Absolutely! I'm confident this is the game of the next decade. I have only played PoE1 for 700 hours for 3 leagues. Between new leagues/big content patches there is always time for other worthwhile games like the upcoming KCD 2, GTA 6, etc.
As a 2k+ hour player i love seeing these reactions to a game i love. Already being a hardcore fan, while it's amazing, a lot of the things you get excited for are 'oh yeah of course that's a thing.' for us. So it's great seeing hype for the things we take for granted, like being able to use any skill on any class. I hope you have a great time in poe2! Didn't be afraid to explore and ask questions! It was fun Few things -Bots will be around they generally flood the market, but with the way gold works they can't use the automated trades on the market board they have to do manual trading through the website which is something they didn't cover in the video. Pretty much you have to go on the website and find the exact items you want and then whisper that person to make the trade, teleport to their hideout and make the trade manually. Bots are often a blessing because they instantly respond and instantly trade saving downtime. It sucks but it's probably the one game bots are not completely hated on. For example, you have people who specialize in breach and they do nothing but farm breach over and over and they sell the things they get from breach to buy things that people get from say delirium or ritual. So how you approach the game is entirely up to you and it's often best to take baby steps! -As for how the company makes money. The game is 100% free to play. Early access is of course paid entry, but if you supported the game in the past you got a key for free. Everything that comes out to the game, including the leagues, expansions, everything, is entirely free. The only thing that they make money on is MTX for skill effects, cosmetic armor sets, supporter packs, pets, etc. These things provide zero player power. Purchasing supporter packs not only gets you the pack but it gets you their value in points as well. So if you say buy the 120 dollar supporter pack, you get the contents of the 60 dollar supporter pack, because they contribute to higher tiers AND you get 120 dollars worth of tokens to buy other things. Most of the MTX also transfers between PoE1 and PoE2 with there being exceptions. -The biggest debate is that you'll want to buy special stash tabs that let you automatically organize currencies and multiply your storage size so a lot of people say that's "pay to win", but there have been a history of some of the top players using only default tabs and being the first to 100 on hardcore solo-self found, aka they can't group up or trade at all. And lets be real, 30 dollars for a few storage slots or like 100 bucks for a game like Diablo 4, what's worse.

It's not that they're showing 80% of the game, they're showing 50% of the game and they're already 80% done with the other 50%. So this is gonna double. Twice as many classes (more than twice as many ascendancies for a total of 36,) twice as many skills to go with those classes which you can mix and match, twice as many item types (they don't even have swords, axes, flails, daggers, traps etc in the game yet,) twice as many bosses, twice as many monster types, twice as many "league mechanics" (which they showed off as endgame systems here.) @@SamVeneman The real insane thing is they intend to start running content leagues once it hits 1.0, and those alone add entire endgame mechanics and such.
Yeah, they have (prior to this big announcement video) shown teasers of stuff that they won't add until later in Early Access because it's not quite done yet. That's probably what you've seen. Swords and other weapons, but other things like druid and huntress gameplay too. They're the next two classes they've said they'll be adding.

The game's standard cadence will be 4 leagues (seasons) per year. Each league will add another system like Breach, Expedition, Ritual, and Delirium (all of which are previous PoE 1 leagues that are popular with the playerbase). IMO PoE has been the best ARPG ever made for a long time now, but it's extremely hampered by the generally poor combat (which has led to them speeding the game up to a ridiculous degree in order to keep the gameplay more engaging), and the horrible new player experience. Everything *other* than those two problems is absolutely incredible. PoE 2 aims to fix those two big problems by simplifying systems without sacrificing depth (their designers are really fucking smart, all the changes they've made have been excellent in regards to not dumbing the game down), building in significantly more access to information (ingame videos of how skills work, explanations of keywords on hover, etc), and making the feel of combat a top priority. I think PoE 2 is going to be seen as the first ARPG to truly take D2's place as the generally accepted best action RPG ever made (even if I personally believe PoE 1 already did this). I think it's gonna be seen as a masterpiece on the scale of Baldur's Gate 3 and Elden Ring. Time will tell, but so far everything just looks so fucking good. And trust me, if you invest the time to learn the systems, you will get the deepest, most customizable, largest ARPG you've ever played in your life. Both in terms of builds you can make, and in terms of content to challenge those builds against.
