    I am trying to grow pineapple. Hasn’t been to well for me so far. The tops keep rotting. I take off as much fruit left on the top as possible, have it sitting in fresh distilled water and also tried in soil. The leafs just crinkle and die off 😢 or seems like it’s dying, I do notice slight root growth but it does not look good by any means

    • @PlantsAmore

      Just stick it in the ground , no need to bother with water etc I tried both ways but this is the easiest and fastest way I think . Just remember to water it and have a very well drained soil …good luck.

    What growing area are you in. Can this be done in area 4 outside or do I need to plant inside only?

    • @PlantsAmore
      @PlantsAmore  2 роки тому +1

      Hi, it’s the best for Zone 10 & 11 but it can also grow slightly lower zones with some extra protection since under 28Fahrenheit can kill them . I would plant it in a pot and would overwinter it in the house or greenhouse & can go outside when temperatures are higher than 60Fahrenheit , lower than that it will delay their development. So winter inside & summer outside the way , unless there is a greenhouse . Also if you have gold fish 🐟, their aquarium water is amazing to fertilize them. With that said I haven’t tried to grow them at Zone 4, so I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️ how it will work out , but why not experiment and see. :) Let me know how it goes.
      ( P.S.The winter time might be rough to keep them alive inside… they love hot, humid and full sun ☀️ locations)

    • @landafarms4367
      @landafarms4367 2 роки тому +2

      It increases the risk of disease and failure of the plant. Whatever amount of diseased tissue it develops (and will will develop some areas of rot), will impact grow time but not a ton. The reason we don't do this in the field (we farm pineapples on Maui), is the risk of total failure from disease. Yes, they do need lots of sun. No, they do not like the cold at all. Yes, you can pull off growing one inside with the right placement (or maybe grow lights), but it will be slow and sugar content will be lower.....about like a grocery store pineapple, which are not as sweet as a Maui Gold or any locally sold varieties. Dole harvests before full ripeness to lengthen shelf life, but since they don't continue to ripening after removal from the stalk, they don't get sweeter even if you do see the color change from green to yellow. Ideal color would be 76-80% of the eyes being yellow, and look for hints of red specks here and there. Don't let it get too red or if all start tasting like alcohol. But yellow is the color you are looking for when growing your own, NOT green.

      @soreloser2798 Рік тому +1

      I've heard from "Dr. Obi's garden" that quartering will actually get you a fruit faster. His explanation is that the top is one type of growth, and when you quarter the plant, it causes it to put out a ratoon from the side, which will start off smaller, but will out pace a top grown on its own. Fertilize lightly every week, and your results will be very good.

      What growing zone are you at and when did you plant it?

    • @PlantsAmore
      @PlantsAmore  Рік тому

      I am at Fl and I like to plant most things when it’s the rainy season , also usually prefer to plant it directly to the ground, so the water drains well and I don’t have to plant them several times . Water clog can cause rot or if the tag went through the core also causing them to rot … I don’t always use the four pieces method because sometimes I just want to plant it quickly so I plant the whole crown … but whenever I used the quartering method it was working … one time because of my own fault it dried out so much that I lost some, that was when I planted it to the pot … ( another reason why I don’t like to plant into the pot when it’s not a must, because it dries out very quick in the Fl sun)
      The other thing is to consider , how old was the pineapple 🍍crown by the time it get to the ground … the more I wait to plant them and they have to wait in the house without food and sun the less chance of survival .

    • @PlantsAmore
      @PlantsAmore  Рік тому

      @PlantsAmore  2 роки тому +2

      Hi David, if there is no rain 🌧 and dry conditions I like to water my plants 🌱 at least every two days or when the soil is dry… but ideally every day before sunrise or after sunset. Summer time when there is a lot of rain 🌧 nearly every day I don’t have to do a thing but weed around them . They love well draining soil and good waterings specially when it comes to fast draining sandy soils .
      When I start the pineapple 🍍crowns I keep them moist in well draining soil till they grow roots , then I can lay off a bit till their soil is dry and then water again. Good luck growing your 🍍 pineapples 🍍!:)

    Have you read the "patent" on bromelain being used to purify water molecules in the presence of yeast and citric acid? I believe you can also feel the effects from eating the fruit of a banana with even just the peel of an orange. ua-cam.com/video/A88ih2PQDNs/v-deo.html was pretty explanatory on how the blood might be "purified" at the end.

    I’ve tried cutting the pineapple in 4 but only grew one sucker, all the others dried up and died

      Hi 🙋‍♀️was the crown healthy looking and fresh when you planted it? I watered mine almost every day when there was no rain. When cut in so many ways needs to be hydrated more often .

      @@PlantsAmore I didn’t water it much, maybe that’s the reason. I always thought watering pineapple plants a lot causes it to rot!

      @@iccuR give another try and let me know how it goes :), I normally watered them before the sun ☀️ comes up or after sunset, during the day it kinda dried out a bit (but here in SW Fl when there is no rain 🌧 everyday, the soil/sand dries out quickly.

      @@PlantsAmore I’m not sure. On one side, I think it is possible, but on the other, you are cutting the core, so I am not sure it would work.

      @@Idk-fj8is if they don’t put those plastic tags to deep in the core, it will work.
