Hi DC, Yes, you can use the Export command to export the 3d model to a CAD format such as DWG for documentation, or STL for 3d Printing. You can use the Export Image command to create image files, and if you are in Wireframe or Hidden Line, you can use Export Image: DWG to create a 2d vector line drawing. You can also use the Print command to print to a PDF file (built into OS X -- or just install PDF995 or other on Windows). Does this help? Please see bonzai3d.com for more info!
Well seems kind of an archaic way to model a roof. Also I still see roof tiles through the windows. I doubt you can directly print this model without cleaning up loops and internal faces. Sketchup lets you generate drawings through Layout which is part of the sjetchup pro set of tools. I wonder if there are any tools to control the topology of the model?
Hi Olav, Yes, this model can be easily printed, as the geometry is created without defects such as edge loops or intersecting faces (for which SketchUp is somewhat notorious). bonzai3d does not have a layout mode, but formZ 7 (which includes all of bonzai3d) has this integrated. We are not sure exactly what you mean by "control the topology of the model" but you can move parts of objects, there are tools such as the Object Doctor that will fix objects, and solids can be converted to surfaces -- and vice versa -- in many different ways. Thank you for the reply, I have downloaded a demo of Form Z in 2012 and never had the time to test run because I was in a tight deadline. Is there a newer demo version available? Thanks.
