- Got this recently, previously owned and in a poor state of setup when I got it. I decided to go ahead and put a new brass block, push-in arm, noiseless springs, new knobs and titanium inserts in there during the first setup without ever having really played it first. Worked out. I'm digging it and it's still got some room for improvement on the setup. Very cool guitar. It's currently my only #Charvel with #EMGpickups so it's nice to have something a little different from the usual Duncans most of them come with.

Gorgeous sound, and your playing is absolutely beautiful. Your video clinched it for me, and I bought this incredible instrument. Lovin' it! Thank you.
It's a great guitar I hope you enjoy it!
This guitar caught my eye ever since it came out. It's the only Charvel with EMG pickups, which makes it very special. After watching your videos I have decided to finally get one. Keep it up!
It's a great guitar I'm sure you'll love it!
Came here to check out this particular Charvel model, but your playing completely took center stage. Very nice playing, and in particular, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard anyone with greater mastery of the wah pedal. This was fantastic!
Much appreciated and welcome!
Been in love with this guitar ever since I first saw it. Marco is an amazing player.
Killing it on this one, my friend!
That was sick!
Sick as usual, love that backing track too.
Excellent, excellent, excellent.. 🙋🏻♂️
Your playing 🎸🔥 is incredible 🎸🤣🔥 i think i hsve to buy that now 😅
Very tasty playing ! Was looking at that one too, very nice.
Appreciate that thank you. Hope you sub and stick around! If you have any questions about the guitar feel free to ask.
@@dmnguitarist Thank - you. Seems to be a versital guitar.
elevated jam track backing track!!
Bro, that backing track is super fun to play to. Got it saved to favorites. Even a novice lead player like my self can jam to it.
This dude has been doing a good amount of dorian/blues scale tracks and a few nice mixolydian ones as well. Really good stuff on his channel. That one and YT Jam Tracks you should definitely be subbed too.
Record something and post it up dude. Track your progress. That's the main reason I keep uploading these. It's helped me find and work on weaknesses. Helps keep me from believing my own BS too. Still a ton of mistakes in these things and a huge amount of room for improvement. The never ending chase.
@@dmnguitarist I would but I don't have that mixer set up you do so it sounds like garbage recording the audio from the camera. If I could download it and put it in a DAW I would.
@@angryjoegaming Search for a little app called ClipGrab for your Mac. You're welcome. lol
@@dmnguitarist Doest it separate the audio and video? Downloading the video is fine but still would need to use camera mic while video is playing and me playing over it. Will still sound like a camera mic. I have a good camera mic (Rode shotgun) that is awesome for spoken word, but there is still a significant difference for music, and you can totally hear the difference of recording the guitar with a camera mc vs. in a DAW and then synching audio and video. Yours sound professional, not like a camera mic and that's what I am talking about.
@@angryjoegaming Download the video and open it in Logic. I forget what it's called but Logic has a mode for scoring film that will let you see and hear the video while you record your solo. Once you record your solo you'll be able to mix it like normal (just two tracks, the audio from the video and your guitar track). Just make sure the mic on your camera is on so you can use the camera audio to sync it up in FCPX afterwards.
You'll get better sound quality than I'm getting if you do it this way. Using the mixer to go straight into the camera is convenient but very limiting.
sounds awesome dude!
Thanks Mikee!
Great demo again !!! it seems really beautiful ! your so cal with the hard tail have a better sustain than this Sfogli signature ? cheers
The setup on this one wasn't perfect when I shot this video so the sustain might have been a little less than it's potential here. It's in the shop now getting setup a little better but also getting some changes made to the electronics. I'll have it back in a couple weeks.
Thanks for commenting!
Great axe but only issue I had with it when test driving was that my pick would keep hitting into one of the pickups (I think the middle one). It must be the way I pick, a bit harder than normal.
So I decided not to purchase. Other than that it's a great axe.... Cheers
Another Charvel, so cool! Love the quilt finish. Looks like a higher quality build compared to our DK24 HH Black Satin. The sound is excellent. Is the neck feel similar to the DK24?
SoCal/San Dimas necks are a little different from the DK24 but not to an extreme degree or anything. Obviously number of frets is different but the SoCal necks are slightly wider too. What's interesting about this one compared to the vast majority of guitars in the SoCal/San Dimas lineup is that this one has the sculpted shredder's heel like a DK24. Really cool guitar overall. 👍
@@dmnguitarist Ahh ok, so it sounds a bit more comfortable with faster playability of the sculpted shredder heel. I checked Sweetwater's listing for this Marco model and it says the neck is "Carmelized". I think Ibanez calls it "Roasted" so that is a neat addition as well.
@@dmnguitaristI didn't know about the heel on this one I think that just sold me on it 😂🤘🔥🤣
That is one gorgeous sound....what are you playing this through???
