There used to be a travel program called "Distant Shores" where a married couple sailed from country to country, and they videoed everything including fixing their boat. Watched it every time.
You may inquire from the help desk where to get a prepaid Sim card and just ask them to put a load of P300.00 or 500 depends on you and put it in you cell. That's it
Mark that was a PHENOMENAL interview! VERY interesting guy with an incredible story! Thanks for arranging n conducting this fabulous interview. Excellent!!!
I flew from DAMMAM to Cebu and had to do the same as you! I had to have some new app and health insurance and more. I was lucky as I was able to provide proof of marriage, financial responsibility and so on.
As a Filipino, it is heartwarming that more foreigners are considering this country as their retirement place. We have been welcoming foreigners since 16th century…
Yes. ... mark. Came through manila .... It was nothing Getting in ..... No one really checked anything. ...... It was. 3 minutes. At imagrstion .... Seattle in the USA. Pre checked everything.
In Canada, there is still a 14 day quarantine period for those entering. The States says it is illegal. The science is different on each side of the border.
Re: Canada, if you’re vaccinated and do not test positive (if picked for random testing upon entry) then no quarantine. However, Canada requires a quarantine plan sent via internet within 72 hrs of travel. Quarantine Plan must show the arrangements made (e.g. hotel, food, etc) and If ok, the government sends you a code to indicate acceptance. I feel like an expert because we are touring in B.C. and Alberta two weeks from now (coming from Texas). Last, have travel insurance that covers medical.
Very good interview thank you. I'm based on my sailboat in NC. The marina info on Tambobo and Subic is very useful as I'm thinking of sailing that way. A video on marinas or anchorages in Phillipines would be great.
In Negros islands theres a place there that foreigners can park their yachts, and some of them made it as their home while their yacht in anchor. Anyway just check it out.
He hasn’t done anything too unusual yet. Very little sailing experience. Hope all goes well for him. He seems like a smart enough guy, but that’s one hell of a first trip to take.
Thank you for sharing 🥰 he seems to be very intelligent but down to earth person… I wonder if he has a girlfriend already ? I hope you continue sharing all your fascinating interviews. You’re getting very good at it.
This is a great guy! I (as also a german) would like to speak english like him, no accent at all.. Btw. Mark: I also like to see his contact data (maybe for his translation services) in your description! (suggestion).
the reason why the rest of the docs are not being asked when you reach your destination, is because it is already processed from the country of origin. Am from Canada and same thing happened to me.
Wow great interview Mark! coincidence Carson tries to visit Samal, and I live and own a beach home in Samal, married to American myself. We just got our boat from Manila shipped and towed over to Samal Island. Anyways, if a tourist wants to visit Samal, they need to book with registered hotels on the Island and that hotel will be the one processing the QR code to enter the Island. Hope things are easing up on Samal. And yes, there's mooring/marina on Samal!
Wooow Mark he was so interesting..The best I think so far , he is ahead of the game nothing bothering him..My turn next week to come there a bit scary just hope it will not be to much of a problem , thanks again..👍👍
Manila Yacht Club Subic Bay Yacht Club Punta Fuego YC, Nasugbu Puerto Galera YC, Or. Mindoro Busuanga YC, Palawan Iloilo Sailing Club Cebu YC, Mactan Holiday OV, Samal I guess he already knows to avoid the waters between Sabah, Malaysia and southwestern Philippines on his way to Samal Island.
Hi Mark, I enjoy your interviews with foreigners but hopefully next time let him answer the question, “why the Philippines?” If Portugal has everything he could possibly need.
I would have liked to hear that answer myself, but he did mention he would like to settle down with a girl, im guessing he is in his 50's, finding a younger woman to settle down with is much easier in the Philippines than Europe so I have a feeling that's a big reason.
Yes it would be interesting to hear the answer, if I may say, for what its worth, I've been visiting the Philippines regularly every year for 35 years and the attraction for me (anAustralian) is the freedom of the philippine people and the carefree kind and friendly manner. And there are far less rules in their society. They know that you have to laugh at life whereas western people don't always understand that.😀
I also went to dumagueti a few times in the 1990s. I'm just wondering can you tell me why do you think it's very popular for foreigners in dumagueti? thank you😀
I visited Panglaw Bohol in 2008 and they make Catamaran sailing boats. One was being built to travel to France and it cost 2 million in pesos if I remember it right. This is a great video for people like me who likes to sail, I even bought a book on sailing years ago just to learn how to control a boat.
Lol - I think this is going to be part of our lives from here on ever since COVID! I have lived in America since I was eleven, fifty-plus years ago. My husband is an American - trust me, we experience the same thing here about getting different answers for everything and anything now! Anyway, I hope your guest will find my birth country enjoyable, relaxing, and fun❣️Mabuhay🇵🇭🇺🇸❣️
Anyone who wants to explore Mindoro at Puerto Gallero . My niece has a resort with a golf course. We are fixing the facilities. Check it out the name is Ponderosa
I've watched a bunch of videos on this channel and all the men are so good looking. I relocated to Colombia and there are no men - not locals or expats - like I've seen on this channel.
Another great interview. I want to come to Phil but when I hear these stories where everyone's experience upon entry into the country varies due to the inconsistencies of entry requirements it puts me off.....
Thanks for this it's an interesting video, which restaurant are you performing the discussion in, is it in the Philippines?😀 edit: I just got to the bit where you said it was in dumagueti in the Philippines.😀

