The amount of people who don't know the correct starting procedure of Caterpillar equipment really amazes me if we started a machine like that in our day we would not have been able to sit down force week not only that we would have been sacked on the spot NEVER open the fuel until the engine has been turning over of full compression for some minutes to warm it it THEN open the throttle to admit fuel to the cylinders
That poor pony. It's rpm is to high and no idle. Definitely has potential great save and good luck. Adjust the pinion latch or you'll be pulling the diesel engine out to fix the lever. Love my D47U and work it hard pulling disc and cleaning up a few ponds on the farm. Most of us have a few spare parts so let us know how to help.
Very cool. For a few years I had a D-6, such workhorses! We used it's winch once to pull a feller buncher onto a trailer when it had only one operating track.
I would have liked to see some blocks under the back of the trailer, to support the weight as the Cat came onto the trailer. But you guys got it done. Could be a very interesting project. Looks like you could dig a pond in nothing flat with that machine.
In my late teens I worked at company that did Orange and grapefruit juice and concentrate they had an old D4 Cat that pony engine sometimes I think that thing had mind of its own the operator old Bill Dixon was the only one who was happy with it some days it start nicely some days non at all a nasty habit of throwing the track while in muddiest of situations like when pushing the waste peels you got to get down in that foul smelling stuff I was so happy when they scrap that monster
Very cool. Have one that looks almost identical. Still have the rope pull start Pony and the cable system with the LeTourneau over head system. Side mount fuel tank and Hyster on the back. I still get so much work out of this machine, it's ridiculous. Running the 4 for a half day beats you up like ripping rock or coal on an 11 for a week.😂
Looks like a 6U (narrow tracks) for agricultural purposes. I couldn't see but when shutting down the pony, shut off the fuel supply and let the engine run the remaining fuel out. Once you get the other issues addressed, have fun with it. The gear drive and all the levers will keep you busy....but in a fun way.

Just as well that winch cable didn't fail. De-capitations happen like that.

Did you over rev the diesel engine in the truck, immediately before shutting it down?
Where do they have a school en guayaquil to leard to drive a catapillar 1885 4de
I was always an Allis Chalmers fan.

it will not do as much work as a later model, but it will work as hard now as it ever did
That was awesome 👌
Any guess on weight?
The dozer is approximately 12,000 lbs.
@@WideVisionMetalFab Looks that weight was no match for your truck!
mine with blade weigh 18500 ive had them on the scales,,,,blade and winch add up to this number,,,
Never shut pony motor off, turn fuel off & let it run out of fuel to shut pony off
I thought this was a squatch253 video. 😅
Rod knocking
guy doesnt kow what he is doing,,,hold pinion engaged until the diesel starts,,,,,i have two i want to sell, live in north alabama
You guys are a little sketchy.
A little? Full on sketch! :)
@@WideVisionMetalFab as long as you know it and take the appropriate measures.p
That was a lesson in all of what not to do.
So
