When shifting from 2nd to 3rd and from 3rd to 4th, it is much easier to just put the hand on top of the shifter and push forwards/backwards. If you grab the shifter from the side as shown in the video, you still risk shifting from 3rd to 2nd instead of 4th by accident; because you apply power from the side, even though all you have to do is perform a straight movement.
Not really I find it harder to pull when shifting with my thumb pointing down when going from 3-4 and I feel like it’s better to shift like that cuz ur arm is harder to Bend towards u so u don’t go from 3-2

Not gonna pretend like I know everything but from what I've experienced and watched the fast shifts are also the smooth ones. Yes you have to have a fast hand but the guys on the track don't just shove the stick in the gear, they smoothly shift it. I guess its all about getting the feel of the transmission of your car and how it likes to shift.

It can get mushy and vague under load and that's when you really have to be careful.