@@Tehblood Yeah, no shot there will be 4 leagues per year anymore, especially if they keep releasing new leagues for PoE1. I'm hoping for maybe a 2 per year standard on each game (ie.: January and July for PoE1, April and October for PoE2 (alternating every 3-4 months for PoE1 and 2)
Exactly the type of content i was looking for. Great video man, loved hearing you getting more and more excited as the video continues :> so hyped for friday. See you out there exile!
Something that really shows what kind of company GGG is, which is explained in the Supporter Pack section you didn't watch: If you already spent $480 on POE1 supporter packs, you can play POE2 early access for free. And also, all microtransactions you bought/buy for POE1 will be usable for POE2 and vice-versa (unless it just doesn't make sense, like visual changes to removed content) GGG also have a reputation for underpromising and overdelivering, so... it's going to be insane. We'll see how the servers handle the launch, though :D
I’m so glad to hear that! It’s awesome that they are rewarding their most dedicated fans. It really feels like GGG is on the short list of companies that ACTUALLY care about their players and don't just see them as a Wallet to extract from.

The skill/gem system has been a thing since POE 1 so it's something they've been doing for over 10 years. Pretty much all the systems in POE 2 are just refined versions of things in POE 1. POE is kinda like DnD in that you can kinda pretty much homebrew your own class more or less.
@@phoenixx913 for sure. I didn’t give Poe an opportunity so this is purely from that perspective where I don’t know much about the game. I’m excited for the class creativity.
Mostly in the same boat as you, I’ve played a bit of PoE here and there, mostly when it first came out though, never deep dived it. PoE2 feels like the perfect time to jump in and learn everything in a fresh way, can’t wait! Probably going titan warrior for my first character.
@@SamVeneman Nice a fellow warrior!!! Just adding a few comments after finishing the video. I reacted the same way as you, just absolutely blown away by the game and its only early access!?! This week is going so slow, cause I just cannot wait to get my hands on this game. On launch, 12 classes and a total of 36 ascendancies, let alone all the end game systems... its just wild. I can't wait to dive into this!
So near the end of the video when commenting on the seasons (1:29:53), as a point to when they might make their money. I just want to make clear in case this isn't something you're aware of: Path of Exile's Seasons (historically from the first game, which they said they're gonna try and emulate in this), which are fresh servers with a whole new system for the endgame implemented are free content. Their entire monetisation model is quite literally all supporter packs and Microtransactions that, aside from the stash tabs, are all cosmetic. There's no obligation to ever pay money for this game outside of early access. I really hope this stays consistent with PoE2 and I have no reason to believe it won't. See you in game :)
@@SamVeneman And good to note that even with just getting the Early access (30 USD), you'are also getting $30 worth of store credits (which is more than enough to get all the most important stash tabs that are considered "necessary" for endgame) An important point though, I would suggest waiting for a store sale before getting stash tabs (there's one usually every 2-3 weeks). That would most likely allow you to get one or two extra tabs if you don't want to get more money in :) Getting to "endgame" without any extra paid stash tabs is completely feasible, and by the time most new players will reach endgame, I'm sure there will be a stash tab sale
lmao the way you reacted to this made me remember mcconnel so much xD you probably wouldn't get the reference, but trust me its a compliment. EDIT: Ahh you just mentionned you play WOW, perhaps you do get the reference then lol.
i created a PoE account years ago when it launched, but only ever tried it maybe 2 or 3 times over the years, and only ever for MAYBE an hour each time, but always felt so daunted by the content and especially that big ass skill tree. but recently, i happened to see a few things online about people hyping up the sequel, so i jumped back in and have been playing it a bit and enjoying myself. but then i watched this livestream, and my mind was fucking blown wide open. i am now a hardcore PoE fan, with probably less than 2 or 3 hours in the first game and (obviously) zero time in the sequel. but what i've seen has me more hyped for a game release than i've been in years. already bought my $30 early access key. i'll be in there, day one, on Friday.
@@SamVeneman me neither! the sheer amount of depth in the first game is what's always made me *want* to play it, but has also always kind of stopped me from playing it. but now that a sequel is coming and they've seemingly streamlined the new player onboarding process a bit more, and yet they've added *even more* depth, i feel a lot more comfortable going into it since we'll all be experiencing it together, rather than me finally coming in years after release and feeling like i missed the bus. i'm not missing this one. :P
@@SamVeneman also, since i'm still just under halfway through your reaction, i just have to add - @ 42:53 : "man i hope the end game loop is good" - i'm currently laughing my ass off knowing what's coming.
