- Moving from Rotterdam to Hilversum update! We are right in the middle of moving when Tammy finds out I can't be left alone. New Hidden Treasures on Thursday that we both love to do...I think this place will be so cool!
Oooo. Hilversum. Pretty place. All the best to both of you. Safe move. Good times ahead.
Love the tail, Tammy!
Good luck with the move, unpacking, setting up in your city and home. Very excited for upcoming videos of the area.
I wish you all the best at your new home in Hilversum . Nice area
I was born and raised in Hilversum. I left about 33 years ago and moved to Haarlem because of my job at Schiphol Airport. Haarlem was closer. But now i am retired and the first thing i did was return to Hilversum, because that's my home. I feel really happy here and i am sure you will feel the same, living in Hilversum. So welcome to our beautiful city! 😄
I m from Hilversum and moved to Delft 15 years ago due to my husband's job.
Now when I go to visit family in Hsum and go into town, I find it soooo boring.
The nature in t Gooi is lovely though !
I just moved away from Hilversum to a village nearby called Maartensdijk. But I still come there regularly because it is kinda my home town❤
hilversum's my hometown!! grew up there. So funny seeing other people move there.
Now I might be bumping into you two when I go to the market in Hilversum. Please, take it as easy as you can coz moving to another place is known as stress factor number 2.
Oh my Hilversum? Moving up in the world? Haha, but no seriously, Hilversum and Het Gooi is one of the most desirable areas in the entire country to live, so congrats! Now all you need to do is to learn how to play golf, buy some vintage car to work on during the weekends and of course sell art with your online webshop and you are all set! Also, dont mention you moved there from Rotterdam but make up some story about being wealthy Texan old money people looking to retire in the cultural oasis that is the Old World. Oh and dont forget the red pants on sunday, or pink shirts, but not both! And not sure if you guys have kids... but field hockey... absolute must. Or tennis of course, thats always a safe bet. Also, never ever talk about money. Be as blase about it as possible, to make clear that money is such a trivial subject it not even crossed your mind as something that might be important.
See, I'm not the only one who thinks that ...
I have to disappoint, but it's quite clear that it's Groningen.
You know the slogan: Er gaat niets boven Groningen 😁
So Tammy, you and your husband are more than welcome in Groningen.
Nothing goes above Groningen.
And no gas beneath it.
You are talking about Laren and Blaricum !
De Achterhoek is also great!
Enjoy your new home! Hilversum is a beautiful place
Gefeliciteerd met jullie nieuwe woning🎉 wens jullie veel geluk toe
Ahhh that's where I was born and raised 😊... Living in Blaricum now. If you want to know something or want any help...please ask 🥰
Moving to my home town, really?? Wow, a warm welcome!
Best move! I love the Hilversum area. Het Gooi. Laren, Blaricum. I used to live there. Now live in Rotterdam. Want to move back.
See you later!
Good Lucky in your New home😊
Hilversum is great, my grandmother loved there and I loved biking through the woodsin Corversbos and Spaanderswoud and bike to the Lage Vuursche where you can eat great pancakes.
I lived in Hilversum in my childhood.I Healy recommend you to go to Gijsbrecht van Amstel straat to the French bakery.
And Kortenhoef and sgravenland nearby have land and boszicht you will love it
I went to Hilversum last spring to visit a good friend of mine from way back. It is a lovely town, I was very impressed by it, 20 minutes from Amsterdam, a wonderful market on Saturdays and we visited an excellent Indonesian restaurant called Spandershoeve. What's not to like? I think you will not regret the move.
Hiversum means "de heem (houses) among the hills" (Hilvertshem). The old Dutch word 'heem' is linguisticly related to the English 'home'.
Will miss bumping into you guys. Last time I saw you at the Karel Doormanstraat just at one of the corners of the Schouwburgplein in the city centre with the other American UA-camr. Will be looking forward to see your videos from there.
it's also nearby where I live. I hope you like Hilversum. :)
Welkom in ons mooie Hilversum !
I'll be seeing you 2 then! I live there!
I wish you a happy life in Hilversum. There may be significant differences between neighborhoods. You just need to have some luck. I strongly recommend visiting the most famous brasserie in that area, Café Moeke Spijkstra in Blaricum, The Singer Museum, Nick's Vollebregt's Jazzcafé. and Café 't Bonte Paard, all in Laren. Hilversum is part of Het Gooi, an area of The Netherlands where people tend to be a bit to very stuck up, i.e. status conscious, especially the uneducated nouveau riche. It is difficult to mix with people around Loosdrecht. And then you have pancake alley in De Lage Vuursche just opposite the dwelling of Queen-mother Juliana, Slot Drakesteijn.
