I sailed on El Faro for a year. I sailed with all them except the polish riders. Captain Davidson only thought of his future with the company and didn’t think about anyone safety. The company is just as much to blame also for negligence of the crew. That ship should have been out of service 10 years before it sank. The worst shape ship I’ve ever sailed on. During WW2 naval destroyers where directed through a hurricane 3 were lost with all hands, and the US Navy vowed and never directed naval ships to go into hurricane force storms....this is widely known so why would this ship be directed through this storm?

What's sad is that at least one of the crew were able to put on immersion suits and were most likely just floating in the hurricane-churned seas for hours, if not days, hoping against hope to get rescued. In a way I'm kind of hoping the turbulent waters drowned them early to put them out of their misery.
In a hurricane like that, the incredibly high winds are picking up so much water off the surface that it's nearly impossible to breath with your head at the same level.
The final investigative results will be thorough. An earlier example cargo vessel sinking quickly with the loss of all aboard, was the MV Derbyshire which sank in a typhoon on 09/09/1980. No Mayday was received and there was no black box. The wreck did get surveyed but after some delay. A UA-cam video (The sinking of MV Derbyshire) shows the results of that inquiry.
Such a shame, Danielle Randolph coulda saved that ship while Davidson was asleep. She knew they were headed directly into the storm but did not act. People tell me it's because she was a good sailor and she understood the chain of command and would not be a mutineer. An old rusted out open hull vessel like that? That whole situation was depressing as it didn't have to happen.
The problem with mutiny is you still have to face the company. With the government you’re innocent until proven guilty, with business you’re guilty until proven innocent. The chain of command introduces hesitation that in this instance contributed to the deaths of 32 crewmen and their foolish captain.
I realize part of it is the ROV the camera is on, moving about the water. But, I am surprised at how much movement there is that far down. I believe that was the rudder, swinging back and forth, but also appeared to be moving up and down. How tragic, such a sad loss of life.
It's not their fault. Mutiny is still a thing, if they were to relieve the captain of his command they would have all been fired, lost their licenses and they'd never be allowed to sail again, to say nothing of possible legal consequences which I believe is five years in jail.

Both sank with no mayday call almost on the same day 40 years apart, both wrecks found with deep sea CURV units, both wrecks are heavily damaged with nothing conclusive about what have caused these modern ships to lose buoyancy so quickly. Only difference is Gordon Lightfoot wrote a hit rock song ballad about the Fitzgerald sinking.

Bodies seem to disappear down here in the warmer climates. Not sure if we have different ocean life that decays and eats them and decays the bones, but that's what it seems like. We have divers who go missing in south Florida, and no sign of them is ever found save for - possibly - their dive gear. Since most of us don't label our dive gear with metals tags indicating who the owner is, it's often impossible to know whose dive gear was found.
At those pressures any body cavity is crushed, so your torso where your lungs and organs are would be crushed, skull would be crushed, unless theres some type of small air pocket or something where a body is any type of body would long have been pulverized before it would've touched down on the bottom

El Faro isn't going back on the ocean. Most of the time we don't raise sunken ships and El Faro is in such a broken state (the entire bridge area was torn off the top of the supertructure) that it probably wouldn't be repairable.
Put the crack pipe down, no one's ever raising a 700 ft container ship from 15000 feet down that has both a destroyed superstructure and hull and is the grave of 33 people, some of whoms remains may very well still be inside the ship.

The date configuration is Day first, Month second and then year...so this video was taken in November 2015.