I'm also sure you've probably heard the big streamers for Diablo 4 that complained that there's not really anything special to get in endgame no cool titles no glowing MTX no special mounts etc etc. That's another really awesome thing about path of Exile every league they have challenges that can range from pretty simple to difficult to really hard and the more challenges you complete you will unlock free cosmetics having to do with the league. Sometimes pets sometimes weapon skins or weapon aura cosmetics usually an armor set cosmetic With all the different pieces at different levels of challenge and a lot of times the cosmetic effect of the armor ramps up the higher your challenges are completed so it might glow much brighter or do something super cool looking the more challenges you complete. And for the guys that really like to show off league challenges also usually include trophies that you can place in your hideout each League like this totem thing that gets taller and taller and more extravagant the more and more challenges you finish. All these challenges each league are free they do usually have a kind of battle pass thing called a kiraq pass in Path of Exile 1 but that was usually just for a specific set of cosmetic armor so it wasn't mandatory and there was even a free track to get some goodies. Point is these guys take care of us. Better than any other developer on the planet. And don't let anyone say that's a lie their owned by Tencent they're just a huge sell out blah blah. Don't listen to them they're just probably D4 Andy's The deal with Tencent just allowed that Chinese company that owns damn near everything have the rights to make and manage a Chinese version of the game that one has paid a win and stuff you would expect in a Chinese live service game but they don't have any rights at all do mess with our Western version. So you never have to worry about that.
Yeah, the cosmetics are a huge plus, it’s a smart way for them to monetize. The tencent situation is pretty common for Chinese gaming, so I'm not surprised it's p2w in China.
It's nice to see someone who realizes how brilliant grinding gear games is it's just a bit of a shame that you didn't realize that 10 years ago. I personally have over 40,000 hours in the first Path of Exile. That game has been out for a very long time and is still absolutely brilliant has far more content than even POE2 looks to have and it's nice too because if you feel like a league that comes out for Path of Exile 2 is not one that you care for you can just wait a couple weeks or a month or two to see what the Path of Exile one league is. The play style of both games is going to be quite different from the looks of things if you want a more faster-paced nuke everything on the screen eventually type thing but with far greater selection in endgame on what to farm or whatever The first Path of Exile Is the best for that. If you more love the newer advanced playstyle of Path of Exile 2 and why wouldn't you, you can stick to that and just play like the standard league that will be a forever portion of the game so for example if a league comes out you create a character for it you get as far as you want in that league when the league ends your character and all the items you have in your stash tabs transfer to standard. Like your tabs will show up in the standard area as remove only if your tabs on standard are already like full. So you can continue building your character from a league in standard if you want to it's really nice if you just don't really get time to do everything you wanted to do during the league and you just want to continue playing in the regular game from the level you made it to. The game well both games just give you so much freedom to play the way you want to it's a breath of fresh air to anyone that just gets it. And you never have to worry about running out of space with grinding gear games because unlike blizzard that makes excuses why they can't add more stash because they're developers are idiots. In Path of Exile one and two you can buy as many stash tabs as you want and they are very affordable they have sales all the time too. Welcome to the community and we will see you there! ^_^
hi from France ! i hope you will enjoy this new version of POE, its a really great game and its a fresh start even for old players. Dig it ! there is a lot but just do what you enjoy its the best way to have fun at poe ! you will understand the different mechanics. But its not a casual game, some hours need to be spend in it, for sure ! Have fun anyway, this look really promissing !.
Only half way through, loving your reaction! Do yourself a favour and invest the time to truly get into poe, it is a game and company that keeps on giving. Each league launch, which is 3 to 4 times a year(!), adds so much interesting content and changes. It always feels like Christmas to PoE players. And this will probably only get better after the full release. Liked and subscribed, hope you will enjoy early access as part of the community😊
So weird hearing people say "breaking the mould" in regards to any class/ascendency picking any skill. And it has been the exact same system since a closed beta of Poe1 in 2012, not much has changed besides where you socket those gems. Your class only dictates the choice of ascendency passives and the position on the tree. Skill gems were never tied to that. You can be a summoner with any class(quite effectively at that). And you can be melee/shield with any class. Half of the witches are sword and board with cyclone(whirlwind) trigger setups. Tbh it will be quite a shock for new poe players, but you mainly decide what skill to play and select an ascendency that better suits it. Quite the opposite way then other ARPGs. But like 80-90% of the things you were excited about are already in poe1.
