Today the only flying starfighter in Europe arrived at Leeuwarden Air Base due to the celibration of 322sqn this week.

Beautiful to see the aircraft flying. We just ran a J79-11 out of a starfighter in our test cell, and it makes that same sound.

When I was in High school, which was situated just a couples of miles off where the CF-104 was built in Canadair. i used to hear the J-79 engines being tested, great howl that turned into a banshee wail at full throttle. when I looked outside the window of the classroom, when I was lucky, I could see a couple of CF-104 being test flown in formation in tight turns at sometime full power with after burner. don't remember what the teacher was trying to tell us but sure do remember those jets and when I hear the howl of that J-79 engine it gives goosebumps. Great vid, keep them coming!

The Looks and Sounds of the F-104 is truly incredible. Probably my Favorite Jet Fighter Aircraft of all time. Those Engineers that designed this Masterpiece are truly amazing.
Totaly agree with you, also one of my favorites too next to the F-4 Phantom. Probably the 104 is the only fighter who sounded louder during landing then takeoff 😉👍
Never in history has the name of a fighter so well matched its appearance. The F-104 truly looks like something out of a sci-fi film.

At the airbase where I am member of a gliding club, there is a German F-104 In storage. They are planning to have if back in the air but it’s in the same hangar as our gliding club, so I get to enjoy their technical progress every week. Beautiful

It's Amazing! The Norwegian Guys have a F- 104 Starfighter again in the Flying Operation, That's a Twinseater but he have flewn at an Airshow in Denmark. The Howling Sound during the Landing is very Super. Greetings from Germany!

Hoi, helaas zijn er geen luchtmachtdagen dit jaar.
Wist het niet, had er wel vrij voor willen nemen om nog een keer dat geluid live te mogen meemaken..
Ja was een gave ervaring.
is ie ook al weer weg? zo niet hoe lang blijft ie nog?
Nee hij staat nog op Leeuwarden maar zal deze week niet meer vliegen, de piloot is ook al inmiddels terug in Noorwegen vanwege andere verplichtingen. Een vaste datum voor vertrek is nog niet bekend maar zal ergens later in Juni plaats vinden.

Did the F-4 Phantom have the same howling effect since they share the same engine???
I know only the RF-4C model had some "howling" sound like an 104, the other F-4 models didn't while having J-79 engine. Thanks for watching:)

Yes it's definitely a remarkable sound. Really loved it to hear it again after some decades. Normally I wear ear protection but not when an 104 comes by :)

Why is that annoying bell going off in the background?
The ringing Bell you hear is a traffic warning bell along the road on the airbase wich crosses the runway. So it's a traffic safety warning when there is flying traffic on the runway the traffic may not cross the runway.

Ok thanks i was this summer on a airshow about 15min drive from my home i notice the f104 sounded like an old hower i like it but unfortunately the show was cansled when a spittfire and a catalina got to Close to an landing Airliner crj from SAS i was filming it and have also maney Pictures of the so called almoasr crash situation
Yes I've read about that almost midair collision situation in one of our newspapers here in the Netherlands. Glad it turned out to not a accident, it's a pity that you've missed that nostalgice Starfighter due this situation. Thanks btw for watching my video.
