This is absolutely glorious. The chimera ant arc perfectly wraps up everything. It shows the heartlessness of man and the ability of the ants to gain a heart. Meruem's development is absolutely fantastically done. The hero dies in a fiery explosion, full of hate and willing to give everything away, finally reaching his end goal of life, yet feeling empty. The 'villain' dies peacefully next to Komugi. Gon's dive into despair compared to Killua's rise from it since the very beginning is a perfect display of nature vs nuture. I don’t think netero felt empty before death. If he hadn’t done what he did no one would have stopped mereum. Not to mention, it was probably the most challenging and exciting battle of his life.