@@Baofuru that’s cool man. But again like I said in the video: I haven’t played Poe. So this was my reaction to knowing nothing about Poe and seeing that sort of flexibility of character building.
@@SamVenemanhonestly I’m a little jealous of you. I played Poe 1 since it was in early access so I’ve been watching GGG build up all the systems that are in 2. They look massively improved and you get to enjoy how amazing this game will be with fresh eyes.
gold is their main answer to bots. you need gold to trade items on the currency exchange, and the only way to get gold is to play the game organically. it has worked well so far since they introduced it in PoE 1.
POE's economy has always been rock solid, they take it extremely seriously. in fact I don't think there's been a single dupe exploit in 13 years. The need to earn gold now in order to trade (its used as a trade fee per transaction) means bots should be few and far between. and bot makers can't get bots through the campaign because of the random level generation.
@@SamVeneman I definitely recommend you to watch the secure online economy part of Chris Wilson's GDC talk from a couple of years back, you definitely feel reassured about the topic when you listen to him. The whole talk is amazing but if you just want to check out the secure economy parts it's ~5 minutes in. You should be able to find the video by just typing Chris Wilson gdc 2019
im so excited by this game that im at a point were im going to bed early to get faster to the early access, cannot fucking wait ^^p, by the way they are lying when they say hundreds of hours, it's more like thousands and thousands of hours just for the Early access 😛 Fun fact: Mark Roberts the game director, was at first just a player, he made good point about game mechanics on forums... then started to work for GGG and grinded to the top executive level, he is in charge of boss design and many choices in the game, this is why the game will be so insane
Most things that you seen to be amazed are already in the original game (the skill gem system, ascendancys, etc). There are lots of new stuff, but the base of all this stuff has 10 years of testing and iterations in the original game..
@@SamVeneman Most, if not all, long term PoE players are very very very excited for PoE2. My only reservation for new players is that PoE2 will probably be harder than PoE1 because you have to kill all bosses in one go (in the PoE1 campaign you can die infinite times and chip the boss' life till it dies). You can overlevel/make a better build/gitgud but traditionally GGG makes things hard to sometimes (rarely) nerf later. In other words, I expect "old school" difficulty not current AAA games difficulty.

Mostly in the same boat as you, I’ve played a bit of PoE here and there, mostly when it first came out though, never deep dived it. PoE2 feels like the perfect time to jump in and learn everything in a fresh way, can’t wait!
Probably going titan warrior for my first character.
very nice! I'm going warrior as well!
I just want to make clear in case this isn't something you're aware of:
Path of Exile's Seasons (historically from the first game, which they said they're gonna try and emulate in this), which are fresh servers with a whole new system for the endgame implemented are free content.
It’s a neat way to monetize that puts zero pressure on the player to pay. Good luck to you!
@@SamVeneman And good to note that even with just getting the Early access (30 USD), you'are also getting $30 worth of store credits (which is more than enough to get all the most important stash tabs that are considered "necessary" for endgame)
An important point though, I would suggest waiting for a store sale before getting stash tabs (there's one usually every 2-3 weeks). That would most likely allow you to get one or two extra tabs if you don't want to get more money in :)
Getting to "endgame" without any extra paid stash tabs is completely feasible, and by the time most new players will reach endgame, I'm sure there will be a stash tab sale
I uninstalled D4 for this game hahah I cannot wait to play this game!!!! :)
Right there with ya!!!!
@@SamVeneman The amount of cross-action spells and skills and also the fact that you can have a party of 6 too....its gg for other ARPGs
lmao the way you reacted to this made me remember mcconnel so much xD you probably wouldn't get the reference, but trust me its a compliment.
EDIT: Ahh you just mentionned you play WOW, perhaps you do get the reference then lol.
