Welcome back to yet another Mortal Kombat video!
In todays history of breakdown and analysis I will be talking about a former champion of Mortal kombat, the prince of the Shokan Bloodline, Goro!
But In order to talk about Goro properly we must first go back to an age that predates the very first instalment, the origin of the shokan, their relationship with the centaurs and their time under Shao Kahn
I hope you do enjoy this video! It took awhile to put together but I wanted to take my time with the finished product and It came out alot better then I hoped!

I like how people often overlook that Liu Kang wins the tournament by defeating Goro, not Shang Tsung. Shang might be the "final boss" of the game, but Goro is the champion. Even NRS made that oversight in MK 9.
Goro was the champion, but Shang Tsung ruled the tournament and entered the tournament after Goro lost.
In MK9 Shang Tsung referred to Goro as “the reigning champion” right after Liu Kang defeated Scorpion and Quan Chi. They didn’t forget.

Fun Fact:
Goro's creature-ish body was inspired by Goddess Kali from The Golden Voyage of Sinbad.
His muscular physique is based on Bolo Yeung, a bodybuilding-actor who plays antagonists in Enter the Dragon and Bloodsport.
Above all, his overall features such as his face and hair were modeled after Tong Po from Kickboxer.

I wish that story arc of Goro becoming vessel for Onaga had come to fruition
I was almost insulted to learn how much Goro did between the two games and we just get quotes and a dead body in a stage. I want my main back and playable
I feel the series as a whole has rather been disrespectful to Goro. I feel he was part of the success of Mortal Kombat as his look invited players in the arcade. every Sub-boss in the game gets compared to him and in my opinion also feels the lesser of him.
@@street1008 Goro is THE subboss. The "wall" that filters out all but the greatest fighters...and leave those remaining battered and tired for Shang Tsung to mop up easily.

They actually mentioned it in a match intro with Sheva and I was annoyed that they DIDNT make him DLC

All these years and I never realized how cool Goros design was all this time. Two sets of arms like how dragons are pictured with a set of legs arms and wings....wings just being modified arms. So goros second set of arms come from his dragon dna. Very cool!
They should’ve given Goro 4 cybernetic limbs after he lost his arms.

I think from a lore perspective it’s probably hard to justify a very traditionalist society like the Shokan’s accepting a champion with prosthetic arms. And I know it’s just silly MK lore, but that would probably be the story reason for it not happening
I fuck with this idea. that would look hard on Goro.
Imagine a half man/half dragon MK champion warrior that breathes fire with four cybernetic arms capable of shooting rockets... absolutely unstoppable.

I would love to see this story to continue. I kinda want to see Goro as some form of an anti hero - like, if he's able to regain his old powers thanks to Onaga, but is causing some bad things to happen (like Onaga returning) that would shock even Goro, he's trying to redeem himself. Like Shujinko in Deception. That would be freaking badass. He didn't use to be always just a one sided evil character, in the midway games his personality was portrayed way better, and more interesting.

Man, I don't even play the Mortal Kombat games usually. But bringing back Goro as a vessel for Onaga, with all this lore behind him, would be an amazing antagonist for the next MK
Onaga taking over Goro’s body, would be a cool storyline for the next game, maybe even make Onaga the main antagonist of MK12, since he hasn’t been seen in almost two decades.
A bit of a misconception History bro it was Shang Tsung who hired Goro to deal with Great Kung Lao not Shao Kahn it was through this alliance with Goro and Shang Tsung that allowed Shang to redeem himself in the emperor's eyes

I want a Mortal Kombat game made back in time when Onaga was the ruler. I would also like to see the war between the two species. Playing with a four-legged character wouldn't be too bad either.

Most of the comic stuff is true as it is often referred to in MK11 when Sheeva fights people. They ask her "Are you susceptible to Onaga's power like Goro?" Sometimes asking how she became queen and she tells them she won the tournament of her people.
Why is Kintaro a tiger-man who simply disappeared? 🐯
He was killed in the comic by Sonya
He was killed by Sonya (who was controlled and enslaved by Reiko and Havik). according to the comics. However, given that many things of the comics are ingored, I'm not sure how canon it is. So I would use this sources with caution.
In the games, Kintaro fought for Shao Khan but lost. He was later replaced by Khan with Motaro as Khan favored Motaro's race over Goro's and Kintaro's (they lost twice) Kintaro is only member of his race to have tiger stripes and tiger features. He stopped appearing in games because Khan replaced him with another monster after losing in MK2. MK 3 introduced Sheeva who was selected by Khan to protect Sindel, taking Kintaro's spot as the next 4 armed monster.

