This is a real treasure...have enjoyed AEC since mid-seventies. Fortunate to have heard/seen them live twice, so long ago. They were the best...the best.
I love AEC’s “Odwalla”. Before googling etymology of “odwalla” or anything listened or read about AEC’s meaning put to it, would someone leave anything here about “Odwalla’s” origin-OR not! The experiences of my listening to this “Great Black Music, Past to the Future” speaks to me something way beyond my intellectual pursuits!!!
Yes! Saw them twice in the mid 70s- fantastic! They were uniquely great- took the audience on a deep journey through the entire history of jazz (of music!) soul giants without bounds- they had everything and more- pure magic!
Fantastic composition. I will always love the energized version on their live recording Urban Bushmen! I saw them perform in a small venue in upstate New York in the mid 1980s. I was totally blown away. I had no real idea what I was in for.
I saw these guys in Leeds in the early 80's they were amazing, and I have never seen another band like them for innovation. I love this track it brings back great memories of chilling with my mate Wolfie, having a doobie and listening to the jazz greats....
this is the song they played when they filed off the stage at the end of their concerts, i believe---they played the RainbowTavern in Seattle's University district around 1979-80--(by the Blue Moon Tavern)

I lived in Chicago from 78-83 and got to see them 10 or 12 times. GREATEST INTUITIVE MUSICAL COMMUNICATION EVER!!!