I am a fan of that Paladin 😁
i created a PoE account years ago when it launched, but only ever tried it maybe 2 or 3 times over the years, and only ever for MAYBE an hour each time, but always felt so daunted by the content and especially that big ass skill tree. but recently, i happened to see a few things online about people hyping up the sequel, so i jumped back in and have been playing it a bit and enjoying myself. but then i watched this livestream, and my mind was fucking blown wide open. i am now a hardcore PoE fan, with probably less than 2 or 3 hours in the first game and (obviously) zero time in the sequel. but what i've seen has me more hyped for a game release than i've been in years. already bought my $30 early access key. i'll be in there, day one, on Friday.
@@alefnull same bro! Can’t wait!!
@ 😂 LOL
I'm also sure you've probably heard the big streamers for Diablo 4 that complained that there's not really anything special to get in endgame no cool titles no glowing MTX no special mounts etc etc. That's another really awesome thing about path of Exile every league they have challenges that can range from pretty simple to difficult to really hard and the more challenges you complete you will unlock free cosmetics having to do with the league. Sometimes pets sometimes weapon skins or weapon aura cosmetics usually an armor set cosmetic
With all the different pieces at different levels of challenge and a lot of times the cosmetic effect of the armor ramps up the higher your challenges are completed so it might glow much brighter or do something super cool looking the more challenges you complete.
Don't listen to them they're just probably D4 Andy's
The deal with Tencent just allowed that Chinese company that owns damn near everything have the rights to make and manage a Chinese version of the game that one has paid a win and stuff you would expect in a Chinese live service game but they don't have any rights at all do mess with our Western version.
The play style of both games is going to be quite different from the looks of things if you want a more faster-paced nuke everything on the screen eventually type thing but with far greater selection in endgame on what to farm or whatever The first Path of Exile
Is the best for that. ^_^
Thank you!!
hi from France ! i hope you will enjoy this new version of POE, its a really great game and its a fresh start even for old players. Dig it ! there is a lot but just do what you enjoy its the best way to have fun at poe ! you will understand the different mechanics. But its not a casual game, some hours need to be spend in it, for sure ! Have fun anyway, this look really promissing !.
Bonjour! Thank you for watching and for the advice!
42:50 "Man i hope the end game loop is good" lil bro you dont know the half of it XD hahaha im so excited for that part of the video now hahaha
@@landoncamara93 😂😬
This game will be a masterpiece, already GOTY 2025 if it releases that year
I don’t doubt that.
The market system has existed in POE 1 for a decade AFAIK
Only half way through, loving your reaction!
Do yourself a favour and invest the time to truly get into poe, it is a game and company that keeps on giving.
Each league launch, which is 3 to 4 times a year(!), adds so much interesting content and changes. It always feels like Christmas to PoE players. And this will probably only get better after the full release.
Liked and subscribed, hope you will enjoy early access as part of the community😊
@@Savage-de1ok thanks for your kind words!
@@dasumi good to hear!!!
Such a good feeling knowing they actually care about the Economy and bot busting.
Hey Sam, next time for you would be to add a webcam to your reaction, people like it better that way. 😉
I will think about it. I’m not the prettiest fella though … 😂
Yes that's the skill tree, and yes that's a normal reaction, it's fine.
🤣😆
im so excited by this game that im at a point were im going to bed early to get faster to the early access, cannot fucking wait ^^p, by the way they are lying when they say hundreds of hours, it's more like thousands and thousands of hours just for the Early access 😛 Fun fact: Mark Roberts the game director, was at first just a player, he made good point about game mechanics on forums... then started to work for GGG and grinded to the top executive level, he is in charge of boss design and many choices in the game, this is why the game will be so insane
😆
damn @SamVeneman you should have say something i will have been willing to play with you XD
still in time XD
@@inmaculated 🤣
Funny thing is PoE 2 is basically a remaster with some quality of life changes.
PoE 1 is jsut as deep
@@danielpirez381 well we will have to see!
Most things that you seen to be amazed are already in the original game (the skill gem system, ascendancys, etc). There are lots of new stuff, but the base of all this stuff has 10 years of testing and iterations in the original game..
Great! Hopefully that means they’ll be very refined in Poe2. The theme of the video is from a beginners perspective…
You can overlevel/make a better build/gitgud
but traditionally GGG makes things hard to sometimes (rarely) nerf later.
In other words, I expect "old school" difficulty not current AAA games difficulty.
