No question. Laura. When Celine's version came out, I played Laura's for everyone liked the recent version. Undeniably, every opinion changed to Laura as the superior rendition. Laura may have only reached #26 but it had no video and I never heard it on the radion even once. Had it had promotion, I think it would've easily been one of her biggest hits.

Laura uses the spectra much more than Celine does here. Celine is in no way a bad singer, but it is rare, that she goes from low tones to high or reversed. Laura does that a lot in many of her songs.
Jennifer Rush was the original on this one, and does a good job, but i like the Branigan version most.

Definitely Laura - she brought her heart and soul into that song and said it was the one song that pushed her the most vocally and emotionally. She put everything she had into that song. Just like with so many others. Celine just didn't have the octave range that Laura had.

I try not to pit these two (and don't forget Jennifer Rush) against each other and enjoy each version for what it is; they're all special in their own way. Vocals wise though, Branigan's is the strongest. Laura's voice came from her soul and she sang that like her life depended on it. Celine and Jennifer both have fantastic voices but sound too mechanical compared to Laura, and Celine got a little too screamy on the refrain, though I thought she sounded better in this clip than on the studio version. But I love all three versions.

there is no comparison. Laura Branigan sings from the heart and her voice is way more unique! Unfortunately, she trusted the choices of her Atlantic Mogul and her version of The Power of Love never got promoted .These kind of mistakes happen all the time.
