Orings: Red one goes closest to the filter and the black one goes to the outer cover end.

The orange o ring goes on the end closer to the filter.. But I make the same mistake.

Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems available, they will create their own. Your Harley had 4 oil filters? That's one reason I'm hesitant to get a Harley. A friend told me once that just for an oil change was over $100. I can't afford a Harley anyway....
