve and adjust to taste and many people says it transforms their system .
so having followed your EP51 and using the speaker level increases, I watched your guest pod cast and he stated not to use speaker gain (speaker level) and let arc set this. Does this mean EP51 is not to be advised by yourself?
What video is that specifically? One thing to keep in mind with Nick is that his advice is solid, but more focused to a general populace of users, not necessarily more advanced enthusiasts. Many of those users could be better off without trying more detailed tinkering. So, his approach and mindset toward fine-tuning ARC is tempered with that.

Would be nice if Anthem created a better more efficient graph for quick measure
Especially with numbering for spl and frequency
Also when you expand the graph the curves seem to go off screen ?
You can't pull it back it just automatically goes off screen again
Very buggy graph gui compared to other similar software
Quick measure could be made insanely good with the right features and development effort. I really hope they do it.
