Gonna restart my Last Valley campaign. A Dragonborn paladin will be enlisted in my next party. For a noob like myself, Solasta has been an excellent starting point for my journey into the CRPG world.
New campaign would be fantastic! Lost Valley was way better than the main game, even with a certain gamebreaking bug. A final campaign that uses all the game's features, old and new, would be a good way to wrap up the game.
Personal preference is a funny thing. I found myself enjoying the main campaign way more than lost valley. I also would love a new campaign though. For me, the ideal would be a campaign with a little bit more of choice and options like Lost valley, but with quests with a little more depth (my main problem with lost valley)
It's a pretty nice DLC and very fairly priced, a lot more options and opportunities to roleplay, something new to throw at the two already existing campaigns. I was surprised by how well the controller support works, feels kind of intuitive. Much better than with Wrath of the Righteous where I always feel a little stunted when I play from the couch, but that might just be the fact that I put 250 hours into that game on keyboard and mouse, so muscle memory plays a role there too.
I've played this game more than I'd like to admit now. I'm loving the new classes, bard has been great utility so far, monk has been solid tank/dps hybrid, and warlock is a warlock.
I recently finished Solasta and I enjoyed it. I like the idea of one additional large DLC campaign. I wouldn't mind playing it again but I'd like a new campaign before doing it.
@@Flagonborn It's good, your party finds the Crown of the Magister and your quest is to find the missing gems that belong to the crown. What I liked about the game is that it's a basic D&D adventure without all the extra stuff. It's essentially a dungeon crawl but I don't think that's a bad thing. I have 78 hours in the game so there's enough play time to feel like I got my monies worth and I didn't get bogged down in it like I have in Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous.
Hi Mortym ! Just a word from France to thank you for your work (your videos about Solasta brought me into your channel...and this into Pathfinder WotR...) and to give you more support ! See you tomorrow for my morning routine !
Much better DLC here than Primal Calling was. But I'm not sure how much of that is down to quality and how much of it is down to me personally enjoying the class picks more.

Yeah that's why I got it right away and am playing the lost valley again with all my favorite classes, just wish I had a gnome to do my bard but I did a half elf

I've been interested in getting into D&D5e. I have never played the tabletop RPG, in any version, but I binged games that adapted the ruleset a lot. Perhaps playing Solasta, if it's such a faithful adaptation of rules-as-written, could serve as a good starting point for someone like me. I do kind of worry, though, because one of my gripes with NWN and NWN2 (3.0 and 3.5) was how attribute values only counted even numbers (due to the modifier system), rendering all uneven values a waste. I prefer when every point matters to some degree. The games also had a lot of focus on just getting the necessary attributes to hunt down the feats you wanted - it made them feel like you were encouraged or even forced to metagame a lot to plan out the right builds ahead of time. It's one of the main reasons I always preferred AD&D 2e. But that edition also has its problems, in that you were instead forced to really specialize in your stats, depending on your class, because stat benefits increased exponentially at higher values, while they offered almost nothing in the mid-to-high range. A fighter with a strength value of 15, for example, was at a severe disadvantage as compared to one with 18 or higher. Basically, how does it feel to play D&D 5e as compared to 2e and 3e, in this regard? Does it still encourage metagaming to a greater degree, and are uneven stat values still pointless?
Already bought it. I want to support the devs because for me Solasta is really really good and I hope they will give us something even better in the future.
Nice to see that the Dragonborn race made it into a video game, you do not see them that often, sadly. This addition made me bump up this game in priority to get to play.
Yo, Mortym! Really enjoying the DLC so far and still tuning in to each of your videos. Always great content. If we do get that final campaign, would you be open to showing off a Warlock build video? It’s your favorite class so it would be cool to see your own personal spin on it
I played this one blind in co-op and we had SO much fun with the gameplay and the personalities of our characters! The way the game generates their attitudes is brilliant, imo, and more developers should incorporate that. Like, the player character in Baldur's Gate 3 feels completely bland comparing to any of the four here.
It's a very different approach to gameplay, so I would say it's difficult to compare. In Solasta you create your entire party from scratch, they interact with each other and have their own personalities. In BG3 the main character has like 3 lines in cut scenes, and other than that they just make general remarks while exploring. Although I must say that they can be very immersion-breaking at times, because they're 100% portrayed as a "good" character, they make comments about saving people or express sympathy. My evil drow cleric wouldn't say "I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone" when encountering a bunch of dead humans. Because she would, in fact, wish that fate on many people, lol. But the game is still in early access, perhaps a "personality" choice of the main character will by included when the game comes out. Also, Solasta's writing in general is pretty cheesy and the characters kinda sound like you're playing with a bunch of friends and just having fun roleplaying in a silly manner, which I think is a super fun concept, but completely different than in BG3. In BG3 the writing is much more serious and very professional, the characters are well-written and feel more believable. So again, VERY different narrative approaches.
Looking forward to what mods will come out taking advantage of dungeon maker upgrades. Dungeon maker functionality sets this head and shoulders above BG3 in terms of replayability imo.
Hi Mortym! Been following Solasta: CotM for a while. Seems the devs have added a lot of cool stuff since the release of the base game. Very interested in this game, but I might wait until a bundle (game + DLCs) to purchase. Thanks again for an awesome video.
I"ve been a huge fan of the Tree warlock. I love the druid's spell list but dislike playing a druid. Leather armor only and leather armor being fairly rare/crap in solasta is painful. That combined with the druid focusing too much on wildshape imo makes classes like Greenmage/Mana Painter/Tree a lot more appealing than druid itself.
What I would like to see is more creation mode expansions More level cap extensions And finally a new dungeon But that is just in a perfect world where they get enough support to keep chugging at it
Oh wow, I only just discovered your channel while looking up reviews and overviews to see if Solasta was good enough to buy all the DLC for over $40, and the very next day is the actual review for the new thing. xD I was super excited to see the Dragonborn DLC since the monstrous races outside of Tieflings are usually largely ignored by videogames in favor of what I personally find as the "boring/generic" races. And now I'm glad to hear that it's worth it. I might just have to grab it now while it's on sale.... Gotta say though, the thing that really won me over was the campaign maker. I really can't wait to see what fans make with that down the line!
Suggest looking at Silverquick modules. I played his slaver modules and am halfway through his Temple of Elemental Evil. Great nods to old school ADnD.

Interesting. Lore Bards sound like fun to play, as their class ability to pick a limited number of spells from 'any list' means they can have class uniques such as Divine favor (Paladin), Hunter's Mark (Ranger) and/or Eldritch Blast (Warlock) and be crazy versatile. I'm especially looking forward how Divine Favor (+1d4 radiant to attacks) is going to interact with a spammable multihit cantrip like Eldritch Blast. Against the cult has more roleplay as there is more investigation going on (nothing super complex though) and Temple of evil is a big dungeon with cool backstory. There is also a campaign about slavers (sorry, don't remember the names, but should be easy to find), that people says is pretty good, but didn't got the chance to play yet, it is in my list though