Thank you! And it's an Axe FX 3. Everything on my channel is the same first generation unit. Love that thing.
@dmnguitarist my man....I have the same.....Haven't played in 2 years now ...but great unit and tones.
Your playing is awesome brother!! CHEERS!!
Hello, tell me how does feel Floyd Rose 1000 series??? Any complaints? Perhaps it is worth changing to "OFR" or "Schaller LockMeister"??? What do you think about this? Kindly tell me what specific brands/models did you use in the upgrade: brass block, push-in arm, noiseless springs, new knobs and titanium inserts???
The Floyd Rose 1000 performs as good as the OFR in my opinion. Korean made but Korean steel is actually very very good these days. About the only difference is when they're brand new the OFR fine tuners seems to always turn a little easier and smoother but the 1000 breaks in and gets smoother with a little use. Non-issue.
The upgrades I do are the Floyd Rose push in bar or the Red Bishop Magic Arm is really nice too. Much more expensive though. I also use the Floyd Rose brand brass block upgrades and FR noiseless springs. The titanium inserts I've tried a bunch of knock off brands and can't tell any difference so I just get whatever I can find a good deal on with those. The knobs are Gotoh dome knobs.
This guitar is in the shop right now having an EMG Afterburner installed along with a couple small electronics change and getting a full run through by the luthier I use. He knows how I like these things and does a great job fixing them up for me. Atomic Guitar Works in Peoria, AZ is the shop I use. I'll be able to give a more detailed opinion on the guitar itself after I get it back and get some more playing time in with it. I liked it enough to spend some more money on it though. Feature wise it's got some cool things going for it. The shredder's heel isn't common in the So-Cal lineup nor is the roasted maple neck with a Floyd Rose. Charvel really should make a few more like that because people ask for those features in the San Dimas/SoCal line pretty often. Should be a killer guitar when I get it back. It will be about three weeks before I get it home again though.
Thanks for commenting! Hope you subscribe and hang around!
@@dmnguitarist Thanks Man! Kindly tell me what size tremolo block??? The one that was in stock and the one you changed???
@@MaksymBubyriev 32mm stock and that's what I replaced it with. If you go any bigger on these Pro-Mods you can end up having the block hit the cover when you pull up on the bar. The bigger sizes are more for non-recessed top mounted Floyds.
That roasted maple looks pretty classy against that purple. Love your playing, too, as always. Are you in a band?
Haven't been in a band in a very long time. Don't think I have the energy anymore. 😆
Killer video! I've watched it several times. What are you using for your tone?
I've been eyeing up this guitar as my possible next purchase. Coming from a strict Ibanez diet, I'm looking for something different, and a buddy of mine has a Root Beer Burst DK24 that plays really nice. I play in an 80s metal band (Dokken, Iron Maiden, Poison, older Metallica, etc), and i think this might be the perfect fit.
Thanks dude!
I use an Axe FX 3 in all these videos. I don't remember which amp model I was using here but I'm guessing it was a Marshall JCM 800 (they call it the Brit 800 in the Axefx). It's a cool guitar but Charvel has a lot of models in their lineup that would fit in with what you described. See if you can find a dealer with some inventory and try out a couple. For 80's stuff you might want to check out a Satchel as well. Plus all of the non-signature models are just as good for less money. One thing about this model that people either like it or hate it is the placement of the volume control. It's pretty close which is nice for volume swells etc but some people complain about accidentally turning their volume down. All of the other models have the volume a little further away.
@@dmnguitarist yeah, I noticed the volume knob placement. I do use my volume knob quite a bit for rolling back gain or swells. I'd consider the Satchel if not for the paint job, a little TOO 80s for my liking, haha
@@Tegamal That's the same reason I don't have a Satchel. lol
I have a question about the FR tremolo.
Do you have to rotate it a few times or is it one of those tremolos where you just place the handle in and it stays put?
You don't have to rotate any FR arms they don't work that way. The stock bar that they come with has a threaded collar. You only have to tighten that collar, not rotate the arm. I replace those threaded ones with the push in option that FR offers. You just push them in. There's a set screw on the collar for adjusting tension.
Thanks for posting!
@@dmnguitarist Thank you for your answer!
Killer stuff again !! Just found a mint Deep Purple Mettalic So Cal. For the price these Charvel's are great !! Still need your tone settings tho. Also still liking the Army Drab DK 24 with Floyd.
Right on dude. I dig those purple SoCals I know which one you're talking about. Can't go wrong, keep on getting them!
@@dmnguitarist I think I am done. Unless they come out with a killer reverse headstock like the Army Drab DK 24 FSR. I am looking for a Charvel caramelized neck with locking nut or reverse with ebony fretboard with locking nut.