So moving!
Welcome to the neighbourhood, who know's we bumb into each other one day.
Hallo lovely people, so the chance bumping in to you guy's in Rotterdam is very smal now? To bad. Groetjes😂
😊😊
Oooh guys, Sterkte met de verhuizing!!!!
Hilversum has a direct train connection to Berlin. Just sayin'
Wow congrats! I don't want to start a civil war here, but tbh I'd consider it an upgrade lol
time to get that Hilversum hoodie :)
The only thing I know about Hilversum is that every Saturday afternoon, in theater De Vorstin, there is a live radio show from 4 pm to 6 pm with live performances by Dutch artists. And you can go there for free. I listen to this radio show every week, but for me it is too far away to go there personally. You might give it a try, now that you live in Hilversum, although the interviews are in Dutch.
We are going to check this out! Thanks
Eric
@@SoultoSoulTravels Tomorrow afternoon there will be another live show. If this is too soon for you to go there, you can try it out by listening to the show on the radio. It is on Radio 2, and it is called AvroTros Muziekcafe.
First of all, nice sweater. And no I don’t live in Amsterdam. I live in that other “suburb “ ,Haarlem. People really should stop with those petty comments about our capital. It is ( like Rotterdam, Hilversum etc) a beautiful city and even ,believe it or not ,has nice people 😉. I hope you will have a great life in your new home.
amsterdam sweater in rotterdam ....o boy you are not afraid 🙂
I am looking forward to this onion peeling contest 😂
did you finally get rid of that 1977 Ikea monster?
You'll miss Rotterdam!
In Hilversum lives Tjalf Sparnaay.
You left the bike unlocked? In Rotterdam?! Are you nuts?!
Erik you can't wear a hoody with the text Amsterdam on it in Rotterdam, but you can in Hilversum 😂
Your kids are in college right now right, or are they still in secondary?
O dear, we’re going to be called out. 😅
See you Thursday!
Hilversum is a great choice.
Eric, do you wear that shirt in the middle of Rotterdam? I wouldn't do that, you could walk into some Feyenoord hooligans. :-)
lol! No!!! Only in the house or under a jacket!!
@@SoultoSoulTravels Just wear that hoodie while walking through Rotterdam. It will sur make for a cheap move to Hilversum: the locals will kick you out of their city. 🤣🙃💗
With your King on the Wall Behind you.
I live in ankeveen close village to hilversum welcome ! (go the gym in mediapark )
🙋🏼♀
🤚
wrong sweater Eric!!!😅
lol lol
Move east young man!
I was surprised to see you leave. And it's now already. Your Friends from Schieweg must have given you a tip how not to make us too sad to see you leave... That sweater would have been a reason for locals to ask you to move. And you seem so integrated! Please don't make this your vlogging outfit i want to keep following you guys and see how long it takes for you to meet Bram de Wijs a popular vlogger in Hilversum.
I think you are sitting on your bed for the night! 😂
I am a bit afraid you won't really enjoy Hilversum.
To move from Rotterdam to what is basically an Amsterdam suburb is one thing, but to add insult to injury with that sweater ... Really curious to see how you will experience the shift from the 'just be normal' attitude of friendly-open-grumpy Rotterdam to the pinnacle of "keeping up with the Joneses" and the "there's nothing outside of Amsterdam" of our arrogant neighbors to the north. You'll notice it, believe me.. Just tell anyone there where you just moved from..
If, like Tammy and Eric, you dare to look and live outside the borders of the US with an open mind, you don't care about petty tribal conflicts in the Netherlands.
Haha, my wife moved here from the US and she certainly feels the enormous difference between the regions. This is about atmosphere and ambiance,,,, nothing to do with tribalism for her.
That must have been your influence 😉
Don't get me wrong though: Hilversum is a pretty town with beautiful 30s architecture, look into Dudok if you don't know him. But being close to Amsterdam seems to always pull people into the 'there's nothing else' mindset. Please, please don't become the 10,000th expat on UA-cam talking about nothing else! ;) You're better than that!
You severely underestimate my wife ;) Did that once ...
Hilversum is still in the Rampstad.... move east :)
North is good too
Yeah move to peasants
You'll have to find a new hairdresser. No more Haarliefde for you.
Better: change (one of your) own hometown(s).
Hilversum??? One of the most boring cities in the Netherlands. Bring a LOT of money if you want to socialize.
To Hilversum? You poor souls
I just moved away from there haha
Everything's one way in the city center so it takes forever to go anywhere by car 🥲
Good luck though, hopefully the place you guys got is a bit better than where I was (I was living in the middle of city center)
Tammy and Eric do not have a car as far as I know, so I don't see any problems there😜
