The book of Psalms beautifully and famously shows the breadth and depth of human emotion. It helps us “feel” our faith. in many of our songs in the past we have explored the reality of our sorrows, but with Psalm 150 (Praise the Lord), we wanted to emphasize the power of how the book of Psalms culminates - in overwhelming joy and praise! I think in 150 being the final Psalm God is teaching us something - that sorrows are real, confusion will happen, the journey is long - but it all crescendos in praise. There is an exclamation point! Joy is where we are headed. The world knows it. The seas know it. The mountains know it. And we can get in on it. ~ Matt Papa
“You formed us in your very likeness....to know your wondrous works.....to tell your mighty deeds....to join the everlasting chorus, PRAISE THE LORD....”
Lyrics:
You made the starry hosts
You traced the mountain peaks
You paint the evening sky with wonders
The earth, it is Your throne
From desert to the sea
All nature testifies Your splendor
CHORUS
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Sing His greatness
All creation
Praise the Lord
Raise your voice
You heights and all you depths
From furthest east to west
Let everything that has breath
Praise the Lord
You reached into the dust
In love, Your Spirit breathed
You formed us in Your very likeness
To know Your wondrous works
To tell Your mighty deeds
To join the everlasting chorus
CHORUS
Let symphonies resound
Let drums and choirs ring out
All heaven hear the sound of worship
Let every nation bring
Its honors to the King
A roar of harmonies eternal
FINAL CHORUS
Praise the Lord
Praise the Lord
Sing His greatness
All creation
Praise the Lord
Raise your voice
You heights and all you depths
From furthest east to west
You distant burning stars
All creatures near and far
From sky to sea to shore
Sing out forevermore
Let everything that has breath
Praise the Lord

Imagine being in the presence of the one who gave you your breath, sent the blood running in your veins, endowed you with a soul, gave you your ability to comprehend the wonders of the universe and your very ability to feel affection for...anything and anyone really.
I can think of nothing that would more readily excite the heart to worship.

@@FlemFlamH2 Yes but that wouldn't help when playing videos on the TV. It's always preferable to have lyrics hardcoded on the video so everyone can sing along without shuffling thru their devices

Beautiful! A song that actually uses a Psalm, and has no catch gimmicky words. Love this song!
What a beautiful song! The first time I heard this I went over to the Sight & Sound David music to see if I had missed something! What I found out was that _they_ had missed something! So Awesome!!
Let us pray for music teachers and all creation.
Just discovered this after searching for doctrine sound music. Really blessed to listen to this. Thank you
I'm so glad we have songs like these that contain Biblical truth, are God-centered, and have beautiful melodies.
*PRAISE THE LORD* !!!
Praise the Lord!
I praise God for all those who struggle with this song because of the rather blasphemous line, 'the earth, it is Your throne'. Much as I love the song and the singing, I still struggle with the line. I wish the songwriters would correct it and redo the song. Surely, one would expect them to know the difference between 'the prince of this world' and the Sovereign Lord whose Most High Throne is the unreachable Heaven far beyond the heavenly realms, the earth merely His footstool!
*GRAND PRESENTATION*
Praise the Lord - He alone is worthy of all praise! May we be a generation of worshipers who make Scripture based melodies to our Lord! 🍁😇

Wonderful glory to God
Amen,Amen,Amen
Thank u
I am happy
Very nice. @KeithandKristyn Getty - who's all up there playing with Matt & Matt?
'The earth it is your OWN" would be better than THRONE... consider a lyrics tweak. But i love this song. Heaven is your thrown and the earth is your footstool.
Thank you for that simple suggestion! I am a couple weeks away from introducing this song to our congregation and yet I just made aware of the unfortunate original phrase. I think this will work perfectly!
We changed it to the earth WILL be your throne. (It really is a strange anachronism in what is otherwise an excellent song)
Amen. May YHWH be clearly proclaimed to Israelis
❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Great song, and very happy my church is singing straight from Scripture. The only way this song could be better is correcting the slight theological guffaw in the first verse. The song states that earth is God's throne, while Scripture states earth is the footstool of God's throne in heaven. Although, I admit, footstool doesn't fit as nicely in the rhythm. God bless you all for continuing to make such wonderful music!
How much do the Jewish Psalms permeate the Christian Scriptures? And, why does it matter?
The New Testament contains more than 100 quotations from the Psalms. With two small exceptions, every New Testament writer draws from the beloved hymnbook of God’s chosen people.
Jesus deserves all the honor and glory
Go 💕 🥺❤❤
Can't wait for your other songs❤❤❤🥺🙏

I'd like to sign this song in ASL. Can someone help me with this?
The earth it is your throne? I thought the bible says heaven is your throne, earth your footstool.
They are very deliberate with their writing so I don’t know why they’d write that
Can i ask where in scripture it says that the earth is God's throne?
Just curious...where in scripture does it say, "the earth is God's throne?" Anyone know?
Isaiah 66:1 Heaven is his throne and the earth his footstool
i asked myself the same question
See John 14:23 For those that love Jesus, the Father and Son will reside with them (in their heart).
I got hung up on that part, too... :/
God's throne is in heaven...☆
Otherwise it's a great song!
It doesn't say so. That's an anomaly all lovers of Truth will have to contend with! Praying as the Lord teaches that it will come to pass - as it is in Heaven. Amen.
