Great job Bill. Nice that you have so much space to facilitate growing your own food. Fair play for pointing out the build error. For any novice DIYer's out there watching the video, it lets them know that no one is infallible and we all make mistakes.
Hi Bill, awesome job mate, and your 100% on the growing your own fruit and veg, I planted lemons seeds, and grew about 38 of them, I kept the first one that sprouted, his name is Bruno, and gave all the rest away to family and friends, that was around 5 years ago, Bruno has produced the biggest, juiciest lemons you’ll ever taste, as big as a grapefruit if not bigger, so this is the next part I’m going to build, as Bruno’s in the ground, the rest I’ll be using this method, thanks again for your great video’s 🤙🏼🇦🇺 Joe in Australia 🤙🏼🇦🇺
Don't you hate it when you make those silly little mistakes. Annoys you longer than it should but it's how we learn. And a great lesson you've presented us with 👍Great project too! Thanks
Less bending so you will save your back👍 . Regarding filling with soil, there are many ways around this if you have a higher garden bed. The base can be filled with timber, logs or branches. You can also create a hollow base with a shelf so that you only have to fill it half way
I am only planting vegetables in these garden beds so that won’t be an issue. Large trees or plants with a large root system shouldn’t be planted in a garden bed 👍
Solid 👍 how far apart roughly are the long screws along the long walls? What about screwing some composite decking/screening to the faces for the finish?
Great video Bill, would love some videos on planting fruit and veggies. Quick question your trick connecting the top and bottom sleepers to avoid any bowing or warping, would it also work for connecting planks of wood to be used as an office desk? Thanks as always the the insightful and interesting content!!!
This is really cool, but I can't help but see $$$$. I tried to price up something similar and it was nearly $1000 in timber! What did this set you back at bunnings?
Thank you for such a great demonstration & inspiration video. If you don't mind, regarding the mistake you mentioned ua-cam.com/video/q43FEFo3PZ8/v-deo.html, can you please show us some examples of how it's done right on the first garden bed?
How good is it to find an Aussie DIY channel guys! Aussie tools, metric measurements, easy to find gear, easy to understand too!!
Videos are absolutely brilliant. I went to YT looking on how to remove a broken key in a lock. Now I'm considering making Raised garden beds 😂
Great job Bill. Nice that you have so much space to facilitate growing your own food.

Looking forward to making the most of the space. No one is perfect and the best way to learn is from mistakes 👍👍👍
@@billshowto Correct. So long as you don't make the same mistake twice! Keep up the good work!!
Keen for the planting video
*planting?
Sounds like a mistake i would make so I'm glad you showed us how to deal with it and keep moving forward. The beds look great!
Lol, worst case I could have replaced the two pieces but it’s not worth it. They will serve their purpose just fine. Thanks👍👍👍👍

Lol, I just planted a variety of fruit trees. Can’t wait 👍
I agree my parents have lemon trees, and they are huge and juice. Everyone is shocked at tthesize.

Lol thanks 👍
Thanks Bill, still turned out alright and I won't tell anyone if you don't!
Lol 👍
Congratulations on making the first DIY video that didn't make me feel like I need five extra hands and a degree in engineering. Thank you, Bill 😎
Lol you’re welcome 👍
You can make a cool little putt putt golf set up in your back yard.
Great job Bill 👍👍👍
Just coat the wood with oil. its easy to apply, preserves the wood and looks good.
Oil is a good option , just need to make sure it will go with the rest of the landscaping 👍
Nice work Bill. Some good building methods there 👍
Bill! Thanks for Sharing! Awesome!
Let’s do this! Thanks for the inspiration and specs, saved me some brain work. Enjoy your videos Bill, keep it up👍
Lol 👍👍👍
Great video thanks for the advices👍👍👍
👍👍👍
Love your work
👍
Thanks 🙏.. I was looking for one
Nice neat tidy job.😊
👍👍👍
Thanks Bill. Great video.
Could you do one with cement blocks?
I got cca sleepers. Just using plastic around edge.
Very nice work 😮
Definitely happy to see what you grow. That’s a beast of a raised garden bed - will you irrigate it too? The soaker ones work well
Hi thanks for the video . Can you please mention the measurements of boards and screws. It will be easy to buy when we have the measurements. Thanks
200x50 timber sleepers. Screws were 80mm coated pine screws and 200mm for the long joining screws
They look great. Do raised beds have benefits besides looking pretty? Filling then with soil must be expensive.

Looking forward to your timber structure for the grape vines. Will you be paving yourself? I'd like to see that too
Me too, I have a few areas that will be paved so a paving video will be coming 👍👍👍
@@billshowto nice!!
Love it as usual Bill. How much soil did you use please.
About 9 cubic meters, not fun moving that much soil 👍
@@billshowto thanks and yes it’s not fun at all.
awesome video ❤
but what would happen if roots will go deeper?
I am only planting vegetables in these garden beds so that won’t be an issue. Large trees or plants with a large root system shouldn’t be planted in a garden bed 👍

About every 80-100 cm depending on overall length. Sounds good👍👍👍

Hi, you could definitely do that. It may be difficult to do though depending on the thickness of the wood. May be easier to use dowel rods with glue 👍
Great idea, thanks for the advice @@billshowto!
Thanks for the DIY
Dumb question, what soil did you use?
Thanks for your video :)
It’s called Garden mix. You can buy it in bags from hardware/garden stores or in bulk from landscape suppliers depending on where you live👍
What was the dimension of the sleepers you used. Can you please let me know
200mm x 50 mm
This is really cool, but I can't help but see $$$$. I tried to price up something similar and it was nearly $1000 in timber! What did this set you back at bunnings?
Garden beds this size is not cheap, cost me about $1500 in total. The amount of fruit and veggies I can go will make it worth it👍
