That particular configuration is called a "Combat Masterpiece" before 1957 or so, when it became the model 15. The same configuration with a six inch barrel was the 'Target Masterpiece". No, that does not have a recessed chamber. ONLY rimfires (like .22s and Magnums - all magnum calibers) had recessed chambers. It is the right era, but never done for non-magnum centerfire calibers. @ 1:19 I must ask, what exactly is a 'hair trigger'? (Or is it 'hare trigger'?) I have heard the expression all my life and I did watch B westerns in my youth. It seems to be a trigger requiring very little pressure (trigger pull weight) to release the sear holding the hammer or firing mechanism in place and so fire the arm. But there is no legal or trade definition. I have a later incarnation of the same design and configuration, made about 1970 as I can find. Average of six single action trigger pulls is 2 pounds, 3.4 ounces, Perception while doing so is 'quite light'. With all my grumping, that is a gorgeous revolver. I would be ecstatic to own one just like that. And I cherish the older revolvers.
Very nice! I have one slightly newer, 57' ish I believe. Has department electro pencil on the frame. Grips appear to have been swapped out. super smooth shooter!
S&W didn’t recess the chambers on .38 Special models……. FYI
You noticed that too lol that cylinder is definitely not recessed.
Cylinder isn’t cut flush m8. Still very cool gun
I was going to say.
