    Great job on the video man. You've bought some of the best speakers you can buy for this price range and what you're using them for. The people that know something about audio can clearly see that you're new to audio don't mind what the others say! You'll learn more about audio in time once you study

    I run the same pair of monitors through my 8 channel M-audio interface. And they're used exclusively for video editing, and audio mastering. They sound fantastic. I was just looking to see if the sub was a worthy addition... and I found this. hahahaha. It's entertaining at the very least I suppose.

    I did a similar setup with the JBL 306 MKII ... Speakers were 129 each and jbl subwoofer was 239 ... on ebay. Haven't hooked up the subwoofer yet, but the speakers are amazing. I'm hearing instruments in songs I never heard before. I have them hooked up to a KLARK TeChnik Bluetooth unit so that I can switch instantly between my TV, Imac, Sony MP3 players, phone or internet radio .... They're amazing. I'm listening to stuff I heard and loved as a kid like they're new versions. Thanks for your video.

    I really think this is spot on for most of this. Not by actual knowledge, but i watched this video to start my setup. I think the only thing different is i actually opened my daw that i have been working on for some time. I opened kontakt and immediately realized that ......nothing is on my wall any more! Yep, full volume will not work. Flip side i no wondered how loud this thing hits the decibels read "" Oh Hell NO"! So I am no audiophile yet but let me explain, My teens my friends ford bronco had 4 kicker competitions with 1500 watts a piece from the 4 amplifiers. This Bronco's bass hit so hard it caused the bolts holding the topper down to rattle loose and like a scene from Fast and Furious the eject occurred and down the road the topper flew. So yeah when one single 10 inch woofer hits and brought this moment immediately to mind. . So............... I would suggest if your into music production to use the daw to set your sound levels. Outside that this video was the draw point for me buying this magnificent decibel destroying cave mongrel from a wet dream. Cheers and best of luck.

    So, I think it's pretty obvious you don't have a history in audio, and you're just giving your personal review of your new speaker setup in the only way that you can, with the frames of reference that make sense to you. In which case I can take this and applaud you for giving it a go.
    For the rest of us who may understand a little more about the intended use of these speakers and the environment they'd be used in, I too was expecting a little more clarity (pun intended) but give the guy a break, he obviously hasn't learned about acoustics and perhaps never been shown. We all goof sometimes.

    I used an NHT PVC Mini passive preamp in my initial setup. Computer to Preamp to Speakers and Sub. I'm assuming JBL suggested to come out of the sub to the 305's. On a side note the 305's are sooo good that I pulled out my old Lexicon DC-1 Pre Processor. As of this writing my Lenovo Computer, Sony CD/DVD, and Sangean digital FM into Lexicon DC1 out to the JBL's. Wowee.

    Thanks for this video. I love how you compare the actual size of the JBLs to the Klipsch PM 2.1. I've had two PM 5.1, and both amps lost the center channel, and one having annoying buzzing noise that gets louder as you turn up the volume. Installing a cooling mod didn't help either. I'm thinking about going with the JBL MK308s but I'm still undecided. I love the sound of the Klipsch PMs but the build quality/reliability is very poor.

  • @JustinMurray170fin
    @JustinMurray170fin 4 роки тому

    Consider building your own PC for gaming. It's easier than one may think & the benefits far exceed mere gaming - there are many sites/channels to aid one's build but I too would be happy to assist in any area if required.
    I'm sidetracking myself; I too have JBL305s (great little speakers) & I was plagued by EMI/RMI for some time. I spent quite a few quid on cables, unnecessarily expensive MOBO (Japanese capacitors/shielding) Etc. but ultimately, least for me, the problem was solved by upgrading my DAC (SMSL M300 MKII) - Night & Day.
    I wish someone had pointed this out to me or that'd gleamed this information myself but after purchasing a DAC initially, I wrongly presumed my problems lay elsewhere & there are many audio rabbit holes for those of us who aren't familiar with the world of Audio.
    So, in conclusion, I recommend you try out a few DACs from Amazon & you can easily return ones that don't eliminate the EMI but you'll also appreciate what they'll do to your system overall.

    I bought a pair of JBL 306 MKII studio monitor 3 days ago, i find speakers volume is too low even after keeping 100% volume in my computer and sound card. To be exact, i got 0 to 10 gain level in each speaker . So in my speakers volume is starting only after 2 gain level in each speaker below that its mute and good volume is coming only after 6+ gain level.
    So is that a manufacturing defect ? Do i need to replace it from the seller ?

