Unless you are a singer you don’t truly know how tough something like this performance is. Her range, her pitch, her seamless transitions, her clarity and all with what appears to be effortless ease. She’s outstanding.

all that in an outfit that looks like it weighs 50 lbs, with spanx underneath and 5" stacked heels. Her vocal skills and ability to adapt her breathing to wearing serious amounts of spanx (sometimes 2 pair based on prior comments she has made) is remarkable. Thankfully, she's lost enough weight now that she's able to dress without the spanx.
The robustness of the belts, seamless transitions, placement, agility! Kelly’s vocals are unmatched & forever improving. Understated elegance both inside & out🙌
The Mariah influence is all over her
In the absolute most positive way is Kelly’s stage and set up feels kind of like that church you grew up in in the country but without the judgement and feels very welcoming and also is hard to believe it was once the Ellen stage it’s nice

Kelly literally SLAMMED that song. The vocals are incomparable and literally perfect. Singing the whole song, all of Ariana’s parts, high keys and all, and completely slayed it. I’m not surprised at all because it is Kelly Clarkson. Most singers would lower the keys, but not KC!

I'm sure it wasn't easy, but maybe it was for her. Yes, she was amazing as well, there was also 3 other background vocalists there and they too made this incredible, but the lady in white that the camera would periodically show, she stood out.

Before I watched the performance, I was wondering whether she would really sing all parts totally by herself. It's such a demanding song. And she really did all those parts flawlessly. This song gives no opportunities to take a deep breath in between lines. And she sang all these runs and high notes like nothing. She's not human.

She was the first and the best American Idol winner! Kelly has an amazing voice and could sing the phone book! She can sing any genre and belt it out. I know people are going to say what about Carrie Underwood? She’s great in her own right but she can’t sing every genre. She’s just truly a country singer. That's the thing that's so insane, she's in her mid 40s and her voice is in AMAZING condition. She's maybe lost 2 or 3 notes from her top range but in every other aspect her skills and techniques are actually better than when she was in her twenties. The only other person who preserved their voice for so long is Patti Labelle.
