      Translated to English it says to be prepared to get hit with a stray bullet in the pit. I’m curious if this is a literal translation, a figure of speech/ overexaggerate, or it just translates that way but doesn’t mean bullet??? Thank you in advance 😊

    My two favorite bands came out of Japan. Su19b who were awesome Powerviolence now more Doom/Sludge who formed around 1996. And everyone knows Corrupted! Been a fan of them since 1995 when I first heard “Anciano”. They were the heaviest band out in the scene back then!

    • @hermitkungfu
      @hermitkungfu Рік тому +1

      Su19b absolutely kills it, whatever release!......ridiculously underrated band, during their pre-straight-doom/sludge, and even nowadays.
      Corrupted is a total classic as well!......listening to them as I type this now, 'cause you mentioned it - always sofa king dope.
      I'm honestly much more into Japan's ole'school hardcore, powerviolence, grindcore, fastcore, and noise scenes, over this 90's tough guy/modern beatdown version of hardcore (in general, not just Japan's scene)......
      *insert rant that you can feel free to skip*
      Propagating and the advocation of willfully-minded violence, fueled by purposeful-intent (especially crowd-killing) within a crowd and even a mosh pit itself, is something that I can't and won't stand behind, nor support.
      That kind of senseless violence crowd/pit violence is exactly what broke up Minor Threat, and CIV's "Soundtrack For Violence", is an anthem those entire hardcore scene could learn to take a lesson from.
      All that machismo testosterone, gangs, crews.....paired with all that talk about "unity", "family", and "brotherhood" within those scenes - I've seen waaay too many times, how quickly all that preaching goes right out the window, when someone accidentally close-fisted-backhands someone, in or around the pit. haha
      *end rant*
      There's a few 90's tough guy hardcore bands that I'll never stop listening to (Earth Crisis, Mushmouth, ect.), and some modern beatdown stuff is cool (End it, Jesus Piece, ect.).....but those scene's vibe hit different with me nowadays - I use to sing in a band, that was actually a part of that 90's scene (Outbreak, NEPA), but while in that band, the guitarist & I discovered Spazz, and that was a rap for us. haha
      We started a powerviolence band (Stabacadaver), and I've been pretty much involved in that scene (fan and/or band) still to this day, like 20+ years later.

    I was never really into hardcore. It sounds too much like metal to my ears, but I like a bit of punk, maybe more on the 70s style, straddling that punk and rock & roll boundary. It is good that Japan does seem to have quite a punk scene, offering a full range of styles. Unlike the west, it has a ton of female bands too, and they seem to be less on the hardcore side.

      @@graveyardspliff With hardcore and the more extreme metal, I find it rather like spicy food. People who love really spicy food really need that spice kick, or they find food bland. People who don't like really spicy food find the spice destroys the flavour, and makes the food unpleasantly tasteless and boring. There's no right or wrong, just a preference.
