I just finished reading Keith Richards' biography in which he talks a lot about adopting open G tuning for most of his playing after a certain point. In his and Jimmy's riffs, it delivers such power. Very productive tuning.
Just about all of Stevie Ray Vaughan were covers. Still amazing what he done with those songs. Zeppelin still wrote amazing music that still sounds fresh 50 years later.
Seen DD live many times he plays the Biggest repertoire I have ever heard .Please guys don't forget to thumbs-up these excellent videos 👍🏽👍🏽share with your friends ! These videos take up a lot of time and energy to make! Thank you so much MAESTRO for sharing your expertise!
Love the playing, song choices and your demeanor of presentation! Spend a lot of time checking out the things I love since becoming disabled, divorced and the custody battle won! I'm actually kind of old at 62 too! So, I see a lot of people doing these type of videos,... sort of. They don't have the same approach for an intermediate like myself. Only thing I would ask for,... is complete walk throughs of certain songs but,... I know that's asking a lot. Only 1 other so cool I can think of out of 100s!
@@doubledsrockschool Absolutely!!! How bad is it when my kids says, "It's too Loud!" 🤣 My response, "If it's too Loud,... You're too Old!!" 🤣😂🤣 Oh,... Subscribed by the way!! 👍 ✌
Open G is the sound of true blues based classic rock. ZZ Top, Led, Stones. George Thorogood. I think it's also part of why Black Crowes sounded so close to the real thing when they hit the scene.
I remember buying LZ3 and thinking hey! there's a lot of acoustic guitar on this thing! After the first 2 albums it was quite the shocker, but then I remembered oh yeah White Summer!
Hi, a course would be great because there seems to be very little proper lessons on Open G tuning playing other than how to tune it. I look forward to your course.
@owlsrace I am working on that right now. My channel is very new and I have a lot of work to do. I have other Open G videos that you can watch in the meantime. ua-cam.com/video/TzvYczXUPiI/v-deo.htmlsi=RnsoD2uFx2DrVRT9 And ua-cam.com/video/3XrotpURLAw/v-deo.htmlsi=07XhpHQ_0yhv4EUC I hope this helps while I am making the full version of the Open G lessons. Thank you!!
Zep 4,ha ha the hermit album?? Never heard that one in all my years as a huge fan. I'm sure that you're aware that the record is " UNTITLED " . Intentionally by the band. Nothing on it indicates that it is Led Zeppelin.
Yeah, they got a lot of credit. A lot of credit that wasn't theirs. A lot of those songs were cover songs and until it was brought to the forefront. Nobody knew and they took the credit for it. Believe now, thanks to some attorneys that the credit has been given to the song writers that wrote the songs. I get it. They made the song better, but man, if you dont give credit, then you're ripping off somebody's song.
Agreed! They paid lots of money to Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters. It never went to court. I don't think they were being intentionally crooked. They truly loved that music and were paying hommage to thier heroes. The music business was very different in the early 70's.
@doubledsrockschool they couldn't imagine internet, they were shady, and got caught, Jimmy running around with a 14 year old from the concert for days. Na man, I was there when the music came out. I was born in 62, family of musicians, you might be thinking of the 50's The Recking Crew, Motown, The 100% fake Beatles. Na, by the 70s, everyone knew what's up. They got caught. We are talking about dazed and confused Jake Holmes, Bert Jansch Black Watersid, Joan Baez Babe I'm gonna Leave you, so many more you don't know about, American bands always gave creativity to the owners. I love Led Zep, just not as much. I'm listening to Chicago's first, right now. Thanks for typing. I know I'm annoying 😑
Your being silly, it was a couple songs, musicians have always borrowed ideas. No one cares until there's big money involved. Money that the originals could never generate. Mist songs didn't even sound like the UNHEARD of originals...if the MLZ didn't get do gigantic...no one would even mention it
@kensalazar5066 No, it wasn't a couple of songs. There is a couple you know of. Don't fall for the mainstream. There's more than 10, and that's not a couple. All huge hits, of course they did them better. They are not borrowing ideas. you're telling me what musicians do? What do you play, can you read music, do you know Phrygian mode, from refrigerator mold? Do some research before you call someone silly. All I'm saying is give credit. Say it up front, don't act like it's original, then later say, "we just borrowed a style note for f in note, na bro I love led zepp as much as anyone but when I found out I was like come on guys dam.
You literally saved whats left of me. Im 63, my health took a wrong turn & Im going thru a divorce.
You brought whats important back into the light.
Wow! What an honor! Music is the doctor! Cheers, my friend!

Love these. Could you provide a little instruction on the fingering. It would help a lot. Many thanks.
I will add that to the next batch. Thank you for the feedback!
Nice playing! That's some real ear candy. Those open strings ringing out make it sound like a 12-string. 😊
Thanks man!!
Love it, no wonder I could never learn this in standard tuning.
Glad it helped!!
Thank you 👍🏻 Very groovy brother ✌🏻
Thank you man!! Keep on Rockin' Bro!
Great demonstration!!!!

I play an open tunings all the time. But, I have a difficult time recognizing them and other peoples music. Your lessons really helped. Thanks.

You really nailed IMTOD! I could hear Bonzo’s thundering drums come in!
Thank you so much! I never get tired of Led Zep!!
Dancing days is a killing riff song. Great in Open G…never thought that it actually is in open G.
Agreed! That riff is off the hook!
Thanks!

Thank you Shane!
You’re the best, DD
Thank you Rick!

I never knew in my time of dying was open g! I always played it in standard
Thanks for the feed back!
Thanks.
Jail house rock sounds great in open G too.
Maybe you could knock that out for people.
Cool beans dude
#1 zep open G tune is Bron-yr-Aur Stomp
! Yes. Especially the up tempo part.
Even better in open F.
Cool! Thanks for the tip!
super!!!
Thank you!
Magnificent
Thank you!
Going to California is in double drop D from every tutorial I've seen.
Played live G in order to be able to play a couple songs without switching guitars
That’s the way ought to be played in Gb if you wish to play along to the studio version
NICE
Led Zeppelin - World's Greatest Covers Band.
Hahaha....
let me guess you're a milenial
Sounds like power amp distortion, using a plexi style amp ?
Actually, you'd be surprised. It is a Universal Audio Dream '65 simulator pedal. It's sound insane.
Love your cannel, would be nice if we could some tabs
Absolutely! I am working with a tablature writing program now.
Black Country Woman is also a nice open G zeppelin song
Agreed!
Any tabs for these iconic Zeppelin songs --?-cannot see your fingers clearly---
Going to California is double drop d, not open g
Ya. Sick
Thank yoj Brent!
Try swapping out the low E with an A string tuned down to G. Double G is heavy.
I agree!! I love Double G!
@ can you do a video teaching what you do with Double G? Thanks. I’m a big fan.
With Slide
@SlideDogsMusic-rw3zk will do!! Cheers Brother
! Dancing Days can also be done in standard tuning.
Sick
Thanks man!!
Black Country Woman is also open G?
I think it is!! Good song as well!
Yep! It is open g
and does bron-y-aur Stomp is in open G?
what about rain song?
Epic tune!! Love it!
I would like to learn how to play what you’re playing teach me

Riverside, not road side.
Yup, caught after the fact. Thanks.
