Thanks Ryan, I usually use rubber core sinkers less than 1/4oz for tying streamers for spinning on straight shank long hooks. I lash them to the top side of the hook so they flip over, and cover them with yarn or mylar tubing. I have a lot of worm hooks like you have there, and some of the J or keel worm hooks similar to the old keel hooks Mustad and Eagle Claw use to make for fly tying. But the worm hooks lack the longer level portion behind the eye, less room to tie materials. I never thought of reverse tying like you just did. What a revelation! I imagine a small diameter gsp thread is advantageous for tying in that limited space? Thanks Ryan, you really showed me a different approach. Awesome! 👍
You think if you tie this with a way lighter weighted hook do you think it can still be fished on a fly rod ? I been thinking of tying a weighted hook to get a little depth for striper ... thoughts ?
when i was searching ebay for jig hooks i found all sorts of weights from 5 g upwards i reckon 5 g would be ok to cast with some adjustments to style of casting

Very nice! I have a lot of these hooks---weightless. Gotta tie some material on them now. Thanks.......

Maybe you could try some tunsten putty used on carp rigs to add some weight to a fly.