    • @FunBubble

      i keep the 305pmkii volume set at 8 on each speakers back panel. then i adjust volume thru computer. I have laptop audio jack set as 'line out' and keep pc volume around 22%. Experiment some more, mess around with your pc audio settings, maybe cables arent setup right, try a different computer. There probably isnt a good chance 2 studio monitors are defective. let us know if you sort it out, it could help someone else that runs into the same prob. thanks.

    • @FunBubble
      @FunBubble  4 роки тому

      hiss is from the internal electronics. ive seen a video from electrical engineer do tear downs of powered monitors and explain why they all hiss. some monitors (not JVC) have added circuit that eliminates hiss but it can also create side effects like a slight mute fade in and out if watching a movie and the audio goes silent for a bit. The hiss from my jvcs isnt a problem for me, its undetectable sitting 3 feet away.

    ? Do they sound good for listening to music becouse people are saying they have a flat tone response I have the klipch 2.1 pros and on my 3rd set and you are right about the earlier models being better with more power and punch. But I am looking for something with more power plus quality stereo sound for listening to music on my computer. And with a flat tone im shure I could use a EQ on my onboard sound card which has been upgraded are do you recommend a DAC.

      these JBLs are amazing. but what really made a big difference was upping the low end thru my pc's onboard EQ.

      @@FunBubble Thank you. Im leaning towards the JBLs with a sub over the klipsch 51pm with a sub becouse of price.

    Could I plug my phone into these speakers or do I need professional equipment?

    • @FunBubble
      @FunBubble  5 років тому

      yes, i have been perfectly satisfied with plugging the speakers into the headphone jack on my laptop. i was going to buy a usb external DAC but right now i dont see the need. the computer audio out sounds great. some people talk like a phone or laptop audio out sounds like a 40 year old AM radio but thats truly not the case.

    hello, a question, I'm interested in jbl lsr 305, the previous model to yours, and I would like to know if you can connect directly to the pc, or if you have to connect some audio dac or some external device
    is that I do not know if connecting them directly to the pc, there are some problems of metallic noise or some kind of problem, I do not understand a lot of audio .... do you recommend them?
    Greetings

    • @FunBubble
      @FunBubble  6 років тому

      yes u can connect them directly to the pc audio jack. that is how im currently doing it. it sounds great and i dont hear any noise problems. im using a UGREEN 3.5mm 1/8" TRS to dual 6.35mm 1/4" TS cable to connect speakers to the laptop. eventually i'll get an external usb dac, supposedly the audio quality should improve about 10% compared to the computers internal dac. thanks, i'll make a video review when i get the new usb dac, im still deciding between a few models.

    if the sound is so good via the laptop headphone jack, you wouldn't really need an audio interface right ?

    • @FunBubble
      @FunBubble  6 років тому +1

      The sound is excellent from the laptops audio jack. General users like myself probably wouldnt need an external audio interface. Im comparing this from the klipsch promedia speakers i was using. I'd say the sound now is 10x better. A few things i should add... my laptop lets u choose what the audio jack outputs. i set it for Line Out but i cant really tell a difference if i set it as Headphones. I adjust the volume in Windows, it generally stays between 15 and 40% depending on the content. Ive heard an external usb dac will improve the sound quality about 10% because they use a better sound processor. A 10% increase is pretty substantial and i might as well get the best audio the speakers can output so i'll buy one eventually. thanks

      Actually, you do not need any interface or monitors. All you need is baseball bat connected via usb to bang your dumb head :))

      you dont need a audio interface for studio monitors but you should get one the +4dbu setting is for pro audio gear aka audio interfaces.

  • @gdjaybee742
    @gdjaybee742 6 років тому

    You're getting the hiss because you have all 3 speakers are all plugged into the same power circuit. I eliminated mine by buying those 3 prong to 2 prong power adaptors which eliminates the ground prong, or a ghetto move would be to yank out the ground prong all together. Try that.

      thats ground loop. not the small hiss he is hearing ive done that to remove ground loop and now i can only hear the hiss if im 5inches away from the spekaer

      He's getting the hiss because he has unbalanced ts cable instead of balanced trs.
      I see trs to ts in to the speaker.
      I have mine connected to the scarlett.......and I use balanced cable.
      Absolute zero noise. However you must tweak your levels.
