Behind the Scenes: An Engagement and a Doodle

Ali and Joe are about as different as can be, and not just because of the 15-inch height difference. He's boisterous and animated, constantly cracking jokes. She's poised and quick-witted, with dry humor and a perfectly-honed deadpan expression.
Among the things they have in common is Slash, their absolutely darling miniature goldendoodle. According to Ali, Slash is the reason she fell for Joe, so there was no way we were doing this shoot without him.
Let me add that it was a FREEZING January day when we took these photos. Ali and Joe chose Old Town Alexandria (one of my all-time favorite NOVA spots) and they took quite a beating from the icy wind out on the docks. They handled it like royalty.