Philippines has one of the fastest growing economy in south east Asia. And if Elon's Starlink comes into Cordillera Region then I'm going back for good in my country Philippines. Internet is one of big problems in Philippines. 😁
Trip to Phil’s seems quite difficult if the farthest you’ve been in the vessel is from N Spain to its neighbor Portugal. Paul can improve his interview skills by stopping after he asks a question rather than asking more immediate clarification ones after the guy just starts answering. This dude will prob own a biz soon in Phils. God bless
Good interview but virtually no questions regarding the Philippines. The whole interview was just about a boat which is a shame as I wanted to hear the 'why the Philippines' etc.
Very good interveiw a really interesting cool guy

Fascinating. Always envious of dudes having the courage to wander and live life on their terms. Wow.

Spontaneous and entertaining. Well done!
There is a marina in Mactan island close to the 2nd bridge, The Cebu Yacht club. It’s been around since the 90s. Pls check it out.
A smooth cool man... Nice to listen to a smart man.
So many interesting people come over to the Philippines.

Hi Mark, Another great interview. I have lived on a boat for the past 20 years and love it.
So glad you liked it Scott. Thank you for watching

Cool interview . He's like a mix between Paul the Norwegian guy and Richard Gere
Take care for all the expats, typoon season is coming to the Philippines
Boy it's hard now to get in Philippines. I sure would not like to go through this red tape to get into country

Thanks for this interview, interesting to know about sailing story and Carson's journey.
As a Filipino, it is heartwarming that more foreigners are considering this country as their retirement place.
We have been welcoming foreigners since 16th century…
And also Chinese visitors for thousands of years.😀
Now if I can only convince my wife. It's as if the Philippines are calling our names, but she just don't want to hear it. I won't give up.
Super interesting story ! Thanks
It was fun hearing this very mellow guy's story! Great story!
Traze app is not required by the Phils, but by the airlines (Country of origin)

Can’t believe they let Jimmy Savalle out of prison 😂
I'm planning my trip there as an un vax'd person. This should be a good story if I ever make it through all the hoops
I hope they don’t give you a hard time Coz Philippines is sometimes unpredictable
Hopefully within a few months they’ll allow entry. Other SEA countries are allowing unvx so Philipines has to follow suit soon
I noticed most of the foreigners lived in Dumaguete or Cebu. Why not one ever ventured in Manila (Luzon ).
I heard Manila is more expensive
The traffic is horrible there.
