Wow the two of you are way more adventurous and brave then I, to set out on a trek/ adventure of the scale ya’ll are on w/o a OBD2 scanner or the OG dipstick. I must admit my surprise on day one after purchasing our van that MB in their infinite wisdom ditched the dip stick in lieu of their computer/ sensors which unlike the dip stick could/ can fail. I even hit up several local dealerships and inquired and none of their parts department could even provide me a P/N
I did find a company that did have a product to solve that issue I’ll provide that link for you along with a amazon link to a OBD2 scanner we have used on three occasions and for the DYIr has been sufficient for us to correct the issues that arose. Though for the seasoned professional technicians ours im sure is a meer toy.
Im sure prior to starting out on our adventures I’ll permanently break my wallet on things that will be over kill and most likely not used, like snorkel, under carriage armor and a laundry list of things I have. Though its always better to have and not need/use then be in a situation and need wishing one had. 😉
The adventure pup looked to be in seventh heaven playing w/the favorite ball as always. And though you had a hurdle you both seemed to have overcome it with flying colors, it could of been worse for sure, besides even the low moments provide memories and something to look back on and laugh at eventually 😊 Keep the adventure up, and enjoy every single moment of it, and of course Sheila and I pray 🙏 ya’ll stay safe and healthy as well.
Also my apologies if this posts has a few iterations, but after posting the first two tries they seemed to disappear. Hopefully this one makes it thru. And again if all went through our apologies for the multiple posts.

Thank you so much as always for the positive feedback and suggestions. We really appreciate hearing from like-minded people like yourself. Appreciate the links. Will check those out and see if we can get them shipped for pick up in Fairbanks or when we go back home to visit this winter.
We’re learning things about our Van that we probably should have known ahead of time like the missing dipstick. We also have a laundry list of parts and upgrades that were prioritizing for the next leg of our trip. We wish we could’ve done them all at once, but it just didn’t work out that way.
Thanks to you and Sheila so much for the well wishes and support! It really inspires us to keep doing what we’re doing.
Also, we didn’t see other iterations of this comment so appreciate you writing it over and over again. We love hearing from you. Thanks again! All our best!
I sank my Jeep and got hydrolocked, it was nightmare fuel.......
I know a little bit about a dash lit up like a christmas tree since I have a 2001 jeep shitbox...... never a dull moment. Nice Jim Croce thrown in there
Oh snap, sour cream in the chili, yep, you two are like family!!
Oh, man!! That sounds absolutely horrible. Sorry you had to go through that!
I had a 2008 Jeep ship box years ago. Equally feel your pain. Ha ha. Jim Croce is the man!
Sour cream always on chili! We’re in good company!
Need go and purchase a obd scanner for the road
Absolutely! It is on our list for when we get to Fairbanks. Thanks for the suggestion!
Emily I LOVE your Alaska state necklace!! Fairly new subscriber here and I just love you guys! ❤️
Thank you!! A very dear friend that lives in Juneau gifted that to me when we visited earlier this summer. I’m honored to wear it on this journey and reminds me of her everyday. 🥰
I made the chili last night, and turned out Awesome. The wife and daughter had seconds and can't wait for the leftover today. The bacon added the secret touch to it.
Yay! So glad you tried it and the whole family liked it! Thanks so much for letting us know. That made our day!
Dang, that chili , the fall weather, doesn't get much better guy's.
Wez sure is enjoying himself. He's such a good-looking pup. It's nice of him to share his bed with you guys, ha 😅
Brian, as the weather turns cold, you should consider some fuel supplements, and it's probably a good idea to carry some spare filters (air/fuel) , im sure the MAF sensor picked up the moisture on the air filter and sent a code, glad everything worked out.. i just noticed your van doesn't have flares. Do you guys find the bed cramped at all? My next project on my van is to add the flares and bed system, im just waiting for delivery .. I'm looking forward to your van tour and hearing about things you like/dislike :)...
Safe travels & thanks for another fantastic video ✌️
Thanks so much!! It is very generous that Wez shares his bed with us. Lol
Absolutely should be carrying a couple filters and will pick some up in Fairbanks before we hit the Yukon. We’ll also be looking to get a scanner and a couple quarts of diesel 911 sooner than later. It is getting cold! Thanks for your input and suggestions. Always appreciate the positive feedback!
