    This will be a great program. I used your referral code to get a glowforge today actually and have been watching your videos until it arrives. I definitely could use the exhaust port extension if you have any left. I will probably be ordering those 6" reducers for the quiet fan in the near future. Seemed to make a huge difference. Thanks!

    Thanks so much for your videos, very helpful. I’d love an exhaust adapter. Still awaiting my GF, what’s some of the very first things I should do? Also what are your top programs you use or what are your suggested first 5 purchases. Thanks man!

    • @MartinsonManufacturing
      @MartinsonManufacturing  3 роки тому +1

      Congrats on your purchase man! I gave away all the extensions I had, but i'll do more giveaways in the future.
      First things I would do is figure out your venting situation. If you're venting out the window, buy or make an insert and have that all ready to go.
      I would also start getting proficient in a drawing program (if you're not already). It's a bummer when you got this amazing machine and all these ideas, but it takes you 3 days and 20 UA-cam tutorials to figure out how to draw it.
      I personally love BricsCAD for a drawing program, but I also come from a CAD background. A lot of people like Inkscape (free) and illustrator to make their designs.
      For other purchases/accessories I would get a micrometer. Also don't go cheap on your window insert, it'll be in use everyday for months so make/buy a good one that you like. I'd also highly recommend 4" hose from AC Infinity. The standard dryer duct hose that comes with the Glowforge is a good starter, but down the road it cracks and you'll start smelling fumes leaking from it. A lot of people are buying the 6" AC Infinity inline fan to make their Glowforge quieter because IT IS LOUD. If you buy that inline fan i'd recommend grabbing my reducers that go with it. Their pricey, but every other solution will leak and drive you crazy.

    Thanks for this. I'm struggling a bit with the scale on deepnest, is there a way to keep your svg imports at 100%. Deepnest seems to shrink them hugely, so they then need to be scaled back.

    Each file needs to be separate or can they all be on one? For instance cutting multiple name files.

    I can't seem to get the size right :/ Every time I import my parts, they shrink down to a smaller size. Anything I'm doing wrong?
    My ratio is set to 70 units per inches, as they recommend.
    Appreciate any help!

    • @MartinsonManufacturing
      @MartinsonManufacturing  2 роки тому

      Your SVG Scale should be set to "72" units per inch. Let me know if that helped.

    does software mirror cuting shapes in order to optimize cutting area? when you are cutting shapes from metal sheets the cut is the same on each side so you can mirror cutting shapes...so does that optiion is avaliable in deepnest software? thanks

    • @MartinsonManufacturing
      @MartinsonManufacturing  3 роки тому

      I just ran a nest and didn't see the program doing any mirroring and I didn't see a mirroring checkbox in the settings either so I'd say no it doesn't.

    • @3dizris-virtualnaprenova29
      @3dizris-virtualnaprenova29 3 роки тому

      @@MartinsonManufacturing yea i think you are right..if the program not allow mirroring its uselles for cuting material which is the same on both sides... Its a shame

    • @MartinsonManufacturing
      @MartinsonManufacturing  3 роки тому

      @@3dizris-virtualnaprenova29 I suppose you could just import two versions of your artwork, one right side up and one upside down and that would accomplish the same thing. You'd think adding a mirror button would be simple enough for them to add in though.

    • @3dizris-virtualnaprenova29
      @3dizris-virtualnaprenova29 3 роки тому

      @@MartinsonManufacturing dont agree - if you import one side up and then one side down its basically the same thing... calculation algorith should be changed, right now it calculates only 2d dimensional positioning. it should be calculating possible solutions on 3 axis (X, Y and Z) so when iz finds perfect nest it should calculates again and try to mirror shapes (BUT NOT ALL AT THE SAME TIME!)...sometimes its only needed to mirror one shape and then recalculate nest in 2D positioning again....its entirly different algorith and really dont think that creator of that software is able to fix that - but if he fix that he has really powerful tool - and i mean really powerfull

    • @MartinsonManufacturing
      @MartinsonManufacturing  3 роки тому

      @@3dizris-virtualnaprenova29 What about this? If you import both versions of your artwork and then set the quantity of each way higher than can fit on a single sheet and then spread the nest over multiple sheets, the first sheet will be the most optimized and will consist of a random and uneven amount of each artwork, (maybe 37 of one and 8 of another for example). You can then just keep that first sheet and discard the others.
      Maybe you still need something different though. I'm not partial to this program and still a noob when it comes to nesting software, just trying to figure out if there's a creative way to make it work for your needs.

    any way to use this on lightburn?

    • @MartinsonManufacturing
      @MartinsonManufacturing  2 роки тому +1

      Just export your SVG from Lightburn and bring it into Deepnest. Then export the nested SVG. You could bring that new nested SVG back into Lightburn if you needed to. No plugin options to my knowledge.

    Where can I buy deepnest credits to export to dxf?

    • @MartinsonManufacturing
      @MartinsonManufacturing  3 роки тому

      I’m not sure what you mean about buying credits... you should be able to hit export and then type “.dxf” at the end of your file name and it should export just fine.
