I like that your entire collection isn't on display. It let's us focus on specific dolls easier and enjoy the ones on the spotlight until the display is updated again
Yes! That was actually a new concept to me this year, haha! Previously I wanted eeeeverything out, and it just looked so cluttered. At least they're still within hands reach, because if I had them in storage-storage, I'd forget about them!
That was a wonderful “real” video and I loved it ❤ I am a relatively new collector who has now gone completely overboard and has a gazillion dolls to find a place for. Not to mention many more “types” of dolls then my original adult collection was going to have. It was originally just Midge to keep the collection manageable - and because she was my childhood “Barbie”doll in the sixties. Hmmm - now I think I have dozens of Midges and so many more Barbies and her family members, friends, vague acquaintances…… Then discovered silkstone collector dolls - then Mattel Creations. Oh and Monster High by the dozen, then Rainbow High - then I saw Ever After High on eBay! I have you to blame for introducing me to Gene Marshall Dolls. Thank you ❤ my first arrived on Friday (whispers - and 3 more on the way). My office will become my doll room too - so thank you for some great storage ideas once I actually sort them all out and decide who will be unboxed. I love all your videos with your honesty and your gorgeous pets. Keep them coming Kada - you really are a breath of beautifully put together fresh air.
Oops - I realised I wrote Gene Kelly dolls 🙃 - edited to say Gene Marshall (note to self - don’t write comments in the wee hours of the morning). Maybe Gene Marshall danced with Gene Kelly….. 💃🕺
I feel your pain! Thank goodness I have managed to keep my collection to Barbies & friends! It is so hard to resist dolls that you fall in love with. Kada really does have some wonderful storage suggestions & I love her "real-ness" too!
Absolutely love it ! I do some of the same, some dolls are just standing on a shelf, but then here & there in between I make little scenes to make it more interesting, not so stoic.
My doll room is also my office, so yes, it’s a struggle when I reorganize, dust, clean, etc! I totally get it. I’m mid-reorganization, too. It’s totally worth it when it’s done! It’s also helping me to pause on buying more dolls and truly appreciate what I have. I’ve actually also parted with a few. Excellent video as always! 💜✨💜
Well done, Kada! 👏👏👏 I love those partitioned containers...so clever! You really have an amazing collection...WOW! OMG! It cracked me up that your husband's watch collection ended up in your doll room! 😂😂😂 That's what happens...things start migrating into our space. Also, great reminder to hide the shelving holes with stickers! Great finishing touch! Thanks for the inspiration! 😘😘😘
Kada! SO. MANY. DOLLS!! Wow! The results are so fun! I love your different vignettes. I also love that your dolls are meant to be played with. One of my favorite things about the doll community is what each collector does with their collection. Some are precious, behind glass, never to be touched. Some live doll lives, topsy-turvy, with one leg and a wig! I love it all! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones! Will you do a video about the Twelve Days of Christmas Barbie? I would love your opinion. ❤
I feel the same way! One of my favorite things about sharing with the doll community is seeing what each collector does with their collection...how they organize, what they prioritize, and how they choose to display them. We're all connected, yet we all have our own niche and our own idiosyncrasies.🥰
This is EXACTLY what i need to do but keep putting off because i want to skip all the hard work and decisions and get right to the decorating. 😂. Thanks for the fire under my keister! Let's hope it works. Love what you did with your space!
Girl you are preaching to the choir - my doll room is also my office (I work from home) so it definitely gets so cluttered so fast. You did a great job reorganizing. Love it! Loved the peek at your collection!
Your shelves look fantastic!! I change my displays often and rotate many dolls. I enjoy interacting with my collection and changing things allows me to do that. 💖
I love your video! It’s relaxing to see you organize your dolls and seeing the kitties was a bonus treat! Looking forward to checking out your other videos! 💗
Kada it looks fabulous!! Very bright and happy! You did a terrific job especially if you were sick. You're an inspiration! Happy Thanksgiving!! The Barbie is amazing!!
Oh yay this was wonderful you did great! I really need to finish doing mine. I keep getting sidetracked and getting more dolls on top lol then I started crafting and then started washing dolls and doing an inventory so now my room is back to being a disaster lol 😂 one day though! One day 💖💕💝🥰 I’m just thankful I have somewhere I can do all these things and am very thankful for everything I have and for others in this community like YOU who inspire me and motivate me ❤ Happy Thanksgiving xoxo💕💝🥰💖
That was a wonderful transformation! I just moved so you gave me a lot of inspo for my new toy display! I like how you mixed the art and display pieces with dolls. Lovely 😍 Also, would you consider using a mounting kit to secure the bookshelves to the walls? If one fell over it could be a tragedy for one of those precious, small animals.
I’m glad you like it! Good point about anchoring the shelves. I’ve got extra support on the bottom but yes I should definitely make them safer. Hope you’re enjoying your new place 😊
Fun vid 👍 I love those pink & blue bins 😎 Unfortunately for me out of sight is out of mind 😁That is not nearly as messy as what I have going on 😔 In fact my husband called my mess a tornado a couple of days ago 😂! He can't stand it that our living room looks like a disaster zone but I too find it hard to put things away after I make a video because I have so much stuff 👎 Plus I'm tired after making the video & editing it 😕 Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving 🤗😘!
I hear ya with ‘out of sight out of mind.’ I don’t like putting them in storage bins for that reason too. We’ll see how long that lasts 😆. I’m hoping I’ll get in the habit of routinely swapping them out. Hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving too 🤗
My doll room is also my office too ! And I just got done sort of organizing the room again. It's a continuous chore. But yea, I want it to be my happy place, cause I have to work in there. As happy as one can be while working of course. I'm hoping to separate the rooms some day, and or retire. But for now, they're the same room. Part of my dolls are in my bedroom, but if I didn't have my work area in the doll room, I could have all my dolls in there.
@kadawalden right ? I'm so blessed I've been able to work from home for 20 years. And it does help to have dolls around me. If I had a separate room, I would bring a couple dolls into my office every day. I put a different one on my desk every day now, just to enjoy it, then it also keeps my dolls from getting dusty, if I'm touching & moving them once in a while.
One change I would make is to keep costume specific accessories with the relevant outfits (particularly for the Gene Marshall dolls - I’d hate to lose a shoe or an earring for them (unless I had as many Gene items as I have for Barbie!) An extra bag in the magazine holder would keep Gene’s things out of the general boxes of shoes, jewellery etc. Also for anyone looking… IKEA Gersby bookcases are perfect for Barbies - the shelves are fixed at about 14-15inches (i think!) and they’re not as deep (front to back) as some bookcases (about 9inches - which allows 2 or 3 rows of dolls but doesn’t take up a huge amount of floor space.) they’re only 24 inches wide so not as wobbly as wider units and they’re also cheaper (even given that they’re narrower) than most of IKEAs other bookcases. (PS I don’t have shares in IKEA! I just found these to be good shelves for Barbies! My Gene dolls stand on the top with no worry about the height.)
Thanks! The larger divider holders are actual wine bottle totes, found on Amazon. Oddly, it doesn’t have a solid bottom so I added a layer of cardboard to create some stability 👍
Hey I noticed those astronaut Barbie pictures you put up were AI generated Darling Dollz made a good video explaining why AI art isn't good if you're not sure what it is.
I agree with Darling on that. Those pieces are by pop artist Stephen Chambers but I don’t know how he created them. I like to think it’s his own graphic design but… 🤷♀️

So soothing! Love the face on the Thanksgiving doll. Love how the Genes fit in their storage box!
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Yes I was delighted that those Genes fit perfectly 😍
