In todays video, we are going to dive into marek's disease in poultry, of course poultry diseases either in the backyard chickens or in the commercial poultry farming system marek's disease have been a major challenge to the farmers, marek's disease occur in chicken as it causes a serious detrimental effect to the life of the bird as well as the massive loss in production.
Marek's disease virus is a viral disease caused by a virus called herpes which causes mareks disease. ofcourse marek's disease treatment in tamil or any other country in the world have been so detrimental as it has no specific cure.
Mareks disease vaccination is the number challenge poultry farmers are facing because once there is a failure of vaccination from the commercial hatchery, this marek's disease usually occur in chicks, we have cover some major areas such as mareks disease in chickens symptoms, marek's disease treatment in Malayalam, raising chickens, mareks disease treatment, mareks in chickens, mareks disease symptoms.
I hope you have learn so much about marek's disease in poultry in this video.
One of my first batches of chickens were all vaccinated for Mareks and they all died of Mareks. This current batch I got 15, decided to not vaccinate against anything. All living do fine, sold 8 now have 7 left. They are 3 months old. I gave them constant healthy herbs in their water, and made sure they got all their vitamins and stayed very clean. Garlic, apple cider vinegar in their water, spiralina in their food. Watched them very carefully. Just so you know, the particular vaccination for Mareks disease because given so broadly for so many chickens worldwide, the chickens become resistant and it is not affected. Many kinds of things can cause many diseases and issues with chickens and two main factors are stress from overcrowding and unclean surroundings. Also many chickens have pecking orders even when they are very young, and the weaker ones don’t survive because of picking on each other. Sometimes you have to separate certain breeds because they are more aggressive and cannot survive. These weaker ones can be vulnerable to diseases due mainly to the stress. I chose not to vaccinate, because I do not believe in any of the science behind them. The concept is great but the science is flawed. I am totally against vaccines for humans and animals as they have proven to cause weak immune systems and in the long run a big waste and a huge risk. Oh, and speaking of natural cures. A very large organic poultry operation uses oregano oil in their water and swears by the results both for their hens and meat birds. So, don’t expect the regular veterinary system to know the answers! They don’t. Organic is better and natural remedies are the way to go period!
I have an organic flock and brought home feed store chicks that were vaccinated and now my flock is suffering.. Sometimes the vaccinated ones get the disease and spread it. Will never buy feed store chicks again.
I have 9 birds and two got affected with Marek's but that time i thought it was a leg injury from jumping or chases by rooster but later they both couldn't stand up on their own and feces were white and green then I took them to vet and confirmed Marek disease 🥺. Vet said, "its too late you brought these birds but lets have faith and take care them also administer these medicines properly if they're lucky and time is on your side they might recover"
On hearing this my heart broken😭. I was naive and had no awareness about these diseases as our birds refrain going outside the house..but now I'm taking special and a most care of those two hoping to recover soon and want to see them running when i called their name's😢.
Same with me bro😭..I have 8 chickens as a pet and i always fed them behind my home but they got sick after a flock of pigeon started to join them feeding a month ago. My vet said that unvaccinated avian tends to spread disease and not recommended near our avian pets especially pigeons because they tend to carry a lot of birds influenza that may not be lethal to them but lethal to our Pets.
@@politecat32 sorry to hear this 🥺. Please take rest of them for vaccination ASAP and isolate the infected bird and take care bro. If you see the head keeps on spinning and not stable 😭 it's best to cull the bird them rather than experiencing the pain ...if only the leg paralysis then feed food with high in thiamine, less water and give neurotobin tablet thrice in a week in liquid form.. it helps B1 build-up
Good & informative video.. welcome sir for more.
Okay instead of putting "How to treat Merek's Disease" in your title, put "What Is Merek's disease." I am searching for potential treatments, if ANYONE has anything, and this video gave me a false sense of hope.
I am currently treating my 16 week old chicken that has Marek’s disease with ivermectin. Her symptoms began at 12 weeks. At first I thought she had injured her leg but after a couple of days she was fully paralyzed in a split like position. The first few days I hand fed and watered her.Like you, I searched to see what treatments were available and sadly there were none. I remember I had read an article on ivermectin and it’s effectiveness against bovine herpes virus. So I thought what do I have to lose. Having some 1% ivermectin available, I decided to add some to her water. (2 drops to 2oz of water along with a sprinkle of electrolyte powder for chickens). It took about a week of the ivermectin treatment to begin seeing significant results. In week two I also made a sling that allowed her to be suspended enough to maneuver herself around in her cage. In week 3 her feet began to clasp my finger so I decided it was time for a low scale perch. This allowed her to regain balance. We’re entering week 4 since she became symptomatic and she is doing quite well. I’d say she’s probably at 75% recovery. I am still treating with ivermectin and will probably continue for another couple of weeks. I expect her to make a full recovery.
Good idea on the ivermectin! I’m going to treat the entire flock with invermectin. We’ve already euthanized two chickens that were paralyzed and praying we can save the flock who aren’t showing symptoms.
@@rondina777 hi! Any update on the outcome?
@@loveliz0974 My chicken went on to make a full recovery:).
@rondina would you share the ivermectin dose for chickens?
Your lecture is so enjoyed Mr Dr
Thank you for this video.
Very clear and direct information about Marek's Disease. I appreciate learning the difference between Leucoid disease and Marek's.
Are the birds vaccinated more than once for best protection?
My chicks started to show symptoms of mareks within the first day of vaccination i.e day old. By week on about 10 chicks showing symptoms. I had never had any disease on my firm.
Part from marlex what are other causes of paralysis in broilers and explain deeply the poor floor and over crowding
Does marex cause loss of appetite and how long does it take to kill the infected bird
Very clear explained thankyou brother
Thanks sir, how to treat borehole water for layers on daily basis
I m following Sir I thak you for this knowledge
Very good
What is the incubation period for marex
My chicken have some weak neck chicken has no power to lift neck up and down.
Why female seems to be more susceptible to Marek's diseases than male?
My chicken day dnt use to work an there nick is truth
I bought 5 chickens. After 3 weeks the first one showed signs of marek. I had to put it down after a week. 4 weeks later the second bird showed signs and it had to be put down as well.
The seller said that he had vaccinated ALL his chickens against mareks disease. The other 3 chickens plus the two chickens I got for compensation (same seller) show no signs of the disease.
Now the question... this was 3 Months ago. I cleaned the coop, but not with chemicals and the chickens remain as well. Are these chickens infected as well? How likely is it that a vaccinated chicken can still get the disease and how likely is it that it can transmit it to other chickens?
I wanted to get a couple of new chickens, but these ones are not vaccinated against mareks disease. They are 6 months old.Typically mareks disease shows symptoms between 6 weeks and 6 months... how likely is it that unvaccinated chickens older than 6 months get mareks disease?
It is not 100% certain that the chickens died to mareks, but it is highly likely. Even the vet said that it looked like that, but no report was filed. Now I regret it not testing them...
My take on this is, that I can only buy chickens that are vaccinated against mareks. Unvaccinated chickens will catch it and die to it even if they are older than 6 months. Im just not sure and would be thankful to any help here :)