@@1handedtyper Yes and Khan was furious. Kahn blamed Shang Tsung as he thought Goro was dead. Khan must win 10 straight to enter the realm of Earth. Goro was the champion and had won 9. This is why Khan used Kintaro. Kintaro was bigger and stronger than Goro. He had faith in Kintaro as he did with Goro. The second tournament was Shang Tsung banking on Khan and Kintaro killing Liu Kang and the rest of Raiden warriors. When that failed, Khan went with Motaro but by then Khan had already invaded Earth. Motaro was in charge of eliminating Earth's population which he almost did. Motaro was more savage and Khan always favored the Centaurs.
1. shao kahn did not recruit goro to compete in mortal kombat, shang tsung did.
2. the shokan and centaurs' war did not 'spill over into the third game', it started in the third game, as seen in sheeva's bio.
3. goro didn't fight the centaurs in mk4. he only appeared when he revealed he hadn't died, when kitana united the shokan and centaurs.
4. noob saibot is not a revenant. he is a wraith.

@@primalking924 No,Ed said that repeat DLC characters are less likely,but because Mileena and Rain did appear in mk11 the rules of repeat DLC doesn't matter anymore,so there's a 50/50 chance characters like Goro,Tanya,Kenshi,and Tremor could appear in the game roster.

@@denimescalera7213 Goro already is ½ dragon. That's why he has 4 arms. Instead of 2 arms and 2 wings, the wings turned out to be a second set of arms. He's also over 800 years old.
Hahaha if he had wings and a tail too, he'd be invincible. 🤔would only need a horn to impale his enemies to complete the setup. Maybe an inkpouch or chest laser too.

I had a video when a was a kid that shows goro fighting with his brother who was older and air to the throne and defeats goro at the end of the fight goro is hanging off a ledge and his brother helps him up but goro throws his brother too his death to become air to the throne. Was a old 3d cartoon with a few other mortal kombat storys on it. Anybody remember this?

God i would kill to see my my 4 legged boy in the movie. i love Motaro but sadly its a character that dosent get much love and out of all the sub bosses that one was THE MOST scary, intimidating, and rage inducing boss i've seen. not to mention hes cool af looking 👌

We seriously need a comic for MK12 it made 10 so cool and showed how the new timeline worked on popular fighters and since it is going to be rebooted again they need to give us one and if it popular enough then they should try to give us a series before or after the game is out since it worked very well with injustice can’t wait for more MK news

Since we have to have for a good comic or game to happen. You might as well create a Kung Lao raised to glory game to end with Goro with a black out ending. For the new gen.
Goro’s body was seen in the story mode of MK11 in goro’s lair when Jax and Jacqui Enter there to get Kronika’s crown, however this hasn’t confirmed whether he is dead in canon and the same can go for kenshi as his dead body was seen in the krypt but his death was not rule out as canon. This same happened for Tanya, because rain would mention that she was killed by Kotal which still hasn’t been ruled out as canon.

They hinted in a few matches that Goro became Onaga’s vessel, too bad we never got to see it. Dude was manipulating everyone behind their backs.

I don’t like the way kintaros look evolved, mk2 he looked badass but then they basically turned him into a damn tiger....he went from a shoken warrior with a little bit of tiger features which is perfect into a tiger with shoken features and it looks very bad. Not a good look.

@@thomas-stilinski8149 No he didn't. He looked like a mutation between a beast and a human. He was much more mass in body compared to Goro and that's what made him look intimidating. He looks like a tiger dehydrated and starved in MK9. His face also looks feline. Which is stupid.

@LUAN JAGUAR KING 1993 I agree but I believe he looked the best in mk2, he had very subtle stripes and fangs, and it was the perfect look, over the years he’s went from a Shoken warrior with some cool stripes and fangs into a furry goofy looking goro with hair and his face looks so corny.
😂 They really need to get Raoh or Kenshiro in this game. That would be great.
It's crazy that this series has such deep and interesting lore yet thus far the movies have been pretty bad. Given a decent budget an MK movie series could be epic as hell.

90% Goro is dead now after mortal kombat 11. Sheeva has a few voice lines confirming this but as for anything completely cannon there's no way of knowing. She also speaks about Goro attempting to become the vessel of Onaga and with that being related to his downfall.

It would've been awesome if in mk11 Goro came back to help kronica with cybernetic upgraded arms. Would've made a wayyyyy better lacky and opponent than frost. At least it would've been more interesting too considering Sheeva is queen. Id imagine the dialog with jax would be interesting 😂

I honestly found Goro to be much more difficult to beat than Kintaro or Motaro
I thought Motaro only had 2 legs in Armageddon because they couldn't properly animate 4 legs in the 3d enviornment
