I was disappointed in the TX hybrid option (only 6 seats?!) but the Grand Highlander currently takes from 6-12 months to get, and after looking on several message boards there are so many issues that I don’t want to deal with. I’m still considering this or the new Mazda.

Posdibly, but if I wanted to spend 80k, I would seriously look at the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus. Especially with what they have done with their 48' entertainment display cluster.

Seems like a Lexus version of a Ford flex, the Ford has better 3rd row and more storage though and is lower which is awesome for kids and carseats. They should of built it on a car platform like LS500, not just another RAV4 clone

Even though I love everything about the 350, the turbo 2.4 is huge turnoff. Imagine trying to change lanes and having a civic like growl from the engine. 4 cylinder for a 70k 7 seater doesn’t make sense

You do have to explain. Can’t make a statement without reasons to back up your claim.

    • @naveenthemachine
      @naveenthemachine 11 місяців тому +7

@@BostonAutoBlog I’d love to explain it
      1. The exterior looks ugly compared to just about anything else such as the x5, x7, gle, gls, xc90, gv80, q7, aviator, MDX, cx90, qx60, xt6, telluride palisade, ev9, Santa Fe, sorento, pathfinder, lc500, grand Cherokee.
      2. The powertrain options are just embarrassing. The 350 is as slow as a Toyota corolla or kia rio. The 500h isn’t any faster than a base ford explorer 2.3, base cx90, base MDX, telluride palisade, pilot, pathfinder qx60, xt6 grand Cherokee etc. and it’s still slower than the Explorer st, base aviator, MDX type s, gv80 3.5t. The 550h+ is three things: interesting since it uses a 3.5L v6; confusing since the v6 is only on the phev and not on the other tx models; extremely underwhelming since the performance is identical to the 500h but still significantly slower than the xc90 x5 aviator phev but barely faster than a grand Cherokee 4xe, but the tx cost over 85-100k, and it has less EV range than the xc90. To make things worse, getting a naturally aspirated v6 in general will be significantly more expensive than getting a v6 in any of the competitors where they make their naturally aspirated v6 engines standard or optional like in the xt6 where the v6 is standard on the premium luxury trim.
      3. The interior is a complete mess. It looks horrible, cheap, and dated. For starts, no tx offers a leather dashboard, doors, airbag cover, or even wood trim. If you compare the interior of the tx to an MDX, cx90, gv80, aviator, grand Cherokee summit reserve, telluride palisade, qx60, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about
      4. The tech is also dated and completely useless. For starts, the infotainment still isn’t as good as its competitors despite being a touchscreen. Next, the electric door handles are something nobody ever asked for. If that wasn’t enough, the touchpad steering wheel heads up display combo is a mess.
      5. It lacks so many features compared to the competition. Those missing features include a double wishbone front suspension, air suspension, massaging seats, passenger memory, not enough speakers, removable middle seats like in the pilot / mdx, 4 zone climate control, power rear seats with ottomans, heated or even ventilated 3rd row seats, and hands free driving
      6. I will give you that it has a lot of space but unfortunately so does the telluride and palisade and again those two have more features and also an 8th seat. The interior space especially the third row is not much better than the aviator or xc90. But it doesn’t have as much space as a minivan or a full size suv like the Wagoneer
      7. Behind the wheel, handling and performance fall behind just about all the competition. Theres no torque vectoring AWD like in the MDX. Sure it rides great but it’s not like the Tx has a new dimension of ride comfort that’s earth shattering. It’s not like other SUVs ride like a bucket of bolts. They ride just as smooth while simultaneously handling better
      8. The price tag. The tx350 is a lot more expensive than the MDX xt6 qx60 telluride palisade. And it’s a lot slower than those. The 500h costs 70k and again it’s still slower and handles worse than the MDX type s. The 550h+ will cost 85-100k so it’s likely more expensive than the aviator grand touring or xc90 phev or x5phev. And it doesn’t perform better than those three in any sort of way

      1. I like the exterior a lot. Looks are subjective. Who cares about your opinion?
      2. I don't give a sh*t about powertrain options. The gas model is fine for me and my needs.
      3. Agreed the interior could be a little more luxurious, but overall I really like it.
      4. To say the tech is "useless" is ridiculous, so this entire point lacks credibility. I couldn't care less about the electric door handles.
      5. These are valid misses by Lexus, but not dealbreakers for me. The lack of features at $55k for the base model is ridiculous.
      6. The Telluride and Palisade only have 87 cubic feet of space with all rows down vs. 97 for the TX. And dude, NO SUV has space like a minivan. But the TX is as close to minivan interior space as you can get in an SUV (except maybe new Traverse).
      7. 98% of the people (including myself) will be driving this car to Target, baseball practice for the kids, and work. Who cares about handling and performance and torque vectoring? It's not a d*mn Corvette lmao. I just need comfort, and the TX has that.
      8. Agreed. The price tag is DUMB for the TX hybrid models. But to say "the tx350 is a lot more expensive than the MDX xt6 qx60" is just FALSE. The base MDX is $49k (which has a much smaller interior) and the base TX is $55. Six grand difference, which is a fair amount, but I wouldn't say "a lot more expensive." The base XT6 is $48k, but only has 78.7 cubic ft of cargo space vs. 97 for the TX. And the base QX60 is $49k with 75.4 cubic feet of space. The Telluride and Palisade are the only examples that are significantly cheaper for the based models. But the base models for them suck and aren't considered luxury brands and missing most of the features that make the Telluride and Palisade desirable.
