Like what @john mitchell said, they probably won't do it due to the 911. They've said that they can do one and might, the GT department wants to, but they may not due to the 911s and accountants.
You can still order the GT4 with 20" wheels, club sport package, ceramic composite brakes & lightweight carbon full buckets which turns it into a pretty nice club sprint or Targa car.
@@josephjewellers nah itd be better with the pista included because then we can decide if the turbo really does detract from the experience ( which in the pistas case it doesnt )
The reality is, the 718 GTS 4.0 is the better 4.0. The GT4 is slower in a straight line, heavier, and only 0.5 second quicker round a track for a huge price premium. It's also not a "Real" GT car because it shares the exact engine and drivetrain with the GTS 4.0.
I would be very happy with a 718 Cayman GT4 as a daily driver. Manual, naturally aspirated well balance car with some creature comforts (not just for track) I would be very happy. Thank you for the video !!
The GT4 is the perfect mountain road car. Size, handling and still usable power. It not being an RS version is actually a good thing. Makes it easier to live with day to day or while on the way to the mountain.
Give me the Cayman Any day. Manual transmission is “Magnifique”. The engine is in the same spot as the Porsche racecars that go in the 24 hour marathons.
Awesome review! I really enjoy when people actually drive the cars they review and push them rather than just "casually" driving them around. This gave me a "Chris Harris on Cars" vibe which is probably one of my favorite shows. Keep it up Matt and team :)
Awesome review and vid, love the detail on the NA vs FI analysis - really insightful and how you evaluate and compare - changing times, and these will eb some of the swan songs ….
Love the old Beetle T-shirt. Having had both an old Beetle (with 160Hp) and an old Porsche (914 with 130Hp), I loved the video before even watching it.
Hell yes, rocking the humble Seiko SKX! By now I thought every high-end car reviewer wore exclusively AP Royal Oak or Rolex. I've got my SKX009J on today too. Represent.
The first media video of the new GT4 on the actual road... hopefully a few more videos will make their way out now so we can really hear how the engine sounds.
Great video. Very detailed and love the sideways action on the GT2 RS. I totally agree with your thoughts on the GT4. It will be spectacular if they ever give it a GT engine. The 997 GT3 RS 3.8 and 4.0 models are so engaging and are hard to match for driver involvement.
when porsche will accept that the mid engine platform is a superior one and stop being afraid that their customer could feel betrayed that the 911 is not the ultimate porsche anymore, its gonna be a beautiful day
I used to hate Matt, was doing too much of the British arrogant style before, but since that F1 video and this one which very precise in terms of explaining the diff between turbo, na or the road feel of the 3 cars, that i am starting to like him. Keep up the good work !
Love these long form reviews, especially when done by someone like Matt who can drive and understands chassis dynamics. Still thinking about the argument that turbo cars more controllable on the limit ...
I ADORE the new 718 GT4, NA 4l 6cylinder boxer and manual what more do you want? I just want one so bad in miami blue, with the yellow-GT-stiching and all the track focused stuff, PCCB, bucket seats etc. And its such an awesome car but costs less than the standart 3l turbo Carrrera with less hp lower top speed etc. And looks so good
Having a 3rs as featured i can only agree with the sentiment although the new models with RWS have added to the dynamics these days what only GT models could do in the past 👍🏻
The 718 GT4 RS has been tested for some time now at Porsche, and it won't take too long, that we can see it as a production car. This car will be one of the Porsche highlights for 2020/21.
Okay Porsche, _718 Cayman GT4_ *_RS_* , make it happen!
It was rumored with the GT3 engine but with a pdk only and more like the old clubsport version

Journalist: What I'd like to do today, is test all of these GT Porsches
Me: So would I.
I'll acquire all three GT2 RS, GT3 RS, and GT4 RS this coming new year. That's the most expensive purchases a man can do with his money yeah!
Man, you guys have been on a roll lately. Good job Autocar!

The 997.2 Gt3 Rs is still the best and purest Porsche ever made.
It's the one to give you the least back ache
How is it the purest?
As opposed to the 997.1?
Best review I've seen in ages. Keep up the good work.

997 GT3 -- untouchable. Will only appreciate in value. That Mezger engine!
Not will. They going up in value long ago
No one will care about the mezger engine.
@@technom3598 many people do. Thats why the 997.2 GT3RS 4.0 costs as much as it does. Yes its limited, but the engine is a reason for the price
Mezger sounds sharper.

Can anyone tell me where this road is? Is it available to the public?

I love the honest review. I was used to hearing the gospel of Porsche in reviews. Some good, some bad, some old by now. Ok, good.
1:22 The Porsche GT range isn't 20 years old today. The 911 GT3 is. There was a 993 911 GT (GT2) before that.