The bed isn’t too bad, but sometimes Wez takes up more than half of it. We sleep North-South, but if we slept East-West, we’d definitely want flares. Pros to sleeping East-West is that you can make the bed a little narrower, which adds to your living space.
Van tour coming soon! Promise, promise!
Hey Jack!! We know we’re lagging on getting the van tour video filmed but plan on doing that in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, we remembered that the awesome couple who built our van had a tour on their channel. This is before she was ours, and we’ve done a few extra things, but has all the main components. Hope this is helpful and stay tuned for our tour soon! ua-cam.com/video/NC2pwovKWZI/v-deo.htmlsi=UZgo3Fle5Rrm5LWL
PS - They also have a lot of other super helpful Sprinter videos on their channel. They’re great people and very skilled.
@@AdventureOutThere thanks for the link, I will definitely watch it
Awesome views, great music and WAY outback campsite! And Denali! Thanks for the beautiful wild escape!
Thanks so much for coming along! We’re glad you enjoyed the escape!
Happy you were able to get your van fixed and have a part waiting for you in Fairbanks.
It looks like you were on either the Petersville Road or Denali Highway.
The chili looked delicious.
Looking forward to your next adventure.
Thanks! We’re very grateful everything is working out with the van like we hoped.
That was Petersville Road. Beautiful but definitely a popular spot when we were there!
More alaskan beauty. Hopefully your mechanical issues are about over. Happy Trails 🐕
Thank you so much for always watching and commenting! Appreciate the well wishes. So far, so good! 🤞🏼
I have a scanguage 3, a little pricey but totally worth it, I can monitor transmission, oil, coolant, etc in real time, I have prevented some expensive issues with it so I would highly recommend it! And it is also a code reader.
Thanks so much for the recommendation! Definitely worth it to avoid potential pricy issues. We’ll absolutely look into it.
First little bump in the road but nothing of consequence. Thanks for another great video. Looking forward to seeing the next one. Have fun!
Thanks so much! It definitely could have been much worse. I’m sure it will be the first of many. 😅
owl vans sells a dip stick. got one for my 2022 sprinter👍 get yourself an obd scanner. also, you should carry a spare charge air hose. they are notorious for failing
Thanks so much for the feedback and sharing what you did. Had no idea the air hose was notorious for failing. We appreciate it and are looking into those asap!
OMGosh! That could have been so bad. So glad it worked out. / Wez is such a beautiful dog.
Thanks so much! Yes, it could have been much worse. 😅 Wez also says THANK YOU!!
If you can't see the bottom at a water crossing it's always a good idea to walk it first.
@@tewster2 It certainly is a good idea. Lessons learned!
i can totally relate to not wanting to board sweet Wes, i don't board my dog either ❤
Right?! It’s so sad because they don’t know why you’re leaving them. You can’t always avoid it, but we try to when we can!
easiest and cheapest fix just put a piece of electrical tape over the light
Haha! We thought about it…
Loving your adventures!
@@irenesilva744 thanks so much! We appreciate you following along!!
Every video you guys post and I watch makes me more jealous. Wish I could drop everything and come join you two on some portions of the journey. 🤩 Love watching the adventures and they sure make me smile. Adventure on!
Thanks so much, Dan! You’re always welcome to meet us on the road. Just let us know! Hope you and the family are doing well
Oops, I should of said the three of you 😂
@@tahoephotoboothrentals Ha! Wez is definitely living his best life. 🐶
You can buy a dipstick for $20 or less and just put it in. The opening port is still there.
We’ll definitely be investing in one as soon as we get to Fairbanks!
@@AdventureOutThere You might also consider the hood struts. They are an easy install and make life much easier every time you have to open the hood. I use an battery powered rodent repeller inside my engine bay to keep unwanted visitors out. For $30, it will hopefully be a good insurance policy against the surprising damage small chewing creatures can do.
@@ericdanielson4177 Both great recommendations. Really appreciate the positive feedback and suggestions.
@@ericdanielson4177definitely worth it! Those were the first mod we made on our van.
